Madelyn's POV
“ Oh hello Madelyn. Mind telling me whose kids these are? Cause they fucking look like me!” CEO Black was more than furious. What exactly have I gotten myself into? I already had one taken from me, and now Valerie and Daniel. If he knows this two are his kids, he would definitely find about the other three. I didn't think it would be so hard trying to conceal them from him. If only Liam hadn't gone to him in the first place. How the hell did he even get a paternity test done? How did he find his father when even I was in the dark about who he was? So many questions. But now isn't the time to scold my kids and have them spill what they have been hiding. I needed to just come up with another lie. Something he would definitely buy. I looked over the huge raging figure and my eyes collided with a pretty advanced woman. She should definitely be in her eighties but she looked pretty and healthy regardless. Seems she always go about with warm smiles for anyone she came across. She flashed me a genuine heartwarming smile and beckoned on me to come to her. I didn't miss the resemblance between her and Black. So, this is her. The grandmother who would be excited to meet Liam. I heaved a sigh of relief, at least Liam would be in good hands if he ever gets taken away from me. She looks like a good old lady, the type to spoil their grandkids with lots of love and gifts. She called on me again but it was as if my legs refused to move. My gaze went from CEO Black who was literally giving me a look to kill to his Grandma who had the wildest smile I have ever seen spread out on her face. “ You are the mother of these lovely children?” she asked and her eyes went to Liam. She waved at him and he ran over to her. Seems like this two were acquaintances. I wrapped my arm protectively over Valerie and Daniel and hesitated for a while before I broke the eerie silence. “ Yes, they are mine.” “ They look so much like my grandson, Jas.” she patted the little space beside her on the bed, indicating that I sit. Jason had crashed on the little armchair at the far end of the room and just stared at us. “ Actually Grandma, they're not his. Only Liam is his child. I was just about to explain this to him before I got the call from the hospital.” The old lady only smiled in response. It was obvious she wasn't buying that story of mine, not even if her grandson did. “ So, who is this new man whose genes are exactly as Jason's? Cause all I see is CEO Black's kids and no one else's.” She had her arms crossed over her chest and it only meant I was in more deeper shit than I had thought it to be. Grandma was not going to believe my cock and bull story. Not even if I had to force her to accept it with a gun pointed at her head. “ Grandma, these kids are mine. Who I had them with doesn't matter. I met their father after giving birth to Liam. A year after Liam's birth..” Beckoning on Valerie and Daniel, she pouts her lips sweetly and grabbed a bowl of candies just on the small drawer beside the bed. “ Now darlings, do you want some candy?” as she spoke, she brought out about two pieces each and placed it in their palm. Oh good Lord, she certainly knows the way to my kids heart. Ice cream and candies were treats they would divulge any information you wanted to know for. If you promised to keep to your own end of the deal and provide them with as much candies and ice cream, then you just as well got yourself detectives. “ Do you want more? There's plenty of that where this came from..” “ Yes Grandma, we want more candies. Please give us more..” Valerie held the hem of her dress as she pleaded. CEO Black was amused. I saw a quick smile disappear as quickly as it came and I heaved a sigh. Not of relief, but of a parent who knew how much her kids would say in return for candies. “ You say you gave birth to them a year after Liam, right?” she directed that question to me and I nodded before the question even left her mouth. I knew what would happen next if I don't spill the truth or cause a distraction. “ Now kids, your brother, Liam, is seven years old right? How old are you both then?” “ Grandma, I'm s..” Valerie was about to let her loose tongue get us in a more bigger mess than we were when I stylishly pushed the porcelain flower vase and watch it crash on the floor with several thousands of pieces all over the room. It was Grandma who reacted first, she gripped Daniel and Valerie by the arm and drew them close to her. Black sprung on his feet and shot me one of those signature stares, one that meant he knew I was behind that little scene. I bit back my smile and pretended to panic. “ Come to mummy, my darling. It's been a pretty stressful day for you both. First the accident and now, this. Are you okay?” I scanned Valerie's body and studied Daniel who was a bit shaken. “ Are you okay Dan? What's wrong baby? Talk to mummy.” As I spoke with my kids, Liam went over to the old lady. “ Grandma, are you hurt? You should have some rest, you look tired.” My heart fluttered at my seven years old son nice words to the old lady. Black went out to get the cleaners to come clean the mess I created. With him out of the room, the atmosphere was less tense. At least I could leave now, without any further questions on the paternity of my kids. “ Thanks for your concern, Liam. Grandma will