Instead of driving her car, Yvette decided to ride a taxi on her way to Clyde’s house. Because if she’ll pretend to be her sister, she needed to act like she doesn’t know how to drive. Because people around Yvonne know for a fact that she can’t drive even with the numerous lessons that she took before.
After an hour of travelling, the taxi that she was riding finally entered a subdivision. That’s why she became attentive to her surroundings because she needs to tell the driver the right directions for them to arrive exactly at Clyde’s place.
Yvette never expected that she’ll find the information, from her sister’s random stories whenever they talk through text or call or video chat, useful at this moment. Like their house’s address and how it looks like, the name of their house helpers, and even the name of their gardeners. She knows every person that’s related to her twin because of how talkative she was. The reason also why she founds this pretend thing like a piece of cake.
But upon the thought of her sister, Yvette can’t help but smile sadly.
Now, who will tell her random stories like a kid?
Yvette closed her eyes and tried to think of happy thoughts to stop herself from being emotional. She needs to pull herself together so her plan will go like what she expected. She can’t fail. Because that will make her sister’s death go in vain and she can’t let that happen.
After telling the taxi driver the directions, Yvette finally arrived in front of a mansion-like house. Yvette already expected that Clyde’s house will be grand because she saw it from the pictures that Yvonne sent her before. But still, she can’t help but be amazed upon seeing it personally because it felt different.
The moment she stepped out of the car, two bodyguards immediately attended to her which startled her a bit but she immediately calmed herself.
“Welcome home, Ma’am Yvonne,” the guards greeted her politely with a bow.
“Thank you,” she responded as she mimics Yvonne’s way of speaking.
After greeting her, one of them proceeds to the door and opened it up for her. She confidently stepped inside the house like it was her turf and there she was greeted by another person. It was Auntie Alice, the only person in this place who is close to Yvonne.
“Ma’am Yvonne!” The old lady exclaimed as she run toward her with open arms.
“Auntie Alice!”
“Goodness! Where have you been, huh? We’ve been looking for you for days…” Auntie Alice uttered consecutively while hugging her.
“I’m sorry for not telling you but I just went on a vacation. That’s it…” Yvette trailed which is a lie. After she said that, Auntie Alice broke their hug.
“You should’ve at least told us or just me, Yvonne. If you want me to keep your vacation a secret then I can do that. I was worried sick for you, you know?”
Because of Auntie Alice’s genuine words, Yvette can’t help but feel bad. It made her wonder how will the old lady react if she knew the truth? But she was relieved a little. Because she learned that there is another person beside her who genuinely worries and cares for her twin sister.
“I’m really sorry, Auntie. But hey, I’m here now. You don’t need to worry anymore. I’m fine…”
“Yeah, right. It’s a relief that you’re back. For sure I can now sleep in peace tonight,” The old lady kiddingly uttered which made both of them chuckle a little.
“Anyways, since you’re here, do you want me to prepare you some snacks?”
“Sure, Auntie. Just bring it to my room, I’ll just take a rest.”
“Okay then,” Auntie Alice gave her a nod.
After that short conversation, Yvette took her chance to wander around the huge house. From the floor, up to the ceiling, every piece of furniture, all of those screamed luxury but surprisingly it wasn’t that overwhelming. Or maybe because she owns some luxury brand items that’s why she wasn’t overwhelmed by it?
But going back, she went upstairs to check their room. She didn’t struggle in finding the master’s bedroom because she knows where it is located. That’s why when she reached the door, she opened it without thinking that much and as if it was her room.
Yvette wandered her eyes around the entirety of the room. Just like the theme of the whole house, the room also screams simplicity yet elegance. A king-size bed with a side table, a wooden lamp, a set of leather sofa, carpeted floor, a chandelier, a study table, a walk-in closet and a wide window with thick curtains.
But her eyes stopped in a picture frame that was sitting on the bedside table.
It was a picture of a man and a familiar woman. It was a wedding picture of Clyde and Yvonne. Her twin was smiling so bright in the picture but Clyde was just wearing a serious face.
That made Yvette scoff in annoyance.
Goodness, Yvonne… I love you but why the heck did you let yourself suffer like this?!
After that, she went straight ahead to the walk-in closet. And the moment she opened it her face was mopped with disgust and it was like she was hit with a sudden realization.
She forgot that her twin’s fashion sense wasn’t the same as hers.
“Damn…” She whispered when she saw the majority of clothes which were long sleeves, turtle neck blouses, and polo shirts. “This won’t do.”
How will she wear these kinds of clothes in this hot and humid weather? If she did, then it will be torture to her skin! And as a fashion designer, these kinds of clothes don’t suit her stylish concept. Yes, she’ll continue pretending that she’s her twin sister but she can’t wear her clothes.
So, if someone pointed it out, let’s just say that within a month of her disappearance, a lot of changes happened. And that includes her choice of clothes.
