"Unbelievable! Why would she suddenly resign?"

"Guess you haven't heard about it yet, huh? Mr. Lawson went to the city hall today to propose, but apparently, he got stood up!"

"What? Are you serious?"

"Absolutely. I saw it with my own eyes. It's been the talk of the town!" one of them insisted.

"That's right. Turns out Isabella was the person Mr. Lawson wanted to propose to!" another exclaimed.

"T-That's crazy… Are you sure it's not some fake news?"

These rumors spread through the company like wildfire. My resignation, coupled with Julian being stood up, sparked endless speculations.

Everyone began to recall all the interactions between Julian and me. All the details they once overlooked were now blown out of proportion and twisted into all sorts of meanings.

"Come to think of it, Isabella had been so good to Mr. Lawson. It's heartbreaking the way she was treated."

Our days were constantly bustling with the five of us living together under the same roof. But one afternoon, an uninvited guest showed up at our door."Someone's here to see you, Isabella," Trevor suddenly said."Who is it?" I asked puzzledly. He smiled mysteriously as he replied, "You'll know once you see him."I followed Trevor to the living room only to see an all-too-familiar figure standing there. It was Julian. There was a complicated look in his gaze when he rushed over to me. "I've finally found you, Bella!" he exclaimed. After so many years, I'd almost forgotten that he existed. The sight of him caused my face to twist in disgust. I was just about to lash out when Aaron stepped in front of me. "Who are you?" he asked warily."My name's Julian Lawson, and I'm Isabella's boyfriend," Julian replied.I quickly explained when Aaron turned to look at me, "Don't listen to him. He's just a stranger to me now."Then, I shot an icy glare at Julian. "There's nothing betwee

I gradually began to adapt to my new life here. With Trevor's help, I found a job and even made some new friends. Over time, my life slowly got back on track.Once, I met a charming man who spoke with remarkable poise at the company gathering. He offered to drive me home after the meal had ended."Are you from Lutheria by any chance, Ms. Norton?" the man asked as he drove."Yes, that's right. How did you know that?" I was caught by surprise."I could tell from your accent. Besides, your last name isn't exactly common around here." He let out a chuckle."My name's Aaron Sampson. I'm a Lutherian as well," he introduced."It's nice to meet you, Aaron," I replied politely. I had no intention of getting involved any further with him."What a small world! I never expected to meet a fellow countryman abroad. Just let me know if you need any help in the future." I could see the genuine sincerity in Aaron's eyes when he spoke."Thank you." A gentle surge of warmth washed over me. It f

I traveled across the world to break free from the shadows of my past. A month later, I arrived in Fleurrone to find my family. It wasn't until the plane landed that I finally felt at ease. Though the air abroad carried a hint of chill, it felt refreshingly crisp and liberating.I immediately spotted a familiar figure in the crowd the moment I walked out of the airport with my suitcase in hand. It was my brother, Trevor Norton."Bella!" Trevor's voice brimmed with surprise and delight. He hurried toward me and pulled me into a tight embrace."I'm here," I murmured as I nestled against his shoulder. My eyes gradually grew misty as I listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat."You're finally back. Come on, Bella. Let's go home." His gaze was filled with affection as he patted my back.Trevor and I spent the rest of the ride catching up on life as he drove me home. Our conversation mostly revolved around Mom's and Dad's health as well as some trivial matters that had occurred b

She walked right up to Julian and handed him a slip of paper with the word "proposal" written on it."I heard you've been waiting here all day. I know how upset you must be feeling right now, so I came to keep you company. If you wish, we can head in and register our marriage immediately." Natalie gazed affectionately at Julian as she spoke. Her eyes shone with expectation as she awaited his response. However, Julian seemed oblivious to her presence. His gaze was hollow, and his face was devoid of any expression."Scram," he spat out. His voice brimmed with disgust and fury.Natalie's smile froze at his response. She hadn't expected him to treat her that way. With me gone, Natalie was convinced that she'd emerged victorious in this relationship. But it seemed she was mistaken.Tears welled up in her eyes. She considered herself to be better than me in every way, so why did all her efforts fail to capture Julian's heart? What was it about me, a good-for-nothing, that managed to

I let out a long breath the moment the plane lifted off. It felt as though I'd finally fulfilled a wish of mine that I'd suppressed in my heart for years.Closing my eyes, I switched my phone to airplane mode before I let myself drift to sleep. I'd waited far too long for a rest like this.My favourite light music played on repeat in my earphones, and the gentle tune almost made me forget all the pain I'd suffered in the past.My voice trembled as I whispered to myself, "You're finally free, Isabella."For years, I'd been consumed by my love for Julian to the point that I'd lost all sense of self. I was willing to do anything for his sake, but every proposal I'd made up to the 99th attempt had only led to rejection and disappointment.Even then, I'd never thought of giving up. I believed that my devotion would move his heart as long as I loved him deeply enough. But I was completely wrong. To him, my affection was nothing more than a laughable one-sided obsession. Perhaps he woul
