LOGINKai POV
Raine stares up at me like she’s seeing a stranger. Good.
“You’re my brothers’ friend,” she whispers.
“I still am, Raine.” I’ve not fallen out with her brothers. Not exactly anyway.
“And your father?” she asks.
Laughing, I gesture around. “He deserves to suffer. He refused to give me the pack, promised to give it to anyone but me!” I glare down at her. “My own father, refusing to give me the alpha title even if he died?”
“Maybe he saw the true monster you are,” she snaps.
My body tenses and I move, dragging her up. She screams and kicks out, but I pin her against the wall. I fucking despise her and everything about her.
“A monster who right now is keeping you and that bastard alive. Keep going, Raine, and I’ll rip it out of your stomach with my teeth.” My words hit right where I want them to.
Her body goes still and tears roll down her cheeks. “I don’t understand.”
“You don’t need to. All you need to do is watch your entire fucking world fall down.”
“Kai.”
“Don’t. It’s Alpha. That’s what you fucking call me going forward. The rules for you are simple. You cook, you clean, you look after the pack members. I may let you work if I can trust you. That’s all. This marriage is nothing. It never was going to be.”
“Why marry me?”
“Because now I’m married to you, the pack is mine!” I step closer. “Because your father is going to make an alliance with me, and I’m going to use that and your magic to destroy every other fucking alpha.”
She stares at me. “But why?”
“Because they are all the same! Even your father, even your brothers. They all think they are the best, that they know what to do. It’s wrong. It’s fucking disgusting and someone needs to make them pay.”
“And me?”
“I heard your parents talking. I agree with the Luna. You should have been burned alive when you were born. You’re not a wolf. You’re not worthy of living in our packs like one of us.” She honestly thought I wanted to marry her? “Your magic comes from a full blood witch, a strong bloodline. It means I can use it.”
“For what?” she stammers.
“To make sure the weapons we create destroy everyone, that no one can fight back. Now, I suggest you go and start cleaning. I have meetings.”
Turning, I walk off.
“You can’t do this!” she cries. “My brothers will know.”
Laughing, I turn and face her. “Oh, will they?” I step closer. “How? You can’t talk. Try it. Watch what happens. First it’s a numb feeling, then it turns to pain, then your bastard child dies.”
She sobs and stares. “What did I do to you to deserve this?”
“Me? Nothing.” I step closer. “But it’s the witches who caused our wolves to be weaker. It’s the witches who cursed us. So every witch should pay.” I laugh. “My father shouldn’t be dying. If the witches hadn’t cursed so many of the alphas and elders, we would be stronger. He could have fought off his own son. And you, you’re the exact thing that caused it.”
I turn just as the door opens.
“Alpha Kai, her brothers at the gate waiting for entry. They wish to speak with their sister.”
“Already?” I roar. “Get her something to wear,” I snap. Turning, I look at Raine and she’s smiling like she thinks she’s saved. Grabbing her chin, I pull her to me. “Play the perfect happy wife, because if you even try to hint at something wrong, I’ll watch your child die and laugh.”
“You’re a monster.”
I nod. “Good. Then you know monsters don’t just make threats. They carry them out, and the spell is already there. You can’t escape it.” I drag her out and up to a room.
Pushing her in, the maid hands her a long elegant gown. “Enjoy this, because you won’t be sleeping in this room again, or any for that matter. Witches don’t deserve luxury.”
Walking back down, I go out and see the gates opening and her brothers walk in. I’m not fucking happy. They shouldn’t just show up.
“Kai,” Cain says as he walks closer.
“Everything good? We weren’t expecting visitors.”
“We didn’t get to see Raine or talk to her really, so figured we’d call in. She was thrown into the wedding.”
Yeah, she was, because I made their father push it forward.
“Sure, come on in. She’s getting sorted. I’m sure she will be down soon.” I gesture forward and they follow. Serena stands by the door and Axel pauses.
“Serena?”
“She came home. Couldn’t exactly kick her out for her father’s wrongdoing.”
“And she’s clear you’re married to Raine?” Cain asks.
“Yeah. What me and Serena had was years ago. It’s over with. She’s happy for me.”
All three relax and we sit down. One of the Omegas gets us drinks and leaves.
“Is she settling in?” Cain looks at me.
“Yes, she’s met a lot of the pack. Everyone is very welcoming,” I say.
Axel nods and leans forward, his eyes looking around. “You’re aware no one can know, right?”
