Gray face-planted on the ground and then frantically stood up in confusion. She looked behind her only to see her hind paw caught in a hole between the rocks and tried to pull it, but it didn't budge. She panicked, especially when she saw the Alpha run over to where she was stuck, doing a sort of cocky victory lap and then stopping behind her.
Gray threw a fit, assuming the worst. As Judah approached her from behind, she started crying, whimpering, and making all kinds of noises to try and keep him at a distance.
Alpha Judah wasn't trying to mount her at the moment, but the way Gray was crying and whimpering made him feel like a monster so he decided to explain himself. He shifted into his human form and stood up. He moved to her side and reached out his hand to her.
"Look, I'm not going to hurt you," he said.
Gray was in doubt, so she started to thrash around, snapping her jaws at his outstretched hand.
Judah wasn't stupid and careful enough to get his hand near the desperate wolf where she could bite it.
"Stay still. I'll help you release your leg," Judah commanded Gray.
Gray didn't like how the hungry Alpha spoke, but her poor paw started hurting. She looked at his eyes, and all she saw was seriousness and concern despite the tone of his voice; it was because he was an Alpha, and he was used to a commanding tone.
She'll let him help her, and after that, she could pick up running again, no problem.
Once Gray let him get close enough, Judah went behind her again and looked at how her paw was lodged in between the rocks. To Judah, it looked pretty bad, painful and needed to be taken care of. He knew Haquihana she-wolf didn't have fast healing ability, unlike normal she-wolves. It tends to heal slowly, around five days or more, especially for a wound like this. No matter how fertile they are, their healing ability is slow.
Right now, she probably couldn't feel it, but her leg was completely cut open, and it was bleeding profusely. Judah pulled the rocks apart to release her, and Gray shot off like a bullet but didn't get far because a fierce pain shot up her leg. She howled so loudly that Judah was pretty sure she shook the trees. He ran over to her and crouched down beside her, careful to keep his dangling glory away from Gray's snapping jaws.
"Can you shift? I'm not going to hurt you or rape you. I'm trying to help. If I don't tend to your wound, it will be infected," he told her.
Gray decided to give in, a game over. Well, at least her wolf did. She was hurt and couldn't run any longer, so there was no point in just laying out in the cold night, letting her wound get infected. This was the end of the line, and as much as she hated to admit it, she did need the hungry Alpha's help.
And when she's healed enough, she'll proceed to her plan, then run away again.
Gray shifted to get done with it. She covered herself with both hands, trying to hide whatever she needed to hide. She noticed that Judah had no issue with showing all his birthday suits to the world, but despite being comfortable with her nudity, she'd rather not have him see her completely immodest. She's conservative despite being a werewolf. No one had seen her naked except this hungry Alpha.
Judah grinned and gently lifted her off of the ground, her hissing as her ankle dangled in the air, swaying around. Gray tensed as she felt his muscles ripple when he walked and her own wolf betraying her by being content with the situation and with the hungry Alpha.
Gray was angry at herself, not only that she had been preparing to escape for years and only fell down on an Alpha's hand. If only for the clumsy legs she has, she could have been hiding right now, and in two more days, the game is over.
And then she suddenly thought of Alice. She was thinking if she was okay or if the Alpha who got her hurt her.
Gray started squirming at that thought and was rewarded with the sound of Judah's chuckle reverberating through his chest.
"Do you have to fight me every step of the way, little one?" Judah asked Gray.
Gray hadn't been trying to fight the hungry Alpha. She was trying to escape from him, but now she was. How dare he call her that? She knows she's short compared to other she-wolves, but how dare he call her little one?
"I'm short, I know, but I'm not a little, you bastard! And I have to help Alice, so put me down!"
Judah shook his head in amusement.
"No," he said. "Besides, we're almost there, and you can't do much of anything on that leg."
"But Alice-!"
"Alice is fine," Judah interrupted, assuming she was talking about the little blonde girl she was with. "She's with her new mate, and he isn't going to hurt her. He's going to take good care of her and breed her, as he's meant to do."
Gray wanted to counter Judah and argue just for the sake of it, but she knew there was no point in it, not after hearing the finality of his voice. But the fact that he thought being forced by a man to breed wasn't any big deal disgusted her and made her even angrier. She did manage to hold her tongue despite all of that.
How dare he say we Haquinahanas are only for breeding purposes? Does he have to rub salt in our wounds? We know we exist solely for that purpose, a substitute for their deceased mate, but does he have to say Breed? And we breeders don't have any right to refuse. But not me. I'll do anything to escape this tyrant, no matter what.