get enough rest, just as you have suggested. But before I do that, ” she patted Valerie's hair and tactically urged her to say what she wanted to before the flower vase accident. “ You didn't answer my question, Valerie. You were about to though, until the little disturbance. Go on, I'm listening.” “ Grandma, please get some rest now. Valerie and Daniel have to get home in time for their tutorials at home. Their tutor will be home any moment from now.” I took a quick glance at my wristwatch, to make my story sound real as possible. Before my kids could expose their mother for the blatant liar she was, I quickly asked them to wait outside the ward. There was no tutor or home tutorials, it was just a ploy to help us leave this place faster. “Alright my dear. Um, I don't recall getting your name, darling.” “ Madelyn. My name is Madelyn, grandma. And that's enough discussion for today, you need to get as much rest as you can. We will be on our way now, we will stop by the hospital tomorrow if you aren't discharged yet.” That was just another lie. I wasn't dropping by. If I had my way, I would disappear from this city with my kids. I don't want them taken away from me, hence I would do anything to keep them safe and hidden from CEO Black. “ Alright Madelyn. Tell my grandchildren I love them so much.” I made sure she was comfortable on her bed before slipping out of the room without making a sound. She was one stubborn woman, she still referred to Valerie and Daniel as her grandchildren even after the story I came up with. “ Common, let's leave this place. There's a lot of explanation you owe me but I will let it slide for now. Let's just go home.” “ Mummy, is Grandma asleep yet? We can't leave until she's sleeping.” “ That's true mummy. Daddy isn't back yet and we can't just leave an old lady in her ward all by herself. What if she slips or wakes up asking for water?” This three had no idea how mad I was for whatever happened today. But I promise not to loose my cool, at least not yet. I took in a few drags of air and tried to stay calm. “ Now, you will listen to me. You're all in trouble and I'm not even kidding. I'm thinking of the perfect punishment you can get for what you did today. Especially you Liam! Where on earth did you even get a paternity test result done? How did you meet CEO Black? Why didn't you even tell me before showing up at his office? I'm so pissed right now and..” Caressing my temple with my fingers, I decided it would be best to leave before we sit down and have a discussion about whatever occured today. “ You know what? Let's just go home.” Holding Valerie's hand while Daniel and Liam followed right behind, we made for the exit. We were just two steps away from freedom. Two more steps and we would be out of this place. But, Valerie made our escape mission known to everyone around. “ Look, it's daddy! Daddy, mummy is taking us home. She's mad at us, can you please talk to her?” And here we go! My palm hits my face and I let out a small cry of pain and anger.“Look, it's daddy! Daddy, mummy is taking us home. She's mad at us, can you please talk to her?” The whole world stood still. All heads turned, eyes blinked rapidly and hearts stopped beating literally. A lot of whispers, a lot of muffled surprised sounds. The tiny cute creature ran to me and kept tugging at my suit. Under the numerous stares from all, I stooped to her level and patted her hair. She had brown beautiful hair, a charming set of dimples and the sweetest smile that could break ice. “ Mummy is mad? Did you do something wrong?” I looked past Valerie and found her, she was a bit impatient and probably anxious about something. “ Yes, she's annoyed with my brothers and I, daddy..” “ Valerie, we should get going. Your tutor would be home anytime soon. Let's go, young lady.” Madelyn's high pitched voice resonated through the hospital and everyone went about with their normal activities when I cast a few stares. They got the hint and all
Madelyn's POV Xavier had texted earlier that he was on his way after I told him my kids had been involved in an accident. Just a minute after we stepped out of the hospital, his car stopped. My babies were familiar with him already, they knew him as uncle Xavier but chose to refer to him as daddy. And he had never been uncomfortable with it. I met Xavier after I gave birth to my babies. We met at a certain company I had gone to deliver items. My father had cut me off the moment I refused to do his bidding and I was stripped off everything I had and was left with nothing, except a truckload of diamonds which were my children. I still ride pass our house every morning on my way to deliver items, and most times I bump into Mr. Adrian, my father. But he would sneer and look away, while making sure to tell everyone who were around that I used to be his daughter. In no short time, I had become the laughing stock of the city. The rejected heiress who w
