Meadow

After my first day, time seemed to fly. Jamey gave me a more challenging task, but I didn't give up. I did every single one within the time frame given. I couldn't back down from this man. The irritated look on his face whenever I completed them was very rewarding. It has been two weeks since I started working at Salvador Inc., and honestly, I really like the environment. It was very healthy and progressive despite the power-hungry tyrant in charge. RING..RING...

"Hello, this is Mr. Salvador's secretary. How can I…"

"I don't care who you are, I want to speak to Jamey now. Tell him to pick up my call," a high-pitched voice interrupts me.

"Mr. Salvador is busy right now, but I can take a message. Who is this?" I ask, genuinely interested in knowing.

"Tell him Debby called and he should call me back soon. I'm his fiancée," She seemed very proud saying the statement.

Now, I haven't known Jamey for very long, but he doesn't look like the type of man who likes or goes into relationships. It was a little odd because he was 29 and seemed to hate any form of affection. So this lady calling had to be either extremely delusional, an over dramatic one-night stand, or an ex who didn't know she was an ex yet. Either way, I wasn't getting paid enough to care.

The call reminded me of my ex, Tony. He was a sweet guy, but way too indecisive for me. He was also way too controlling over me, always telling me what to wear, how to style my hair, and what time I should be home. I really hated it. And if I'm being completely honest with myself, I only dated him because he was useful to me, at least until he wasn't. We broke up about 6 months ago.

"Of course, I'll let him know as soon as I can," I try my best to mask the sarcasm in my voice.

KNOCK…KNOCK

"Come in," the brooding monster said

"A Debby called for you, she said you should call her back soon, and that she's your fiancée," I said curiously.

It was highly unnecessary to add the last part, but somewhere within me, I was curious to know who she actually was. Did this monster actually have a heart to love? I notice how his jaw clenched, his finger tightened around the cup of whiskey he was holding, I could swear that I heard a slight crack coming from the poor cup in his grasp. He was angry.

"Tell her to never call here again. That I would call her when I need her."

I was extremely confused. If she were his fiancée, why would he treat her so badly? Who would be so angry to hear from someone they loved or who loved them? Something wasn't making sense. I never really loved anyone aside from my parents and Katie, so who was I trying to understand it?.

"Yes, sir," I closed his door and walked back to my desk.

Why would anyone even want to be his Fiancée in the first place? He was an asshole. He was rude, and he was insufferable. Yes, he was filthy rich, but I mean, if I really think about it, what good features did he have?

Maybe it was the dark hair that sat perfectly styled on his forehead. Maybe it was those lips, plump and pink, that glistened anytime he licked them. Or was it his Body? I had yet to see him unclothed, but it was obvious he worked out a lot. His veiny forearms that where always on display when he rolled up his dress shirt, The masculine scent that followed him when he walked by my desk, he smelt clean with something harsh that almost choked me, maybe it was his perfectly manicured manly fingers that made me wonder if writing was the only thing they were good at or just maybe it was those mesmerizing green eyes that held danger, power and a little lust but I imagined them staring up at me. I liked strong-willed men who knew when to be vulnerable, who yearned.

NO!!!!!! I snap myself out of those thoughts. He was a monster who treated me badly, maybe mildly attractive, but as I said, I liked strong-willed men who were vulnerable, and Jamey certainly didn't seem like a yearner. Plus, he was engaged, apparently…

I finish my work for the day and take the bus home. I was already imagining how I would buy a car or a fashion studio. Starting my own fashion line was my actual dream job, but I kept it to myself.

I walked into my tiny apartment, switched on the lights, and looked at the mess I had left waiting for me. Sometimes in moments like this, I wish I lived with someone. As much as I didn't have time for love, it actually felt like love didn't have time for me. I managed to clean up a little, and by the time I was done, it was 11 pm. I make a Caesar Salad for myself with a glass of Cranberry juice. It was my favorite. I switch on the TV and put on my favorite movie, The Princess and the Frog. In that moment, all my problems faded away.

MeadowBad decisions. That’s what he tasted like.Bad decisions I knew I would probably regret tomorrow when I told Katie but right now, in this moment I couldn’t care less. I wanted Jamey and most importantly, he wanted me.The way his tongue moved dominating my mouth told me he wanted me, the way his hands explored my body told me he wanted me, the way he gently groaned into my mouth told me he wanted me.This wasn’t one sided and that helped ease my guilt but not completely.Placing my palm on his chest, I gently push needing to break the kiss and catch my breath.Breathlessly whispering, “We shouldn’t be doing this. It-its wrong” This was wrong in every sense of the word but nothing felt so right. Our foreheads rested against each other I feel him take a deep breath.“Yet here we are.” His husky voice, breathlessly spoke.I feel his hands tighten round my waist as his mouth gently began placing kisses on the side of jaw and my ear. My ear, that was my weakness. His tongue rolled

