Chapter 14: Truth Is Subjective

The door flung wide, flooding the little room with bright artificial light. Serine squinted, trying to shield herself from the awful light while trying to figure out who or what had assaulted her senses. For a few moments, two anthropomorphic shadows lingered in the brightly lighted threshold before entering the room and locking the door behind them.

Serine is serene as usual, never showing any signs of anxiety, and her stature is almost admirable. As the silhouettes became closer, she understood that the worst-case scenario she had imagined was about to happen.
