Chapter Three

She pulled herself out of bed, rubbed her slightly injured face, and let out a sharp gasp of pain from the wounds.

"Did she have to make the wounds this severe?" She complained and ran her fingers through her scraggly hair before pausing and breaking into a cruel smile.

FLASHBACK

The sun had finally set across the horizon, casting a natural golden glow across the sky- a beautiful sight that would leave one marveling over its enchanting colors.

As the glowing light gradually began to fade, shadows stretched across the grass, lengthening and growing deeper like a moving dark train.

The group of children playing in the grass remained oblivious to the sight as their laughter echoed across the quiet evening, their play continuing with unabashed energy as they chased, played games and had the fun of their lives.

Twilight turned to dusk, and still the children played on. The sky shifted from gold to a rosy pink, then to navy blue. The chill of the evening began to creep into the air, and tiny droplets of moisture appeared, misting the grass below them.

The children didn't notice until the mist grew thicker, covering the ground like a veil.

Suddenly, the mist grew denser, engulfing the field, and the children began to disappear from sight, one by one as they were enveloped by the sudden mist that took over the place. Panic set in as the kids frantically searched for one another, their calls and cries barely audible through the dense fog.

The mist thickened even more, swallowing the children from view completely.

Eventually, silence fell as the children disappeared into the ever-expanding darkness. The only sounds that remained were the rustling of the grass and the eerie whistle of the wind through the trees.

As the mist finally dispersed, the group of children were nowhere in sight. The grass stood empty, and the only evidence of the children's presence was small toys scattered on the ground.

An hour went by.

The mist began to gather at the center of the field, the wind blowing the grasses strongly and slowly, golden sparkles began to shine through the mist, building and building until a bright golden glow eventually burst out with a powerful force and spread out wildly in the field.

The wind current instantly became steady, the temperature dropped, and the golden glow vanished, revealing Ramona standing with ease, her bright pink lips pulled up into a sinister smile, her golden eyes twinkling brightly with pride.

"I don't want to call them unfortunate. After all, I didn't hurt them." She let out a sigh, and a silver mirror instantaneously materialized in front of her, gleaming in the moonlight of the half moon. The joy she felt when she looked in the mirror at herself was immeasurable, but in between that joy, her heart was heavy and pounding with nothing but vengeance, which she would relish until she was satisfied.

She noticed her reflection starting to bend and twist as soon as she fixed her gaze on the mirror. Her golden eyes widened as her reflection abruptly vanished, replaced by one she had never expected to see.

She observed his reflection on the mirror, the being she despised wholeheartedly. From his darkly blazing crimson wolf like eyes that spilled out nothing but bloodlust to his jaw-dropping, hypnotizing beauty, Ramona's eyes sharpened with rage, her hands clenched into a strong fist and she raised it aiming to punch the mirror.

"Don't!" A raspy female voice filled with panic rang out, and a hand landed on her shoulder, jolting her awake from her rage, and his reflection vanished, only to be replaced by hers.

"You frightened me." Ramona muttered under her breath and turned to see an old wrinkly woman dressed in a black cloak similar to hers.

"Did you involve the children?" The elderly lady expressed her displeasure, but Ramona only shrugged her shoulders.

"And I have Tamera, don't I?" Ramona inquired indifferently, referring to the floating mirror, and the old woman's frown deepened.

"You should not involve the children."

"I apologize, Nessa." She giggled, and her smile was so bright that it only made the woman sigh and shake her head in disbelief.

"Utterly rebellious." She muttered, and when she turned to look in the mirror, her pale, dried-out lips smiled shakily. "You have become exceptionally good with your dark magic." She complimented and extended her hand in the direction of the mirror, which was then engulfed in a grey mist and disappeared from view.

"Thank you." Ramona grinned proudly as it was rare for Nessa to compliment her. Nessa was an old powerful mage who had took her in ever since her family's demise. Their relationship was similar to a strict teacher and a stubborn yet fast learning student.

Ramona closed her eyes and inhaled the crisp air of the field. "It's been a long time, Dalarie. I'm sorry I didn't just drop by for a quick visit." She murmured, and that man reappeared in the darkness of her closed eyes. His blazing crimson eyes were something she couldn't unsee in the darkness, and once more, anger was growing and she was feeling the urge to rip him to pieces at every heartbeat.

She was a Seer and half dragon, destined to protect her kind the dragons, but she had bigger things to do, especially since she wasn't needed in her home, and that was to destroy Dalerie's alpha king, a pure blooded lycan. Just thinking about him made her blood boil because he had taken everything from her! Everything that made her happy!

"R.. Ramona!" Nessa's panic filled voice echoed in her head, causing his face to vanish into the darkness, and her eyes fluttered open to see Nessa standing in front of her with wide eyes, as if she had seen a ghost, and she was also holding Tamera tremblingly.

Ramona gave her a worried look. "What's the problem?"

"We... we were right?" Ramona peered at Nessa, who stuttered as she tried to recover from her shock.

"Talk to me!" She had to raise her voice as she grew tired of the suspense Nessa was creating.

The old mage took a deep breath to calm herself, and Ramona nodded at every motion until she finally said, "Caspian Alessandro is the one who killed every one of your family members. I just saw everything in Tamera."

END OF FLASHBACK

"He just had to call me Mona." She rolled her eyes and giggled before settling back on the bed.

"What an unexpected coincidence." she scowled and tightened her fist.

Her aim was revenge. His demise and eventual murder with her own hands were her ultimate goals in entering his life. However, it turns out that she was his mate!

She laid back on the bed, groaning in frustration. "Why?!"

She was his mate and she felt it. The mate bond. She was highly attracted to him but she wasn't going to let it distract her, she was going to break that bond and break him.
