Chapter Fifteen

Raine POV

Ten minutes later the door opens and the woman walks in.

“Raine, right?”

I nod. “Who are you?”

“I’m Serena, Kai’s mate.”

Mate? “No.”

“Yes, he’s my mate. Here’s something to remember.” She grabs my hair and drags me up. “You’re nothing. You’re not here to be his Luna. I’m the Luna. You’re here to be a slave. You’re here so we can use your magic to protect our pack.”

My head shakes. “My father won’t agree to this.”

She laughs. “Alpha Julius won’t have a clue.” She shoves me back and Kai walks in.

“Kai.” I stand up and rush to him but he shoves me back. I fall hard and stare at him.

“Get this on. You’re cooking for the pack.”

“No.” Standing up, I stare at him. “I want to speak with my brothers right fucking now!”

Laughing, he steps closer. “You think they don’t know? Your brothers agreed. They didn’t want a dirty witch in their family.”

“I want to speak with my family. You can’t refuse!”

His hand swings and hits me, my body falls to the floor. I stare up at him.

“You don’t get to talk to me like that. Now get dressed, get downstairs and cook!”

My head shakes and he stands, pulling me up. His face gets closer, inches from mine. “Get dressed, get sorted and cook.” The alpha command hits me and I nod, hating that my body is obeying him.

I watch as he leaves with Serena. Moving, I get changed into the rags and walk out. I walk down the hall, pushing open a door. The room is dark, the walls bare.

Stepping further in, I stare at the man in the bed. “Alpha Ethan?” I whisper. Stepping closer, his eyes open and meet mine. He looks at me like he’s confused.

“I’m Raine, Alpha Julius’ daughter. I need help, please. Call my father, tell him I need help, that Kai doesn’t want to make an alliance.”

His mouth opens, and I wait. “Run.”

“What? I can’t run, the bond won’t let me. Please just call.”

His hand shakes and I watch it lift. It’s turning black... but that happens when... “You’re being poisoned.”

My eyes snap to the IV, then back to him. I reach over to pull it free, but his hand stops me weakly. “I’m already dead. This is just speeding it up.” He breathes out. “My son is not a nice man. Run, Raine.”

I can’t run.

“Why not ask for help? You call my father,” I whisper.

His head shakes. “That’s not me. I’ve not spoken to anyone in three years. Kai’s been alpha since then.”

Tears roll down my cheeks. I’m stuck. I’m actually stuck.

“What the hell are you doing?”

I jump and spin to see Kai by the door. He storms over and grabs my hair, dragging me out. I cry out and he pushes me until I fall.

“Stay the hell out of that room. You have your order, now go cook!”

Nodding, I stand and walk downstairs into the kitchen. I stand and cook, but I hate it. People are staring at me, watching me. They keep whispering, and I can hear my name along with the word witch.

“You disgust me.”

I jump and spin around to see Serena. Her eyes look across me in disgust. Her foot swings out, kicking my knee.

I cry out and fall down.

“Oh stop crying, you heal quick, Kai told me.” Before I can say anything her foot swings again and hits my face. Pain explodes instantly and blood runs down my face.

“Raine, come with me. Rose, finish cooking.”

I look up to see Kai by the door.

“Of course, Alpha Kai,” a woman says with a quick nod.

I stand up and glare from Serena to Kai.

“Make me drag you and I will,” he snarls.

Nodding, I follow him into another room. He closes the door behind us but I don’t turn.

“Who did you fuck?”

I tense.

“Don’t deny it. You weren’t a virgin. Who did you fuck?”

My mouth opens then closes. “No one.”

I scream as he grabs my hair and slams me into the wall. “I was promised you were fucking pure. Who did you fuck?”

“I promise, I hadn’t.”

He shoves me back. “Last chance, or I kill that bastard child in your stomach.”

My body tenses. “What?”

“I could sense it when I claimed you.”

I’m pregnant? I can’t admit it was Brax.

“Raine.”

“I don’t know. I was out and drunk. It was a human.” I can’t let him find out the truth.

“You’re disgusting.” He steps closer. “Allivia, here.”

The door opens and I watch a woman walk in. She keeps her head down and I instantly sense magic.

“Do a spell. If she tries to run or speak the truth, her baby dies.”

“No!” I try to move, but he grabs me.

“I can’t have you bumping into your brothers and telling them, so here it is. The moment you tell anyone about me, the truth of the marriage, any of it, your baby dies.”

“Please Kai, don’t do this,” I whisper.

“Allivia, now.”

I look at the witch. “Please,” I beg.

She steps forward, her hands placing on me. “I’m sorry, but for my family to live and them not to tell others the location, I have to.”

I cry out as pain spreads through my body. My hands drop to my stomach and hold it, as if I can protect the baby, even though I know it’s not possible.

She steps back, and my body falls to the floor and I sob.

“It’s done. Now can I leave?” She looks at Kai.

He smiles and nods. “Yes, thank you for your help.”

She relaxes and I watch him move quickly. A knife appears in his hand, and I watch it glide across her neck. A yelp leaves my mouth and I watch as her body crumbles to the floor.

“She’s no use to me now.”

His words are cold. I stare at him, unable to process what just happened.
