Kayden’s pov

What kind of a woman was she!?

“ What!? Are you……. What do you mean? I was supposed to say that!” I barked at her……. This woman is unbelievable.

She scoffed and raised her chin again, “ yes! I just said it and you can shove your freaking mate bond up your ass. Mr. Grumpy.”

What th…? Did she just?

‘ calm down, you are making mate angry!’ Xane snapped at me.

‘ Angry? She’s making me pissed!’ I am trying to help her here.

‘I think you should calm down.’ Xane wasn’t taking it.

“ You know what?! I don’t like you. I don’t at all! You are just too….” I could barely finish my sentence when she cut me.

“ self centered? Foolish? Stupid? Yeah. It smells in you. You reek of it…” I heard her say something else under else under her breath but I didn’t get it.

“ I don’t even want you..”

“ And you are not getting me…….”

“ I’d be damed to take you as my mate….”

“ I’d rather loose my wolf than have you.” Her eyes were spitting fire by this time.

I stared down at her to intimidate her with my height but she didn’t back away.

I felt my throat clot making me stay quiet. I pushed my black hair to the side before becoming stiff as her gaze upon me. There is something unique about her.

“ fine… then fine, you can go. But the next time I see you here, that pretty little mouth of yours would be put to good use.”

She laughed….. she laughed hard……. What kind of silly creature would laugh at this moment?

“ You speak for yourself Grumpy! I don’t even plan on stepping my foot on here anymore. To hell with you and you can shove your fucking help up your ass.”

Before I could give a reply she made a turn to move but loosed her balance. Every other thing became a blur as my hands moved to hold her from falling.

A certain fire ran through our connected body as if an effect of our close proximity. As if she felt it too, she pushed me away and spoke something under her breath that I didn’t quite get.

“. Oh and miss kitten,” I spoke when she started walking, “ We do not want to start a war we can’t finish now can we?”

“ she gave me a smirk, “ Oh but I do love war Mr. Grumpy.”

Damn…….. what a woman.

I got home so angry. My head was banging and i needed something to cool it off.

“ come on Kayden, calm down. Don’t be so hard on yourself.” Cane, my beta said again.. I cannot remember the times he’s said that.

Cane was my right hand man, he know everything about me and he helps a lot. We’ve known since birth as his father was my father’s beta.

He has brown locks that swings whenever he talks, though he’s a bit taller than me, my body is more built.

“ calm? A little brat literally just insulted my reputation! I won’t take that!”

“ you should have done something when she was here. She’s gone! Leave her be. You need time now to focus on the matter at hand.”

“ she called me self centered, who does she think she is?” I grabbed the bottle from the shelf and drank from it.

“ damn man! A woman? You are literally affected by a mere woman?” I could feel the mockery in his voice. Damn you cane.

“ just forget about it, she can get else somewhere else and you can get help from some other persons.”

I felt another presence as i turned to face Melanie who just walked in.

“ Help uhn? Who’s helping who?” She move around to sit on me.

“ Yo man, I’m out.” Cane walked out before I could respond. He does that a lot. When Melanie and I make out, he always walk out.

He once confessed to me how he despised melanie. He claimed something is always off around her. But I know his predictions are wrong. I mean, who wouldn’t love a soul like melanie?

“Your boy is still as hateful as always.” She rolled her eyes as she got off me to get a drink.

“ It’s just him, he’ll come over it.”

“ He should. I heard about your meeting with the ‘ Alpha’.” She poured herself a drink and took a sip.

New travels faster….. Bad news, to be precise.

“ what exactly did you hear?”

“ well….. just a little this and that.”

“ The ‘Alpha’ was a female.” My reply was swift… I don’t know what she heard, but I know it wasn’t the ultimate truth.

“ So I heard.” The look she was giving was something else… It didn’t end there.

“ And…?”

“ And…?” She repeated my question.. Melanie is not that hard to get but she was trying hard to get.

“ She is my mate…” I drowned my gaze on her to fathom any emotion but she gave me none. Her split eyes gave nothing. She was playing hard, “ She is my mate.”

“ Are you going to leave me now?” She asked with uncertainty in her voice. Yet I couldn’t read her emotions. Her eyes told nothing.

“ You know I wouldn’t do that, I don’t need her.” She still wasn’t buying it.” I rejected her.” Lies

Her eyes lit up, and I could read them again, a glint of….. hope?

“ What about the message from the sage?” Her eyes were clear as she asked… it was burning, with anxiety.

“ I haven’t thought of that, yet.”

“ We could ask another. There are lots of sages, we could go for another.” She spoke hesitantly as she moved to sit on me.

“ Do you think that is a good idea? Raine the sage has been the only one we seek.” I wasn’t sure about this decision.

She cupped my cheeks on her palm and kissed my lips, “ It’s just for once, we need another way to gain power. We need something to build your strength, a visit to the swarm won’t be a problem.”

“ you mean your mother’s hometown?” I wasn’t so certain about this.

“ yes and……….” She was cut shut and a guard rushed to us.

“ Alpha! There is a problem!”
