POV: Celeste Moreau

My scream echoed through the stone walls of my refuge as I fell to my knees. The vision hit me like a punch to the gut—blue fire everywhere, a girl floating in the air, and a woman with eyes as black as night rising from Silver Lake.

"Mistress!" My trainee Finn rushed to my side, his young face twisted with worry. "What is it? What did you see?"

I couldn't speak. My whole body shook as the images burned themselves into my mind: Amara Kings, the girl I'd helped betray, surrounded by blue fire and facing a thing with her own face.

"It's happening," I whispered, holding the edge of my scrying bowl. The water inside still rippled with the aftershocks of my vision. "The Harbinger has awakened."

"The Harbinger?" Finn's eyes widened. "But you said that was just a story to scare little witches."

I shook my head, trying to stand. My legs felt like water. "I was wrong. I was wrong about everything."

The candles around us flickered

  • The Accused Mate   Shadows of the Past

POV: Viktor BeaumontI plunged the ritual knife into the wooden floor, not into my nephew's back as Ingrid had feared. The symbols on the blade glowed bright blue, making a circle of protection around us as Orion's attack slammed against it."Stay inside the circle!" I shouted as the windows shattered. "It won't hold for long, but it will give us time!"Chaos exploded in the pack hall. Wolves scattered, some changing forms, others running for weapons. Elias pulled Amara close, protecting her with his body even as she tried to push past him toward her brother."What is this?" Elias demanded, looking at the glowing barrier between us and Orion's forces. "Uncle, what have you done?"Ingrid struggled against her chains, eyes wild with fear and hate. "He's working for The Mother! Can't you see?""I've never worked for her," I said strongly, pulling Alexander's journal from my pocket again. "This will prove it."The barrier shook as Orion—or rather, The Mo

  • The Accused Mate   Secrets and Shadows

POV: Ingrid DevereauxI lunged forward, but the chains tying my wrists to the floor stopped me short. Pain shot through my shoulders as I strained against the silver links."You have no idea what you're doing!" I shouted at my son. "That girl will destroy everything!"Elias stood at the head of the pack circle, his face hard as stone. Beside him stood Amara Kings, the witch who had bewitched him. Around us, the entire Artemis Pack watched in silence."Mother," Elias said, his voice cold. "You stand accused of conspiracy against your Alpha and planning against his true mate. How do you plead?"I laughed bitterly. My own kid. My flesh and blood. Now he looked at me like I was a stranger."I plead that I was trying to save you," I spat. "Save all of us."The pack hall fell silent. Outside, I could hear the sounds of fighting. The Mother's followers were still striking, led by Amara's brother. But that fight seemed far away now. This was a different kind

  • The Accused Mate   The Truth Comes Home

POV: Elias BeaumontI ducked as a glass vase smashed against the wall behind me, inches from my head."You dare bring that murderer into our home?" My mother's voice echoed through the Artemis Pack house. Her face was red with anger as she pointed at Amara, who stood beside me, chin high and eyes fierce."She's not a murderer," I said, keeping my voice calm even though my heart was racing. "Luther Cain killed Kamla and blamed Amara. We all heard his confession at the Blood Moon area."My mother, Ingrid, laughed bitterly. "And you believe her? After everything that happened?"Around us, pack members watched with wide eyes. Some looked confused. Others seemed afraid. No one knew what to believe anymore.I stepped forward, feeling the weight of my Alpha power rush through me. "I don't just believe her. I know she's telling the truth. And I have proof."I nodded to Marcus, my Beta—or at least, he had been. His commitment was now in question. He had known

  • The Accused Mate   The Alpha's Choice

POV: Amara KingsI kicked Luther's legs out from under him, sending him crashing to the ground. The pack circle around us roared as their former Beta hit the ground for the third time."Stay down," I warned, my chest rising with each breath. Blood dripped from a cut above my eye, but I barely felt it. My attention was entirely on the man who had destroyed my life.Luther spat blood onto the ground. "Never," he growled, his eyes flickering between their regular brown and the black of The Mother's influence. "I'll die before I bow to Charles's brat."He lunged at me again, claws extended. I sidestepped, grabbed his arm, and used his speed to slam him face-first into the ground. The sound of his nose breaking was sickeningly pleasurable."That's for framing me for Kamla's murder," I said.Three days ago, I'd been on the run, injured and lost. Then my mother's ghost had appeared, healing me and telling the truth about my heritage. Now I was back, fighting fo

