Chapter Fourteen

Raine POV

I reach the front. Kai is standing there, smiling at me like this is normal, like this isn’t completely fucked up. I’ve had no warning, no chance to fight this.

I know though that I’m not safe. I know if the packs find out I’m a witch, I’ll be shunned, maybe even tortured for it. My father has kept it hidden for years. The least I can do is protect myself as well.

The officiant speaks, but my mind is on Brax, on the fact that he has no idea I’m marrying Kai right now. It keeps drifting to tonight, when Kai claims me. Will Brax feel it? Will he know?

I don’t even pay attention to anything. I say what I’m told to, but my mind won’t leave Brax. I thought I’d have time.

Kai’s arm wraps around me and he pulls me into him. Before I can react, he kisses me. My body barely reacts. It doesn’t push him away or kiss him back. It’s numb.

He pulls back and smiles at me. “I’ll protect you,” he whispers. “You just have to trust me, Venom.”

Venom. I used to like that name. It reminded me that I can fight, that I can protect myself. Now it doesn’t feel like I can.

He guides me back down the aisle. My brothers hug me, promising to see me soon. My father does the same. My mother... she just stands there smirking like she’s won something, like she’s finally got what she wanted.

I don’t speak when we get in the car, or on the hour journey to Kai’s pack. I don’t know anything about his pack, not even who the main men are. All I know is his father is ill.

“I’ll claim you tonight,” he says.

My body tenses. “Can we not wait?”

He turns and stares at me. “No. The claim must be done straight away. My pack won’t accept you in any sense if I don’t claim you.”

But claiming me means sex. Everyone thinks I’m a virgin. Will he notice? Can he sense it? Chewing my lip, I turn and look back out of the window as we drive into the gated community, his pack.

People are already in their homes, no doubt in bed. It’s after midnight now. When the car stops, we get out. It looks like my pack, a gated community with trees surrounding the sides and back.

“Tomorrow I will show you the pack grounds. It’s not required tonight.” He guides me into the larger house, which I know is the pack house.

My eyes look around, trying to take things in, but it’s impossible. When we get upstairs, he leads me into a room. This isn’t the main room that the Alpha uses?

Then again, his dad is still Alpha, right? I think. He hasn’t said he’s taken over and has the Alpha title yet.

“Remove the dress, Raine.”

“What?” I spin and stare at him as he begins to remove his clothes.

“I get it, you’ve never been with a man, but to seal the bond, we have to have sex. You’ll be fine.”

Will he know though? Will he realise I’m not a virgin and ask questions? My hands shake as I remove the dress. “Can you not just claim me?” I ask quietly.

“I could claim you and leave it at that, but to seal the bond more strongly, we need to have sex. Stop worrying.”

Nodding, I remove my lingerie and climb onto the bed. Maybe after this once, he won’t want to have sex often? I don’t like this. It should only be Brax touching me.

He moves onto the bed, and I try to stay present, but it’s hard. My mind goes to Brax. Kai’s body covers mine, and my eyes trail along it.

He’s nothing like Brax. Kai’s smaller, not as well built. His cock is smaller as well, so at least I know that not all cocks are as big as Brax’s.

His teeth pierce my skin and I cry out at the burning sensation of the bond. Tears flood my eyes, and I try to move away from him, but he holds me in place, forcing the bond to work.

It’s going to be harder. We’re not mates. He doesn’t care though. A low growl erupts from within him that sounds like anger. He snaps back, his eyes fixed on mine. My body shakes, and I wait.

I know we have to have sex. I know he’s going to do what Brax did, go slow, be gentle because I’m meant to be a virgin. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. I just want it over with.

His eyes stay locked on mine, but they’re unreadable. He doesn’t look like the fun-loving Kai I normally see around my brothers. Before I can ask what’s wrong, he thrusts into me hard. I cry out, mostly from the shock, but some of it’s pain.

His hand grips my throat and he begins thrusting harder, like he’s trying to hurt me. I don’t understand. I’m meant to be a virgin to him, and this is how he chooses to fuck me?

Tears roll down my face, but he doesn’t seem to notice or care. My body tries to pull away from him, but he doesn’t let me. He finishes quickly, then rolls off me.

The room falls into silence. I don’t understand it at all. None of it. Kai is normally kind, gentle, and loving. That was nothing like him.

My eyes slip closed and I fall asleep, unable to stay awake any longer.

When I wake, the bed is empty. I look around, unable to see Kai. Getting my clothes, I put them on and walk out. It’s early, about six I think. As I walk down the hall, I make my way to the bigger room.

I want to speak with his father. Pushing the door open, I freeze at the sight, a gasp escaping my lips. Kai turns to face me. The woman wrapped around him, naked, smirks at me.

“Go back to your room, Raine.”

What? “Kai?”

“I said go back to your fucking room!” His voice echoes. The alpha command hits and I turn, walking away. My body shakes as I get into the room. The door closes behind me.

He’s fucking another woman? That room is the alpha’s room, so he’s the alpha. Then why am I not in his room like his Luna is supposed to be?
