Chapter 74: The Escape

Gray panted heavily as she and Ana dragged a cart full of blankets up the stairs. Gray hated stairs. She could be on level ground for hours. Stairs? Hell no. She could hardly breathe.

Ana told her to be able to escape, they needed to go to the roof. She told her she had already; she once got out and found the place they were was actually an old abandoned lighthouse on a lone island. They can't just walk out from the main door because some guards are probably guarding it, and their only chance to get out of the building is by the roof, and they knew it would be pretty high.

When they finally reached the roof, Gray was almost out of breath. Ana unlocked the door, and they emerged from the staircase and into the fresh air, which she and Ana gulped in as if their lives depended on it.

"C'mon." She pulled Gray towards that railing on the roof and crouched, and took all the blankets out of the cart. "Hurry, Gray. Help me."

Gray got down and started to tie each end of the blankets.
