Cillian “I’m sorry, baby. I’m so sorry.” Kayleigh gives me a calculating glare but does not move away when I coil my arms around her and drop a kiss on her forehead. After a chaotic afternoon of cleaning-up the mess in the cottage, reporting to my dad, and briefing the pack, I finally get Kayleigh alone to myself. I take her to the only safe place I know that will allow us peace and quiet while knowing we have security around us --- around her. Back in the manor. In my bedroom. “What are you exactly sorry about?” She steps back, glares at me before rolling her blue pools. She pretends to look away from me while she sweeps my bedroom with her eyes. Quietly observing. I’m not stupid. I know she’s looking for any trace of other girls, or of Kinsley, left in here. She’ll find none. “For everything.” My head rummage for a better response but fail. “That’s so vague, Cillian.” She lifts her chin and glances at me. Fuck. She’s so beautiful. Walking out on her last night
Kayleigh “Are you sure about your plans?” Husky voice breaks the stillness as he wraps his muscular arms around me from behind. “I am very sure. One hundred percent sure. Your place is nice and cozy but we gotta go back to Ireland soon.” I tilt my head to give him access to my neck. I moan when he runs his lips and juts his tongue to leave a trail of wet line from my neck to the tip of my shoulder. “There’s no turning back, malyshka.” His baritone voice makes my center quiver. “There’s no turning back, malyshka,” I echo him, in a low, husky voice. “That’s not how I sound like,” he says sounding a bit annoyed at me. I giggle and turn around. I melt into him as I listen to the words that come out of his lips. By now, I’m pretty sure that this couldn’t be real. It must be a dream. My arms are coiled around Andrei’s neck without worry of doing anything wrong or hurting anyone. Definitely a dream. But I don’t want to wake up just yet. I want to see how this dream plays out.
Kayleigh KILL: I’m sorry I can’t be with you today, baby. Take care out there. ME: No worries. You guys have been waiting for the wolf blood council for a while now. Your pack needs you. KILL: I know. I just hate that he’s the one with you today and not me. Tell me again why you’re coming back tomorrow and not tonight? ME: The jet will take us to Alaska today but will have to head to Colorado to load up some Mountain Ash by nightfall. It will be back to pick us up tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be at the manor by tomorrow evening, hopefully. KILL: Too long. How are you feeling? Still fever-ish? Headaches? ME: Bearable. Still kinda feeling warm but not too bad. The tea you gave me this morning helped a lot. I’m impressed with you healers here. KILL: Impressed with the healers here? That’s it? What about the alpha heir here? You were screaming his name the whole night. He brought you breakfast in bed with a side of orgasm this morning. ME: LOL. Eh. The alpha heir is alright. KI
Kayleigh “That wasn’t a rhetorical question, Bash. I’m waiting for your answer.” I prod Bash for a response. “Kayleigh. Just drop it. It’s none of our business.” Once again, Gio gives me a warning look while he turns to a narrow street. “I don’t think it’s wrong to want to know, right Bash?” I ignore Gio and continue to urge Bash for an answer. It just doesn’t make sense. Bash can appeal for a regency and even vie for the Alpha King position without taking over Cillian’s Pack. With his pack’s wealth and strength, Bash has a strong claim for the throne, anyway. “I’d answer that question but then ---“ Bash gives me a menacing smile through the rearview mirror. “Bash. Don’t finish that sentence. You’re my uncle. But any threats or disrespect to the Alpha King’s daughter, I will not condone.” Gio presses on the gas harder. He looks agitated. “See. I don’t get this, nephew. You, Cillian, Andrei… you guys just worship the ground that she walks on. You treat her like a brea
Kayleigh It’s been an hour since the attack. It didn’t take long for us to beat up all twelve red wolves. Bash forced one of them to shift back into his human form and then carved his name on the guy’s back. Like a marque. The bloody brand was a message to his pack that Bash and Gio, both Blutschilds from different continents, will be coming after the red wolves. Thanks the Moon Goddess I’m in the company of skilled fighters. I mean, I know I wasn’t bad at all. I carried my weight during the fight. But the red wolves who attacked us were strong and seasoned fighters as well. I’m in awe of Gio and Gisella’s combat expertise. They are a force to be reckoned. Misha and Nikolai truly let their beasts take over. Bash did not shift into his wolf form. Gisella mentioned that Bash’s wolf is deranged and hard to control. But it doesn’t matter, with what I saw, Bash didn’t need a wolf to show that he is an alpha to be scared of. I saw him tear apart a red wolf’s jaw with just his bare hands
Cillian The wolf blood council, also called, The Guardians, is here. It’s been a long time coming and we’ve been busting our balls preparing for it. Now that they finally made it, I can’t wait for them to leave. I flinch when I feel the fingers entwined with mine squeeze. It’s not the hand I want to hold, but it’s because of my sworn pack duty, I have no choice. “Can you chill a little? You’re acting so uptight and unnatural. They’re going to catch a whiff of this charade if you keep it up.” Pulling me closer to her, Kinsley whispers under her breath as we wait for the wolf blood council’s cars to arrive in our property. “Jesus Christ, Kensington. I’m doing my best. This is just getting old. I don’t understand why we have to do this all the time. I’m so sick of it.” In reality, I’m feeling guilty holding someone else’s hand other than Kayleigh. “We’ve been doing this for years, Cillian. You’ve never had issues about it. Kayleigh isn’t even here so I don’t know what your probl
Andrei “Andrei. Can you fucking chill? Sit your ass down and drink this.” Bash hands me a crystal glass filled with whiskey. “Let me just go see if she’s okay. They’ve been in there for an hour now. I’m worried the attack got her shaken.” I take a few steps towards the room that Kayleigh and Gisella occupy even though I just came back from there just a minute ago. “If you’re not drinking that, give it to me. Kayleigh is doing fine. She’d seen blood before. Don’t make it sound like she’s a rookie fighter. You saw how she fought back there. Stop hovering on her.” Gio chugs the whisky like it’s plain water then plops down on one of the comfortable seats across to Bash. “Plus, it’s making you look too clingy. Play it cool, man.” Bash adds, mockingly. His eyes flicker with his menacing smile. “Fuck. Fine, mom and dad!” I grab my still damp hair and brush it backwards. It’s infuriating how these two alphas meddle too much. Bash didn’t even need to be here. I’ve borrowed his jet p
Cillian “What the fuck was Miss Bethany talking about, Kensington?” I grit my teeth as I question Kinsley. As soon as we entered the manor, I mind-linked her to follow me to my room, where nobody can hear our conversation. “I don’t know. Why are you stressing about it? Can you just… not…” She crosses her arms in front of her chest and rolls her eyes. “I’m going to ask you this, just once. Actually, no. I’m going to keep asking you about this until you tell me the truth. Are you pregnant?” My jaw ticks waiting for her response. “So what if I am?” She tilts her head and glares at me. “Is that your way of admitting it? Does your dad know?” “That’s like asking if I wanted my dad to murder me right now.” She walks to the window trying to avoid my burning stare. “Why can’t I scent that you’re pregnant?” I would have known, I would have smelled her pregnancy hormones, unless the baby is too young. “It’s too soon to scent. The baby is less than 10 weeks. I was actually surprise
