NARRATIVE POV
He made it too easy for her.
His steps were loud, clunky, and rushed. It almost annoyed her how sloppily he moved blindly through the woods.
It was a great accomplishment to stalk, hunt and kill an Alpha male in his prime. She was half his size, without an actual wolf, yet there she was, watching him lazily lean on every other tree. She watched him circle trees like he thought this would lose his scent, and no one could track him. She was embarrassed for him, and now knowing that there were always eyes watching over her, she knew she wasn’t the only one watching this in sheer, annoyed disbelief.
This was an Alpha male, in peak physical condition, in his early twenties. He looked like a baby deer learning to stumble around, waiting for the hunter who took Bambi’s mother. At this point, it would almost seem like a pity kill if she were to pounce. Alph
NARRATIVE POV“Gentlemen, I am not sure what the issue is when it clearly states in your lawbook that Alpha challenges are acceptable currency for territory. The territories' Alpha heirs must issue a challenge for it to be considered legal. Rogues are not permitted to do so in established territory. They can attack packs, but not challenge for ownership. As the heir to the Blackfoot Rogues and under section 3.12 of Rogue takeovers, if a challenge is openly presented and the established pack's Alpha loses his issued challenge, that pack legally becomes the sole property of the Alpha or heir of the rogue pack challenged. It is clear as day in your books. Is it cozy on your seats of hypocrisy, gentlemen? Do you ever get bored looking down upon all of us little people?"“Yes, however, the council must be informed prior.”“No. That is not de
NARRATIVE POVIt has been twenty-six hours since the Alpha challenge between Alpha Ryan Davis and Carissa Carter concluded, with Carissa being named the victor. The council’s relief army had arrived only a few hours ago and was wreaking havoc. They tried to banish the rogue pack from the territory, but were met with another challenge. One of which, Alpha Thorin, himself, was willing to fight. His daughter won this match fairly, with ample witnesses to verify it.This, of course, led the council down a different strategic path. They attempted to declare that she had not won the match since Carissa was in the hospital. No one advised the council that she lay there with no heartbeat. They needed to buy her time for the Goddess to renew her or reclaim her. If she were reclaimed, there were witness statements that Carissa declared the pack territory would be given to Alpha Beast. The bureaucrats of the Counci
CARISSA POV“He is alive and well. His heart is breaking, however.”She waved her hand over the calm stream, and I saw my Beast. He was on the ground next to the cot on which my lifeless body lay. My cold hand was sandwiched between both of his much larger ones. His head was bent down, nestled in the crook of my neck. His face was stained with tears. It was heartbreaking to witness—such a powerful male succumbing to this level of pain.“Your heart stopped the moment you completed your mission. Now, we must decide what to do,” The Goddess stated.“What do you mean?” I couldn’t take my eyes from him. He needed a hug. I needed to hug him.“You had wished to enter my meadow after your vengeance was redeemed. Is that still your strongest desire, Carissa?” She asked confi
CARISSA POVHer smile stretched across her face at my question.“My sister is a curious character. Not one that many people will ever meet. Only the Elders and Council truly understand the history of Dark Sister.” The Goddess cleared her throat before she continued.“Like everything in life, there must be balance. Light requires darkness, good requires evil, kindness requires wrath, and love requires betrayal. It is unfortunate, but balance must always be maintained.”“Why? Why can’t the world live in peace?”“Because it would never be appreciated otherwise. The universe can not be entirely one, unless they have the other side of the coin to appreciate its value. Yin and Yang are the necessities of all things to understand harmony. You would not desire all things good and lovely if you never saw the darkness around the corners.”It m
CARISSA POV“When Alek’s mother grew ill and died, the family began to crumble. Gypsy’s are powered greatest by the strength of the matriarch, and now that LuLu had passed, the females were no more. One by one, each of the six brothers died in horribly tragic deaths. Cursed deaths. Losing his mate, Alek’s father, Gerald, could not go on. But Alek wanted his family's souls to rest, so he called upon the demon that cursed them and struck a new deal. This deal abolished the curse over the deceased souls, allowing his father to live peacefully in his final days. The demon agreed but gave Alek an impossible task. Any wolf would not have been able to complete such a horrible task unscathed, and the demon knew this, which was why it was given as payment.”“I don’t understand. What was the curse, and what was the impossible task?” I adjusted to be more comfortable as I leaned forward to listen uninterrupted.“Th
CARISSA POVThere was a soft humming, calling out for me to open my eyes. Despite its gentleness, it was impossible to ignore. The melody stimulated my senses, sparking me to life. I felt it, like a curfew flowing through me.The light was blinding, and I had to raise my hand to shield my eyes. It was an unnaturally bright light before me, but it also had a calming tranquillity. You wanted to follow further into its brilliance. So that is what I did.The soft, angelic humming continued to fill my senses, and I found myself smiling and humming along with it. I wanted to see the source of this euphoric pull.“Hello, my dear Carissa.” A calming voice sang out.“Who’s there?” I called out in confusion. It was met with the softest chuckle.“Silly girl, you spend a few weeks with my sister, and now I am long forgotten. Just typ