MeadowI take it back. One date could really be that bad.I and Tony had been walking around for the past 45 minutes and my feet were sore and my toes were beginning to cramp up. I had been late, I understand, I take full responsibility for that but this was just irritating. We had visited almost every Spanish restaurant in town and for some reason they were all completely booked. Was it tourist season or something? To make matters worse, tony kept whining on about how he was sure he made a reservation and how all of this would have been avoided if Jamey hadn’t over worked me.At this point I had lost my appetite. It wasn’t Jamey’s fault I was late, we had work to do.My mind couldn’t help but silently tell me that all of this wouldn’t be happening if I was with Jamey. He always did everything with perfection and honestly he put intention into a lot of things he did with me.I missed him.“Meadow?” Tony shook my shoulder gently.“Yeah?” We were standing in front of a Chinese restaura

JameyPanic.I panicked at the office when Meadow passed the stupid message Debby gave, I panicked when I follow her from work and watch her get dinner and walk home, I panicked when I see her dumbass ex wait for her outside of her apartment, I panicked when they spent over 2 hours in her apartment and I panicked when I watched him kiss her.It was also panic that made me drive away as she walked to my car.But what was I supposed to do? How was I going to explain that I had been following her since the left work and had been watching her. She would think I was stalking her. I mean technically I was but in a good way. Or worse she would think I was a creep. The truth? I was slowly turning into one.But I knew she knew. I knew she knew I was there when she hesitated to go upstairs with him, when she looked out of the window of her apartment and when she walked calmly towards me.She knew.I was a mess without her. I didn’t think my life could get any worse but somehow, someway, it di

MeadowHe ruined it.Tony had ruined the only good thing I was looking forward to having. My chicken Caesar salad sandwich. Not only had he ruined my appetite, I had to share my food. I ordered two sandwiches for myself for a reason.I was starving and wasn’t expecting company and honesty I didn’t want any but here he was.Seated on my couch, watching tv and eating my sandwich. My night couldn’t get any worse.“We were so good together Meadow” His voice soft.I had spoken too soon. It just did.I had pretended not to notice him staring at me for the last 10 minute as I forced down my delicious sandwich. It wasn’t meant to be forced down, it was meant to be savored and enjoyed. This really wasn’t how I planned my night.“Mmh” I mumbled shoving the sandwich in my mouth allowing to not answer. My attention still on the TV when he spoke again. “I miss you meadow. I miss us”Of for fucking sake. I didn’t need this, not right now. Actually, not ever.Swallowing hard, “Tony please. I’m re

  • Tempted by the Tycoon   Chapter 42

MeadowIt had been a few weeks since work had resumed fully and it felt like all my bad decisions were catching up to me. Jamey- My boss hadn’t tried talking to me aside the single text he sent that night. The photo fiasco: Are you okay?Who was he to ask me that?He was every reason why I wasn’t but I would rather die than admit that.I restricted our communication to work related emails. It was a relief that I hadn’t had to work late or attend meetings or business trips with him, it would have been a lot harder if I did.It was for the best, but somewhere deep down I missed it.I missed him.No Meadow. No you don’t.Although, His fiancé-Debby made it relatively easier to keep hating him. She strolled in and out of his office every other day, and always left with a huge grin on her face.Whatever. I didn’t care. I’m still very thankful that Jamey had sound proof doors and walls, because I wasn’t sure how I handle hearing whatever they were doing or saying in there that made her leav

  • Tempted by the Tycoon   Chapter 41

Jamey“You did what!” I yell, staring at Debby.“Drugged you” She replied, like it was the most casual thing in the world.I wake to up an agonizing headache, 5 missed calls from my dad, 15 missed calls from Omar and 1 million new follower on i*******m.I wasn’t even on fucking I*******m.It takes about 15 minute to understand where I was, why I was shirtless and why the fuck I had an i*******m account. I hated social media, it was a fake world that I wanted no part in. The only social media I used was my email, and most people wouldn’t even consider that social media. “How the fuck did you drug me and why would you even do that in the first place?” I said standing up but fall back into bed quickly as the sudden wave of dizziness hit me.“Oh yeah, that’s the side effect of the drugs. You’ll be dizzy and nauseous for a few hours but you’ll be fine” she said scrolling through her phone. “Don’t we just look so cute” Shoving the phone into my face.I blink, grab the phone, stare at the pi

MeadowIf anyone were to ask me how I would describe myself, I would say artistic. That was by far my favorite attribute. I recently just turned 20 and was slowly adjusting to adult life, especially so far from home. If anyone had told me I would get a good job in my dream city, I would have slappe

And it doesn't matter anyway, I'm going to fire her n

JameyI hate Mondays, I hate work, I hate people, I hate noise, in short, I hate everything except money, power, and respect, maybe a good smoke once in a while, but that was very rare.
