A month later…

Yvette had just come out of a shower when Yvonne’s phone rang. Yes, she kept her sister’s phone because her gut feeling was telling her that she can use her sister’s device for future purposes. And guess what? She did. For the past days, she’s been receiving calls from Clyde Smith, her sister’s husband.

But instead of ignoring the call as she did for the past days, this time she confidently answered the call. Clyde, on the other line, was surprised that his wife picked up.

About damn time.

“Where are you?” He straightly asked without any greetings just like what he usually does.

“Is that the right way to greet your wife, Mister Smith?” Yvette uttered in greeted teeth.

Is this how he usually communicates with my sister? Because if it is, then what the actual fuck?

Clyde was taken aback by the words of his wife which made his forehead crease. Did she just call her by his surname? Also, the tone of her voice was slightly different too from what he’s used to.

“As if you’re not used to this, Yvonne.” He lazily answered, after shrugging the differences that he noticed. Yvette clenched her fist upon hearing Clyde’s words. This just confirmed her question from a while ago.

‘As if you’re not used to this?!’ Good God, this guy is a jerk! Why did her sister fall for this man?!

“What a piece of shit,” she unconsciously mumbled.

Clyde heard that loud and clear and that took him by surprise. In their 3 years of marriage, never did he hear Yvonne curse. Well, not until now. And for some reason, why did he find that hot?

What the fuck, Clyde? Are you out of your mind? Clyde immediately shook his head to shrug his ridiculous thoughts.

“I’m asking you for the last time, Yvonne, when are you planning to come home?” he asked once again when he regained his cool.

“Why are you even asking? Do you even care?” Yvette didn’t even stutter when she asked those questions to Clyde.

If Yvonne lets this guy treat her like this, then take her in a different light. One of the things that Yvette hated the most is rude people. She can’t stand them. That’s why whenever she can, she puts these kinds of people in their right places. This is the reason why her workmates call her a feisty woman. She’s not afraid of talking back to people who are disrespectful to others.

“For goodness’ sake, woman, just answer the damn question!” Clyde exclaimed, not being able to contain his frustration.

Yvette smirked at herself when she heard how Clyde’s tone shifted from calm and collected to frustrated. She knows that she hit a nerve.

That’s right. Be pissed, asshole. I’m just starting…

“Calm down now, Mister Smith, I know that you miss me that much that’s why I’m coming home later,” she sassily answered while looking at her new polished nails.

“You’re ridiculous,”

“Talking to yourself?” Yvette immediately answered back with a victorious smile on her lips.

“You—” She didn’t even let Clyde finish his words and just ended the call.

If this guy thinks that he can be always rude to Yvonne, then she will serve as his karma. Her sister is now gone because of him and she can’t let that slide. She will take her revenge, in more ways than one. And her plan of revenge starts today.

“Buckle up, Clyde Smith. I’ll make sure that you’ll experience what happens if hell breaks loose,” she uttered to herself venomously.

The pain of her twin sister’s death is still fresh in her heart. She’s still mourning but she can’t just stay in her weak and vulnerable state because she knows that her sister wouldn’t like it. She knows her as a fighter. Even though she’s hurting, she’ll still fight. That’s why with burning desire, she bravely swore to the heavens that she will make Yvonne’s husband pay.

Because no one hurts my twin sister and gets away with it unscathed.

Clyde was rendered speechless when he heard how the call with his wife was cut off. He can’t believe it. Just what on earth happened with her wife while she was away? Why does she act and sound rude all of a sudden? Those are just some of his questions but he’s aware that he can’t have the answer just yet, not unless he asks his wife personally about it or she tells him directly.

But how will he do that or how will it happen if their relationship wasn’t that close, to begin with? Yes, they’re a married couple. But to what extent? In paper only.

His thoughts were cut off when someone knock on his office door.

“Come in,” He commanded. The door opened and it revealed his secretary.

“What is it?” He coldly asked without even looking at the young man directly.

“I’m just here to report about Mrs Smith, sir. We finally received a reply from her saying that she’s going home later tonight,” The young man explained calmly.

“I know. She called and told me that herself.”

“If that’s the case, then my business here is done, Sir. I’ll take my leave now.” His secretary excused himself before bowing at him and leaving his office.

Clyde sat back on his office chair, closing his eyes.

As much as he doesn’t want to concern himself about his wife’s whereabouts, he’s starting to get bothered by her disappearance. He’s not used to it. But that doesn’t mean that he misses her. Also, the fact that his parents are starting to bombard him with questions about Yvonne and their plans, he knows that any time soon, they might be summoned to his parents’ mansion. And if that happens and Yvonne is still nowhere to be found, who knows what might happen?

That’s why it was such a relief that he got a hold of his wife again after a month.

But after having that kind of conversation with his wife a while ago… Why does he feel like something changed?
