Kael turned toward her slowly, and a smile spread across his face, easy and unbothered.

"Hello," he said. "Why do you look so surprised? Last I remember, you were calling my name and enjoying every bit of my touch. So why does this shock you now?"

Elara grabbed the sheet and pulled it around her body, scrambling back until her shoulders hit the wall.

"I don't understand any of this," she said, her voice shaking. "I was with Lucas. How did you get in here? What is happening right now?"