It wasn't the first time that Yvette got some cravings that were out of this world, and they would always end up traveling just so she could eat the food she was craving.Other than that, her mood swings were the worst. Clyde could really tell that if their baby is a daughter, it might be a pain in the ass and feisty like her mom.But aside from those things, Yvette has the weirdest hormones; they could do it wherever they were, mostly in public places, because Yvette was just feeling it so Clyde really had to be so discreet and do everything just to give whatever she wanted. Clyde could really tell how wild Yvette was as a pregnant woman, but at the same time, he was so proud because it seemed like she was craving for him the most out of those foods she wanted in the middle of the night.Their wedding was approaching, as they were already choosing some guests for the distribution of the invitation cards."You're going to invite him? Really?" Clyde raised his brow as soon as he saw B
They had dinner that night together with Clyde's parents as they talked about the upcoming wedding day."Is it at the church? Or a beach wedding?" Mr. Smith asked.Clyde then looked at Yvette."I think I'm going to like the church," Yvette said, looking at Clyde, who nodded as well."And where? Here in Paris? Or in New York?""We both like to try it here first in Paris, then we could set another one in New York," Clyde answered."Oh wow. That's actually a nice idea. With different themes. It would be cute." Maybe before the baby comes out, and then after, so my grandchild would be there at the second wedding. It's a good transition, actually," Mrs. Smith said, smiling from ear to ear.Yvette might now shout how excited she was, but deep down, she was really looking forward to it. It was an unexpected plot twist happening in her life; she didn't plan on getting married knowing how independent she was, as she knew to herself she didn't want a man in her life. But it seems like life has
When tomorrow morning came, the first thing that welcomed their sight was Clyde's parents, who were already in front of the door of Yvette's penthouse.Clyde helped them with their things, as Mrs. Smith cannot take her eyes off Yvette. Yvette was kind of nervous because she knew his mother knew she was Yvette and not Yvonne, which she used to know.Mrs. Smith's eyes drifted to her hands as if she were trying to find some evidence, and there it was: the ring."Wow. I haven't really appreciated Paris this much. But wow. It's quite not bad, huh? It felt so peaceful and cozy," Mr. Smith commented as he looked out the window, seeing the Eiffel Tower as a view."Yvette is quite obsessed with Paris, Dad," Clyde said after putting their things in their own room, which is the guest room.Mr. Smith glanced at his son. "Now I slowly understand why you're obsessed with it too. You almost wanted to live here." He arched his brow.Clyde stifled his smile and looked at Yvette, who smiled a little to
Their wedding preparation is now ongoing. Clyde has never left Yvette's side, even though her stomach isn't that big yet. And Yvette, who seems so clingy to Clyde, can't last a minute apart from him as well."Phew, lovebirds. I could really tell that you two are so madly in love with each other," Damon commented as soon as he went in with Trisha in the safe. They were planning to meet up for the food tasting to be served on the wedding day, and Yvette wanted to have Clyde by her side.Trisha giggled when she saw that even their hands were intertwined. It was so unusual to see the coldhearted and heartless Yvette, who's being lovey-dovey to her fiancé.Damon and Trisha took a seat as they both looked at their hands intertwined. And Trisha, who wanted to make a satire out of it, put her hand on Damon's hand as well, and they intertwined it.Clyde shook his head, but there was a playful smile kissing his lips. They were just interrupted when the cakes were already served.Clyde took a sm
After Clyde found out that Yvette was pregnant, he was three times more careful. Even the speed didn’t reach forty, and he would glance at her from time to time while his other hand rested on the side of her leg, as if she couldn't stand a chance of being away from him."I’m kind of worried. Aren’t you planning to rest working? You have your team. And most of your brands have a manager to handle it. You should just stay at home, you know," he encouraged as if only Yvette would just stop moving just to focus on herself."It’s just weeks, Clyde, you paranoid. And my work wasn’t that heavy to handle. I just attend invites, review the sales, make new designs... that’s all. Though it’s quite loaded every day, it’s bearable. It’s not something that requires rest because I’m having fun with those too.”"Or I’ll have a year's leave from the company to be with you all the time?" he suggested carefully, as he really looked determined to be with her."Stop it. I can handle myself as a pregnant w
Yvette’s eyes widened. For the longest time that she has been with Melissa, she didn’t see it coming. She always looked up to her like a mentor, someone whom she wanted to be when she reached her forties or fifties. She inspires her on so many levels that she’s one of the reasons she stayed in the field of fashion design, as she wanted to pursue it so badly despite the obstacles she has faced in the past. And even though she received some hate because of her decision, she will never regret that she found Melissa during those years. She will never regret that she took a risk, despite how heavy the journey would be.For the years of being with her, she has always been thankful to her, and sometimes she thinks she wasn’t thankful enough for telling it to her, for always including her in her success, for showing it to her, because Yvette believes how much Melissa deserves the world, and she wanted to give everything to her.It was the kind of relationship she unexpectedly found—a kind of