Xavier's POV. With my attention divided between Madelyn and the road, it was hard to focus on driving. I wanted to know who her kid referred to as daddy. I wanted to know if the man I thought was behind this was actually the one. “ You know it's been approximately two minutes since I asked you a very crucial and important question, Madelyn. Are you going to answer the goddamn question or do I force it out of you?” Hands visibly shaking, face pale in less than a minute, lines of worry scribbled on her once beautiful face and a heart that beats faster. I have never seen her this scared or worried about nothing in the six years I have been with her. “ Madelyn..” I had stopped over. Couldn't risk us having an accident because I was trying to keep my eyes on the road and at the same time, trying to keep them on the young lady who had gone mute the moment Valerie said what she said. “ They.. my kids..” and she went blank
Grandma's POV It was yesterday I found I had a grandson. In fact, I was sure I had grandchildren cause the other two were just like my Jason. I was the mastermind behind the paternity test result. How on earth could a little boy would have had it done without the help of an adult? A week ago, I had just stepped into the elevator when a delivery lady and her son made for the elevator. It was already closing up and she pleaded that I held the elevator for them. “ Damnit! We have to take the stairs Liam, I really need to get this delivered as quickly as possible so I can get y'all to school.” she aired her frustration and ran her hand through her hair, pacing from left to right. The elevator chimed and reopened, and I saw a smile of relief light up her pretty face. For a moment, she had thought she missed it. She smiled at me and expressed gratitude while she and her son hurriedly got in. Fortunately, we were headed to the same floor. The littl
Madelyn's POV. It was yesterday. It was yesterday my kids found out about their father and I found out he was the man I shamelessly offered my body to few years back. Since my kids became able to communicate clearly, they had always asked where their father was or he was. I'm ashamed to say I had fed them lies for years now. I did it for their own good though, how would they feel after finding out I had them because of a one night affair with a total stranger? The first two years they asked about their dad, I showed them a photograph of someone. It was a photo of my younger brother. I hung photos of him everywhere in their room and they believed me. They believed their dad was a pilot and he had been away since mom's seventh month of pregnancy and hasn't returned home since then. They would brag about it to their peers and it only made my heart ache when I saw how genuinely happy and proud they were of a person I didn't even know. Soon, more questions start
There has been akward silence in the well ventilated, exquisite office. I'm seated here, occasionally glancing at my wristwatch and patiently waiting for the twenty minutes of courtesy I had promised to give to be over, so I could walk out that door without the slightest feeling of emotion. I got the shocking call from Jason this morning. I hurried up with my breakfast and fed my babies. Before I scurried out of the house like a mouse being chased by a cat, I sat them down and gave them reasons why the remaining five of them can't let Jason know that they are his. I solemnly swore to be honest and transparent henceforth and to never tell a lie to them, even at the expense of my life. They were unhappy but at least I made them see reasons with me. Even if I was going to get married to Jason, I needed to keep my kids safe. Anything could happen, he could file for divorce one morning and insist on taking the children. I will be left with nothing but a few bucks as
Jason's POV “ You don't threaten me with my children, ma'am. I mean, you said it yourself that they were mine, so what makes you think you can take them away from me? Not even Liam, who is Jason's son.” I wanted to step in and tell grandma she had gone a bit far but I respect her so much. She is one wise lady and she always has a reason for whatever she is doing. So, I relaxed back on my chair and anticipated grandma's iconic reply. “ If I were you, I'd sit my ass down and rack my head for suggestions on how to put up with Jason.” Put up with me? I'm like the most loving man she could ever meet, so what's with the having to tolerate me? “ Okay, I have heard. I'm going to sit down and give you my own terms. If you want this to work, you would have to agree and then we are all set. Otherwise, I'm going to walk out that door with no regard for you and if you ever consider tracking me down and threatening to take my kids away from me, you sho
Madelyn. I slammed the office door behind me without giving a fuck about it. I just needed something or someone to feel the pain I felt after being humiliated in such a manner. How I kept my cool and waited till I was out of their presence before I let the river that had gathered in my eyes to run freely, is a mystery. Right outside the door, with my head resting on it while my tears run down my cheeks. I was hurting and needed just anyone to cry on. I don't mind paying a stranger off after crying freely to them and expressing just how much pain I feel right now. “ I believe a woman as beautiful as you shouldn't waste those pearls on a man. Your tears are precious, Madelyn. You shouldn't waste it on the wrong people.” He came. He always comes to my rescue. Without a second thought, I ran into his embrace and let it all out. Pain, sadness, anger, fear. I let it all out. I didn't say what was wrong with me when I texted, all I did was tell him I