“Oh come on, Axel. Do you think I’ll let anyone find out she’s part witch? It would make my pack look weak. No one will ever know, and if anyone finds out, I’ll sort it.”
All three relax, like they needed to know. Everyone here knows who Raine is. Everyone knows what she is. They know to play the part. She’s the perfect Luna when her family is here.
We sit and talk like we always do. “Did you know she’s slept with someone?” I ask.
Cain tenses. “What?”
“Raine. She wasn’t a virgin.” I won’t mention the pregnancy. That I can use as leverage. But for now, I think they should know she wasn’t pure.
“No, Raine hasn’t been near a guy,” Axel says with a laugh.
“She has, and she told me it was a random human, not even a fucking wolf.”
All three tense, and the door opens. Good. They are going to shout at her. She’s going to snap back and it will stop them from coming any time soon.
Brax POVMy hips move slowly, rocking into her with deep, deliberate strokes. My hands never stop moving, stroking along every curve of her body as if I can wipe away every trace of him with my touch alone.“You’re mine,” I whisper against her lips, voice low and rough. “Every inch of you belongs to me, Nightbloom.”She whimpers, grinding up into me, chasing more. I give it to her, thrusting a little deeper while my mouth trails along her jaw.“No one else gets to have you like this,” I murmur, kissing down the side of her neck. My wolf snarls as I reach the claiming mark, but I don’t pull away. Instead, I kiss it slowly, possessively. “This mark doesn’t change anything. You’re still mine.”Her head falls back with a soft moan. I keep moving, sliding my cock almost a
Brax POVI’ve called by her shop a few times. It’s been closed for two days. I’ve kept an eye on the street where the hotel is and nothing. There’s been nothing, so I’m going back today. If she’s not at work, then I’m going to her pack. I need to know she’s okay. I need to see her.I’ve spent so much time stressing over her. My wolf is obsessing so much that my father is beginning to ask what I’m up to. I’ve lied and said I’m looking into other ways to break this curse. It’s bullshit. I should be, because once I find a cure, a way to break it, then Raine is safe to come to my pack. As I drive past her store I see the lights on.She’s there. I park behind on a back street and walk through. Glancing through the fr
Raine POVIt has been two days since I married Kai, and he hasn’t let me leave the pack house once.I cook. I clean. Then I’m dragged back to the cell and locked inside. He promised I could still work at my shop, but now I’m starting to believe it was just another lie to keep me compliant.I haven’t dared ask him about it. If I push, he’ll only make me wait longer. So I behave. I stay quiet. I avoid Serena as much as possible. The two times she caught me alone, she beat me badly enough that I could barely stand afterward. The rest of the pack is just as cruel. Their stares, their whispers, the way they spit the word “witch” like it’s poison… I don’t understand any of it.My father would never treat a witch this way. Our pack doesn’t do this. So why does this pack despise them so much? I thought the only ones I had to fear were the vampire hybrids. I was wrong. Apparently I have to fear wolves too.All I want is to draw. To let my hands move and my mind escape this nightmare, even for
Raine POVBlood pours down the dress and she hooks her claws into it and pulls, shredding it. “Get changed, witch! Or should I aim for your stomach?”I grab the rags and shrug off the torn dress. My hand raises to touch my face. If I could shift I would rip her apart, but it’s a risk for wolves to shift while pregnant.“You heal quick, no doubt the magic in you. Move.” I walk to the door and she grabs my arm and takes me down the hall to a door. Shoving it open she drags me down concrete steps. The place is damp and disgusting.Shoving me into a cell she locks the door. “Someone will unlock it before you need to cook or clean.” Turning she walks off and I look around. There’s nothing. No blanket, no sheet, nothing.Sitting down I press my back against the wall. My head falls forward, and my hand settles on
Raine POVI hate this. Acting like everything is fine, like nothing is wrong. The dirty rags are gone. Now I’m wearing a nice dress, a fake ass dress. When I walk down, Serena stops me. “Enjoy it, witch. It’s not going to last much longer.”She shoves me forward and I slam into the wall, stopping myself just barely before my head hits it. Spinning around, I glare at her. “You don’t scare me, and next time you lay a hand on me, you’ll pay.”Laughing, she nods. “Oh, just wait until your brothers go. Let’s see you standing up to me then. Go on, get in there.” She turns and walks off.Pushing open the door, I step in and try to smile.“You fucked a human?” Cain’s voice is loud and I jump.Ka