They finally approached a small cabin in the woods, and Gray sighed in relief because, finally, she'll have the chance to get off from the Alpha's arms. They got inside and were surprised when she saw a huge bed in the middle, two couches on the side, a sink, and a fridge. It was actually a furnished cabin to be exact. There was a fireplace and a small kitchen on the lower part of the bed. What pissed Gray the most was the two towers that were formed into two birds kissing and a message saying enjoy their stay. Gray wanted to scream and kick those towels off the bed if only her leg wasn't hurting. They mock her about her impending doom, which pisses her off. Judah sat her down on the edge of the bed and then walked over to a door she hadn't noticed once they walked in. He reached in, pulled out an oversized sweater that looked like it would fit him, and swallowed her. He slipped on a pair of sweatpants he found and walked back to her. Neither said anything as he tried to help her i
They say Haquihanas are viewed as the substitute for a lost mate and that their only purpose was to breed. Since fate has abandoned them from the moment they are born, some wolves view them as someone who can do their plaything while waiting for their real mate. Gray refused to let anyone go near her after she was busted about being a Haquihana. She doesn't let anyone look down on her, especially her Alpha. She hated him to the core, and he was the reason why she was here with the dangerously sexy Alpha. Gray watched as Judah pulled a box out of the cabinet in the upper cabinet above the sink. When she looked at it closely, it was a medical kit. She also saw him pulling a bottle of something called gin, as she could see on the label. She glared at him when he gently grabbed her leg and pulled it on his lap. Judah wanted to ignore the glare, but he felt her glare burning holes through the top of his head while working on her wounded ankle. To ease the tension between them, he decide
"You want to bet?" Gray asked him, confident she would never fall to this hungry alpha. "Do you have anything to bet on?" Judah asked her jokingly. Gray thought for a moment. "I do, hungry Alpha," she said. Judah heaved a sigh. Talking to this drunk woman will be futile. As much as he wanted to have her now, he postponed it. "My name is Judah, and not a hungry Alpha," he said. "Whatever, Judah," she said. "You're still a hungry alpha for me; otherwise, you wouldn't be here with me in this cabin if you were not," she said. Judah smiled softly at her."Isn't that what this game is? I needed a mate, and you are available. I can't see why I should explain myself to you, Gray." "Correction against my will," Gray replied, feeling like everything was spinning. "Do Haquihanas don't have a choice to choose who they want to mate with?" Judah didn't say anything because he didn't know the answer. It's the council that should answer her question. He sighed and sat on the couch, grabbing
Judah stood up beside the open window and crossed his arms. He needed some fresh air, and getting near Gray was dangerous for now. "Marking will come with a terrible burning pain at first and then feverish symptoms, but hopefully, you'll live," he explained. He pulled one of those couches and sat down as he watched Gray writhe around on the bed. Gray was trying to understand why marking was freaking painful, and she asked the Goddess why she was being punished like this. "I know the situation isn't ideal for you, but it isn't about you or what you want anymore. You have to accept it, and things will be easier for us," Judah added. Gray wanted to scream curses at Judah or attack him and do something, but her body wouldn't allow her to do it. Her body was busy succumbing to the pain, and all she had to do was to scream, sobbing, and feeling embarrassed. Gray was weak and would try to take good care of her. She doesn't want that. Of all things, that is the last thing she would allow
Judah saw Gray crying but decided not to say anything. Whatever emotions she was dealing with wasn't his business, and she would not talk to him about it anyway. But he felt a little sympathy for her, though. Gray has been taken away from everything she had known and thrown into the forest to be chased by animalistic men who couldn't wait to claim her. Judah couldn't blame her actions so far but couldn't tolerate any more of it. He was doing it for a cause, to ensure the survival of his pack and to have the crown, which was his birthright. "Do you want to go outside? I mean to have some fresh air," Judah tried to talk to her. Gray looked at him, irritated. She didn't know when he would take a hint. She wasn't in a conversing mood, and she thought that she had made that clear. Gray looked down into her half-empty mug of tea and sighed. "Leave me alone, please," she whispered. Judah saw that she wasn't trying to be disrespectful and that she really needed her space. He decided to
Gray never thought that she would ever hope Judah would help her in this situation. But if he forcefully makes her his, he'd better show up wherever he is when she needs him. The louder she got, the more pressure the wolf put on her neck, almost a warning to keep the noise down. She was tired and realized she hadn't eaten in days. Her energy was depleted despite desperate attempts to break free. By now, Gray had learned her lesson that fighting her destiny was hard. She knew that running and fighting back wouldn't help her right now. She needed to stop acting tough, and she needed someone to help her, and that was Judah, against her will mate. Right after she was about to lie down and accept what would happen, a large black wolf came out of nowhere, grabbing the other wolf by the back of its neck and throwing him away. The wolf stood up, and instead of running away, he challenged Judah, facing him straight.Judah stood over Gray, who was lying between all four paws, and nuzzled her
Meanwhile, at the Castle of Fenrir, King Heiydess has anticipated the return of his son, Judah. He has been looking forward to his daughter-in-law carrying his grandchildren. "Papa," he heard a call from his favourite adopted daughter, Faye. "Why did you get up from your bed? Are you okay? Does the castle doctor agree about this?" she said, worried. "Oh, that? No, my sweet darling. I'm looking forward to Judah's return. I want to meet my future daughter-in-law as soon as possible," he replied cheerfully. Faye was saddened by what the King said. She, too, wanted to see Judah back, but unlike the King, she didn't want him to be with someone as low as Haquihana, the breeder. "Oh, don't be sad, Faye. This is for the kingdom's sake," the kind said when he noticed Faye's reaction. She immediately changed her expression into a happy one and smiled at the King. "I know, Papa," she said. "It's just that I'm used to Judah being single," she lied. "Well, when he returns, he will no longer
Gray couldn't help but feel sorry for what she did to Judah. She had already labeled him a hungry wolf who only wanted to hump her and breed. And now, she realized Judah actually had helped her in a way she was too blind to notice. All she had done was run away, fight, and loathed him with her entire life. Was she wrong to judge the man? And she knew he didn't deserve that. Gray looked down at her empty bowl. The tears started to swell up, feeling guilty that she had overreacted. "I'm sorry," she started. "Joining this game against my will was not what I really wanted. I want to fall in love with someone who can see me, not just a breeding wolf, and make me feel like I'm their true mate. And I want to feel loved not because of my ability to carry multiple pups at one pregnancy but because I am me, a Haquihana. I want to fall in love with my terms, not this way. And most of all, I want to be free," she added, looking at Judah. "If I were with you, I'm unsure if I would learn to love
