Maya’s POV

This was it.

My frozen feet finally moved enough for me to walk.

The moment Sarah’s voice echoed through the cave again telling me to come, I didn't wait for the second time. My instincts screamed at me to move and I did.

“Run,” Melissa begged. “Please! Run, Maya, run now!! Now!”

I didn’t think twice—I bolted.

My hands and feet scrambled against the stone as I spun around and sprinted toward the mouth of the cave.

My heart pounded in my chest violently, my lungs burned very hot. My muscles were already sore… mixed with this, it was hell.

My muscles wanted to relapse but the fear inside of me drove me faster than I’d ever run in my life.

“You there! Stop! Hey! Stop!” Logan’s roar erupted behind me.

My heart stopped. I heard their thundering against the ground, closer than I wanted to believe. How the hell did they get close so fast?

I darted through the narrow passages, my fingers scraping the jagged walls for balance.

I didn't care. The sharp edge of the rocks cut into my

Alpha Williams’ POVJustin’s words hit like a slap.“Then maybe you should start acting like it.”The hell…My wolf snarled viciously in my head, clawing at the edges of my control. “Challenge him. Tear him apart.”I stepped forward, my presence filling the room like a storm. Maya instinctively shrank back against Justin, and that sight alone nearly undid me.“Get your hands off her,” I said, my voice low, dangerous enough to make the air thick.Justin didn’t move. His jaw flexed, but his hand stayed on her shoulder like a goddamn shield.“She came here for protection,” Justin replied evenly, but there was tension in every line of his body. “If you want to be angry, be angry at whoever scared her half to death—not at me.”My gaze cut to Maya. Her wide, tear-brimmed eyes met mine, and I could smell her fear—sharp, raw, and undeniable.I forced myself to soften, just slightly. “Maya…” I said her name like a command, stepping closer. “Come here.”She hesitated. That was all it took for

Sarah’s POVMaya had no idea she was already dead meat.I watched her from a distance the next morning, leaning casually against the hallway wall. She scurried past with her head down, clutching her bag. Pathetic. She thought her whispered warnings to Beta Justin last night had changed something. She had no clue how useless her little stunt was.Logan’s words replayed in my head: Quick. Clean. He was right. All I needed was the perfect moment. A quiet place. Somewhere no one would hear her scream.I smiled faintly to myself. I knew my sister too well. She was predictable. Same routes, same habits. After all, she’d spent most of her life hiding in corners, scrubbing floors, and fetching things for others. Easy prey.I waited until she left the packhouse for her usual chore run. Perfect timing. She always stopped by the storage she'd behind the gardens—isolated, shaded by trees, far from prying eyes.I followed silently, keeping my distance. Logan and Thomas would be waiting at the r

  • The Alpha King Is My Second Chance Mate    Chapter 29

Maya’s POVMy hands trembled as Sarah disappeared down the hall. My pulse roared in my ears, Melissa pacing frantically in my head."Do it now!, Maya! This is our only chance. Get to Justin before it’s too late."I spun around and darted toward Beta Justin’s office, my feet barely making a sound against the polished floor. My palms were slick with sweat, my breath ragged, but I didn’t stop until I reached his door.I knocked once, sharp and urgent.“Come in,” his deep voice called from inside.I slipped through the door, closing it quickly behind me. Justin looked up from his desk, brow furrowed.“Maya?” His confusion deepened. “What are you doing here? Is something wrong?”“Yes,” I blurted, my voice trembling. “Beta, please—listen to me. I don’t have time to explain everything, but your family is in danger. Tonight.”He rose slowly from his chair, his towering frame shadowing me. His sharp eyes searched mine. “Explain.”I swallowed hard, my heart thundering. “Lucas and Thomas—they’r

Maya’s POVI couldn’t focus on anything for the rest of the morning. Not on the dishes Sarah shoved at me, not on the mocking whispers from the other maids, not even on the ache in my feet from standing too long. All I could think about was Beta Justin—and how every second that passed without me warning him brought his family closer to death.Melissa paced restlessly inside my mind. "We can’t waste time."I knew that. It was engraved in the back of my mind, but what could I do?"I know," I muttered under my breath, scrubbing furiously at a plate. Each plate that I washed and every clang of the ir felt like it echoed through my brain. I glanced at the kitchen door for what had to be the hundredth time. Justin would have to pass through this hallway eventually. He always did around midday. If I could just—“There he is,” Melissa breathed sharply. My head jerked up so fast my neck popped.Beta Justin was walking down the corridor, his stride was calm and confident, as usuall, he had a

  • The Alpha King Is My Second Chance Mate    Chapter 26

Maya’s POVBy the time I finished scrubbing the last floor, my hands were raw and swollen.I scrubbed all fifty rooms in one night and now I could barely feel my hands. The blisters stung painful whenever I moved my palm.Blisters as big as the size of an onions grew on my palms, they were painful to look at, not to mention feel.My arms on the other hand felt like someone tore them off their sockets, my back was stiff, cracked in protest with each time I tried to move it.Every muscle in my body begged me to go back to bed at some point but I wouldn't dare.I pushed on.I was sensible enough to go back because if I didn't—Moon Goddess help me—I’d suffer worse than this.It was past midnight when I finally dumped the last bucket of dirty water outside. The corridors were quiet now, the kind of silence that pressed down on you, heavy and uneasy.I didn't care. It was music to my ears now. The peace and then finishing my chores, I didn't bother for a meal, all I wanted was to sleep.I
