Chapter 5

Alicia POV

I was so embarrassed by what had just happened. I could not believe I actually did that. I kissed him back. The realization alone made my face burn with shame. I stared at my own reflection in the mirror and talked to myself, trying to knock some sense back into my head.

Get yourself together, Alicia. You do not know him, and technically, he kidnapped you and brought you to a place you did not even know existed.

I closed my eyes tightly, took a deep breath, and then opened the door. When I stepped outside, I did not see him anywhere. Where did he go? Pssh, never mind. I shook my head, trying to brush him out of my thoughts.

I went over to my things and opened my bag. I grabbed a pair of clothes and returned to the bathroom. I washed myself carefully and then put on my clothes. In my situation right now, I could not avoid overthinking everything. What did he really want from me? Why was I here? What did he mean when he said the word mate? My head started to ache just thinking about it. Geez, my head hurts.

I closed my eyes to relax, but then a sudden thought hit me. Wait. Where is my phone? I hurried back to the bed and grabbed my things. I searched frantically until I finally found my phone. I sighed deeply in relief when I saw it.

I powered it on, but my relief quickly faded when I saw there was no signal, not even a single bar. I looked at the screen in disbelief, feeling upset and confused at the same time.

Heck. What should I do now? How am I supposed to know where I am? And how can I call Minerva? Then another thought crossed my mind. Anyway, why should I even call her? I placed my phone beside me and closed my eyes. I just wanted to sleep and forget everything, even for a short while.

When I woke up in the morning, I felt an odd sensation, like someone was staring at me. I slowly opened my eyes and was immediately met with a pair of intense blue eyes watching me closely.

“Good morning, sleepy head,” he greeted me with a smile.

Shit. That almost freaked me out. I sat up too fast, and our foreheads collided painfully. Ouch. I quickly touched my forehead and winced.

“Easy,” he said calmly.

I glared at him. Easy? Seriously?

“Do not stare at me when I am asleep. It is creepy,” I snapped. I climbed out of the bed, suddenly realizing how hungry I was. Geez, I did not even eat dinner last night, and all of that was because of him.

As if on cue, my stomach let out an embarrassing sound. Great. I really am hungry. I heard him chuckle, which only made me glare at him again.

“Breakfast is ready. Come on,” he said softly. He extended his palm toward me, but I only stared at it.

“Hold my hand,” he whispered.

I raised an eyebrow at him. Do I really need to do that? Hold his hand? Seriously?

“Lead the way,” I said coldly as I stood up.

I heard him sigh, but he stood up anyway and started walking. I followed him in silence. We soon reached a huge and beautiful dining hall. I noticed there were only four maids inside.

“Leave the two of us,” he ordered coldly.

They immediately obeyed, lowering their heads as they left. They looked terrified of him, and that sent a strange chill down my spine. When he looked back at me, the cold and intimidating aura disappeared. His gaze softened as he looked at me.

“Come,” he said, giving me a small smile.

I remained standing where I was, watching him carefully. My eyes drifted down to the food on the table, and I almost drooled at the sight. Shit, I am really hungry. I quickly sat on a chair far from him.

“Sit beside me,” he ordered.

I looked at him and saw that he was serious.

“I am comfortable here,” I replied and started getting food onto my plate. God, thank you for the food, and I hope there is no poison or anything strange in it.

“Do I need to repeat what I said?” he asked, his tone sounding like a warning.

I looked at him blankly. “Then do not repeat yourself,” I replied boredly and began eating.

The food was so delicious that I forgot everything else for a moment. What is this food? I enjoyed it so much that the next thing I knew, someone suddenly pulled me up. Before I could react, I found myself sitting on his lap.

Darn it. I tried to get away, but he pulled me back firmly.

“I gave you a choice,” he whispered into my ear. “Either you sit beside me or you sit on my lap.”

When did he give me a choice? Is he kidding me right now?

“Let m…” I did not even get to finish my sentence because he placed food into my mouth. Hmmp. I heard him laugh silently, which annoyed me even more. I grabbed some food and shoved it into his mouth as well. Serve him right.

I smirked when I saw him cough. I quickly ate the food he had given me before laughing. That was actually hilarious. I tried to get off his lap again, but once more, he pulled me back.

What is his problem? Do we really need to eat like this?

“Stay,” he said firmly.

“What?” I frowned at him.

“I am hungry, and I want to eat properly,” I told him.

“Then eat,” he replied casually.

I gave him a what-the-hell look.

“Let me sit properly and eat,” I said.

I saw him smile, looking clearly amused.

“Okay, then sit beside me,” he said, finally letting me go.

Finally. I returned to my earlier seat.

“Where are you going?” he suddenly asked.

“I am just going to get my food,” I answered. After getting my plate, I sat on the chair beside him. I noticed him staring at me, so I gave him a sharp look that clearly asked what he was staring at. I mentally rolled my eyes and continued eating, ignoring his intense gaze.

“Alpha!”

I looked toward the source of the voice and saw two men standing at the doorway. I recognized them immediately. One of them was the man who blocked my way yesterday. I shot him a death glare. He was the reason I was here in the first place.

“Sorry for the interruption, Alpha, but we need you in the Main Quarter,” said the same man.

“What happened?” Kaizer asked seriously.

“Rogues attacked us an hour ago. Young deltas were involved and have been harmed. The rogues who attacked us are dead,” the man reported.

Rogues. That word sounded familiar. Wait. That was the term they used for me yesterday.

“Okay. You two may go now. I will be there in a minute,” Kaizer replied.

The two men nodded and left. I looked at him with confusion.

“Why did they call you Alpha?” I asked.

“Because I am their leader,” he said calmly. “And you are their Luna.”

What? Another strange word. Luna? Before I could question him further, he stood up.

“I need to go now,” he said.

“Where are you going?” I asked, but he did not answer right away. He only looked at me. Suddenly, the words from earlier flashed in my mind. Harmed deltas. Dead rogues. Harmed. Died. Holy shit.

“I will be back soon,” he said and gently kissed my forehead.

“I will come with you,” I said without thinking. The doctor side of me was taking over again.

“No,” he replied plainly.

Oh, yeah. Right.

I grinned. “Okay, go ahead,” I said with a smile. I figured that if he was not around, there was a huge possibility I could explore this place and maybe even find my car.

“Do not even think about leaving,” he warned, as if he could read my mind.

“How can I leave? I do not even know where my damn car is,” I snapped.

He stepped closer and grabbed my wrist. “You are coming with me,” he said, carefully pulling me along.

Tsk. Why does he not want me to leave this place?

We left the mansion using a black car, which I assumed was his. I wondered where the hell he put my car, but that was not what I should be thinking about right now.

The real question was, where are we going?