  • The Accused Mate   Buried Truths

POV: Orion BlackwoodI smashed the lock with the butt of my knife, sending metal bits flying. The secret door beneath Charles Winters' office finally gave way after my third try."Got it," I whispered to myself, looking over my shoulder. The pack house was too quiet. Most of the Blood Moon wolves were either dead, fighting The Mother's troops in the forest, or had fled. But Luther's loyalists were still out there, hunting for anyone linked to Amara.Hunting for me.I slipped through the secret door and down a narrow staircase. After fleeing from The Mother's prison two days ago, I'd been hiding in the woods, watching the pack house. I needed to get inside, to find the proof Charles had mentioned in his final letter to me.Find the truth beneath my feet. What was stolen can be recovered. For eighteen years, I'd thought Charles Winters was my enemy - the man who exiled me from the only home I'd ever known. Now I knew he was trying to protect me. To pro

  • The Accused Mate   Between Two Worlds

POV: Luna Seraphina Winters (Spirit)I pushed through the veil between life and death, fighting against the currents that tried to pull me back. Eighteen years I'd waited for this moment. Eighteen years trapped in the spirit world, watching my daughter suffer without being able to help her.Until now.Amara slumped against the wall of the abandoned house where Celeste had left her. Blood soaked through her shirt from the wound an assassin had given her before they fled. Her eyes fluttered, awareness slipping away."Amara!" I called, my voice like wind through leaves. "Stay awake!"She blinked, looking around the dim room. "Who's there?"I gathered my strength, pulling energy from the moonlight streaming through the broken window. Slowly, my form took shape – fuzzy at first, then clearer.Amara's eyes widened. "Mom?"My heart – or what left of it – ached at that single word. She recognized me, even though she'd been just a baby when I died."Y

  • The Accused Mate   The Price of Power

POV: Celeste MoreauI thrust my hands forward, sending a wall of green fire between Amara and the black-eyed attacker trying to kill her. The fire caught his cape, making him scream as he rolled on the ground."Get down!" I shouted, pulling Amara behind a fallen tree as three more attackers burst from the trees.I hadn't been back to the Blood Moon Pack area in nearly twenty years. Now it was a war zone. Wolves fought against the Mother's followers everywhere, bodies covered the ground, and buildings burned in the distance."Who are you?" Amara gasped, blood trickling from a cut on her face. Her eyes were wild with fear and confusion. "Why are you helping me?""Celeste Moreau," I said, looking over our cover. "And I'm helping because I owe your mother a debt."Amara's face hardened. "My mother is dead.""I know. I was there when it happened."The girl's eyes widened, but before she could answer, the ground beneath us trembled. A few yards away, E

  • The Accused Mate   The Pack's Division

POV: Gamma Rael NovakI ducked as a chair flew over my head and smashed against the wall. The pack meeting room had turned into a battlefield."Traitor!" someone yelled from across the room. "Elias abandoned us!""He's still our Alpha!" I yelled back, jumping onto the table to be heard over the chaos. "Everyone, stop fighting!"But nobody listened. Half the pack backed Elias, while the others had sided with his mother, Ingrid. Without Elias here to lead us, the Artemis Pack was falling apart.A fist came flying at my face. I stopped it and pushed the attacker away, not wanting to hurt a packmate. These were my friends, my family. How had things gotten so bad?"Enough!" The strong voice of Ingrid Devereaux cut through the noise as she entered the room. Everyone froze."This is what happens when we follow a weak Alpha," she said, her eyes cold as ice. "My son picked a murderer over his pack. Now look at us."I jumped down from the table, my heart b

  • The Accused Mate   The Secret Guardian

POV: Elder Thalia ReedI slammed my walking stick into the bright purple barrier, shattering it like glass. At seventy-three years old, I might look weak, but my magic was stronger than ever."Hurry!" I called to the young wolves behind me. "We don't have much time!"The children dashed through the gap in Luther's magical shield before it could reform. These were the youngest members of the Blood Moon Pack – innocent pups caught in a war they didn't understand.Emma, the youngest, grabbed my hand. "Elder Thalia, I'm scared."I squeezed her small fingers. "I know, sweetheart. But we're almost safe."A lie, but a required one. No one was safe tonight. The sound of fighting echoed through the trees. The Mother's followers – dogs with black eyes – were everywhere, hunting down those who resisted. I had to get these children to the safe house before we were noticed. For eighteen years, I had kept my head down. Watched and waited. Protected Amara Kings
