Lost!

“ Invaders!!!! Invaders!!!! Invaders!!!”

We wore clothes as fast as possible, got our weapons, and ran out of the room.

Everything was a blur after that, there was so much blood everywhere and we did our best to drive out the rogues, they were not ordinary, there was something about them that evoked me and it wasn't a good feeling.

This was not the first time we’ve experienced a rogue attack, but for the past few months it has been frequent. And these rogues were… different?

They were faster and they never died so easily, things that would have killed a normal wolf at just a contact had to be used three times before it killed one of them. We were getting tired till our innate beings started jumping into battle. Isis had to unleash her being in physical so she could assist me but it wasn’t enough, I had lost a lot of my people.

Suddenly, I sensed it, a wrong feeling. Something wasn’t right. I couldn’t feel him anymore. My eyes flickered around the room but it was too dusty to see.

"Xavier!" I screamed. He wasn't beside me anymore, he was always beside me, "Xavier!!" I screamed again, worry getting the better of me, I couldn't sense his wolf anymore. I started to panic till I saw a body, "no…" I ran to him and dropped beside him.

He was cut severely and he wasn't moving, or breathing, "Xavier please!" I shook him violently, everything was changing in my silver-colored eyes, "Xavier you promised to marry me! Stop playing around! We promised to be together tonight!” But Xavier didn't respond with a laugh when he pulled one of these pranks, nor did he drown me with those eyes. He wasn’t moving.

I had lost him. I lost the love of my life. It was all over. Everything was over. I broke down and mourned his death there and then, "Goddess why?!!" I screamed at the sky, my chocolate skin and black hair had patches of blood decorating it and tears streamed down my face. This was too much of a sacrifice. This was too much of it.

I heard crying and when I looked to my left, I saw a baby lying defenseless on the ground, swaddled in cloth. I picked her up and saw that she was holding Xavier's dagger. She must have been the one he was trying to protect, I saw another dead body not far and it was a woman. I looked at her and then at the baby, she must have been the mother.

"Your sacrifice will not be forgotten." There was no emotion in my soul and I left with the child.

I made my way to the throne room where the supposed party was held. Everything was a mess now. I scanned the room for any survivors and a bunch of silly idiotic council leaders were looking back at me.

“ losers!” Isis groaned in my head.

"Luna Imani, we cannot keep doing this! We are not stronger than them and we have already lost so much!" I heard a voice speak, it infuriated me.

"Watch your tone when you speak to me or I will have you hanged!” I bashed back to silence one of the council leaders, I sat in silence on my throne for a while, I could feel my shaking hands.

It didn't take a moment for us to hold a meeting, we were hit pretty badly and we lost a lot of men and resources. I lost Xavier.

"Pardon me, Luna, he did not mean to invoke you, but he is not wrong, we cannot keep doing this, we need assistance from a higher pack." Beta Thor spoke, he was my father's Beta and he was the one who trained Xavier to be what he was.

I was lost in thought for a moment, thinking about how he would have proposed to me in front of everyone. And how I planned on giving myself to him fully tonight. I bit my lips to restrain my tears and I looked at everyone,

"They will never agree to help a small pack like us. What makes you so confident?" I wanted to know where they got this hope from so I could go to the river and drink some myself. I had lost everything that night.

"We—" he was about to speak till a maid rushed in with the baby,

"She won't stop crying my Luna." She spoke hurriedly and Isis could sense the fear on her bones.

"Give her." I collected the sweet child from her hands and in an instant, she stopped crying. Everyone was silent, they knew her as Xavier's child since he died trying to protect her, my silver eyes were blank of emotions till I held the baby, we could have had a baby together but she would be enough for me till we met in the next life, "go on Beta." I gave him permission to proceed.

"Yes my Luna, we are not so sure but we should never conclude without trying." He made a valid point and the others nodded in agreement, my parents watched in silence, my mother more concerned about my health than anyone else. I hadn't rested and it was her that made me get cleaned, I was still with Xavier's body, I didn't want to leave him to journey into eternity alone.

"The silver moon pack is the strongest, we can reach out to them first. They will have to recognize us one way or the other." Beta Thor waited for me to respond and it took a full minute.

And I understood what my people were saying, but I knew that no powerful pack would agree to help us, at least not without exploiting us. But their pressure was great, and I didn't want anyone to lose their love just like I lost Xavier.

"Very well. Get me a paper and some ink, we will send them a letter this morning. For now, take your dead and bury them to the ground.”

I gave each person in the room a fierce glance as I spoke,

“ It will rain fire!”
