They finally approached a small cabin in the woods, and Gray sighed in relief because, finally, she'll have the chance to get off from the Alpha's arms. They got inside and were surprised when she saw a huge bed in the middle, two couches on the side, a sink, and a fridge. It was actually a furnished cabin to be exact. There was a fireplace and a small kitchen on the lower part of the bed. What pissed Gray the most was the two towers that were formed into two birds kissing and a message saying enjoy their stay.
Gray wanted to scream and kick those towels off the bed if only her leg wasn't hurting. They mock her about her impending doom, which pisses her off.Judah sat her down on the edge of the bed and then walked over to a door she hadn't noticed once they walked in. He reached in, pulled out an oversized sweater that looked like it would fit him, and swallowed her. He slipped on a pair of sweatpants he found and walked back to her.
Neither said anything as he tried to help her into the sweater.
"I would like to bathe before wearing that sweater," Gray told him.
Judah nodded his head and took her to a door which was a bathroom, and only got pissed once again when she saw a tub with candles and rose petals.
"Do you want me to open the shower?" Judah asked her.
"No," Gray replied. "You go out. I can handle myself alone," I added.
For a second, Judah didn't want to leave the wounded wolf, but he knew she would throw a fist if he tried to help her knowing how feisty she was.
"Alright. I'll be outside if you want some help," Judah replied before closing the door.
Gray stood up, hissing before opening the shower and letting her naked body rinse with the running shower water. Although her wound wasn't bleeding anymore, Gray hissed with pain. It has been days since the last time she had her proper bath. And she can even smell herself, like the smell of mud, which she used to hide her scent from the Alpha.
She glanced at the shampoo and shower gel and saw it was her favourite scent. She immediately shampooed her hair and massaged her scalp in a motion that relaxed her. Slowly, she cleaned every side of her body and made sure to smell nice after. Nope, she's not doing it for the Alpha; she's doing it for herself because she stinks.
After ensuring she spent an hour in the bathroom, she finally got out and saw Judah on the couch, obviously waiting for her. Seeing her limping, he immediately stood up and walked towards her.
He helped her wear the sweater, and after that, neither said anything. Gray just looked past him at the wall, feeling a sense of defeat. Of course, she was caught. This Alpha is now her mate, and she could do nothing about it except be so difficult that he would have left her alone because he couldn't tame her.
But Gray was too tired and in pain to do anything right now. After taking a bath, she realised her body was sore from running for miles in no specific direction. She dared herself to look at the man she was somewhat destined to be with forever; if she was honest with herself, he was extremely handsome. He has long, straight hair, and his eyes, well, his eyes were like sleepy and hooded grey eyes. He had a sharp, pointed nose and kissable lips, and his body was like Zeus in Olympus.
Where was his mate? How did she die? Did she kill herself because she couldn't handle this hungry wolf?
Although she was like a statue staring secretly at him, she reminded herself that looks are not everything.
"I never got your name," Judah's somewhat deep and perfect voice startled her out of her staring contest with his specs, and she jumped a little.
She crossed her arms and arced her left brow.
"You don't need to know my name," Gray replied.
Judah scoffed. He should have known that taking the kind and gentle approach would never work with anyone as stubborn as her. This she-wolf's pride is as long as the Great Wall of China. And he had to cut it short to match her.
Judah cleared his throat, turning on the voice full of authority.
"Well, then, what is your name, Haquihana?"
Gray scowled at him, which made Judah triumphant. She did have a name…a name she hadn't given him yet. She sighed. Judah won this battle.
"It's Gray, and you keep that on your mind so you won't ask again."
Judah chuckled, genuinely amused at Gray's spunk, and he found it cute.
"Is that so?"
"Yes. I don't plan to be here long. Just fix my leg so I can run again."
Judah stood up and laughed deeply, finding this short woman hilarious at this point. For a Haquihana she's too dense and tries to look intimidating when Judah sees her as a cute little kitten. And he knew that moments like that would make putting up with her that much more worth it.
"Then I'll just have to run and catch you again," Judah said, teasing her.
"Heh! It's like you caught me because of your speed, boy; I tripped, you know that. And you caught me thanks to my clumsy leg," Gray said, irked.
Judah chuckled again. Sure, she had tricked him several times by hiding her scent and her non-stop zigzag runs. He could see how smart his mate would be.
"It's fate," Judah said. It's a good sign that Gray started to warm to him. "I would have waited for you to get tired before claiming you," he said.
"Like I would be tired that easily. I've trained hard for the sole purpose of running away from you," Gray declared.
"Well, Gray, sorry to break your effort. You'll not go anywhere. I have selected you as my mate. You belong to me now," he informed her.
Judah saw a look of pure hatred on her face and then one of confusion. Just when he had thought she got the message, Gray smiled.
"We'll see about that, Mr. Alpha."
They say Haquihanas are viewed as the substitute for a lost mate and that their only purpose was to breed. Since fate has abandoned them from the moment they are born, some wolves view them as someone who can do their plaything while waiting for their real mate. Gray refused to let anyone go near her after she was busted about being a Haquihana. She doesn't let anyone look down on her, especially her Alpha. She hated him to the core, and he was the reason why she was here with the dangerously sexy Alpha. Gray watched as Judah pulled a box out of the cabinet in the upper cabinet above the sink. When she looked at it closely, it was a medical kit. She also saw him pulling a bottle of something called gin, as she could see on the label. She glared at him when he gently grabbed her leg and pulled it on his lap. Judah wanted to ignore the glare, but he felt her glare burning holes through the top of his head while working on her wounded ankle. To ease the tension between them, he decide
"You want to bet?" Gray asked him, confident she would never fall to this hungry alpha. "Do you have anything to bet on?" Judah asked her jokingly. Gray thought for a moment. "I do, hungry Alpha," she said. Judah heaved a sigh. Talking to this drunk woman will be futile. As much as he wanted to have her now, he postponed it. "My name is Judah, and not a hungry Alpha," he said. "Whatever, Judah," she said. "You're still a hungry alpha for me; otherwise, you wouldn't be here with me in this cabin if you were not," she said. Judah smiled softly at her."Isn't that what this game is? I needed a mate, and you are available. I can't see why I should explain myself to you, Gray." "Correction against my will," Gray replied, feeling like everything was spinning. "Do Haquihanas don't have a choice to choose who they want to mate with?" Judah didn't say anything because he didn't know the answer. It's the council that should answer her question. He sighed and sat on the couch, grabbing
Judah stood up beside the open window and crossed his arms. He needed some fresh air, and getting near Gray was dangerous for now. "Marking will come with a terrible burning pain at first and then feverish symptoms, but hopefully, you'll live," he explained. He pulled one of those couches and sat down as he watched Gray writhe around on the bed. Gray was trying to understand why marking was freaking painful, and she asked the Goddess why she was being punished like this. "I know the situation isn't ideal for you, but it isn't about you or what you want anymore. You have to accept it, and things will be easier for us," Judah added. Gray wanted to scream curses at Judah or attack him and do something, but her body wouldn't allow her to do it. Her body was busy succumbing to the pain, and all she had to do was to scream, sobbing, and feeling embarrassed. Gray was weak and would try to take good care of her. She doesn't want that. Of all things, that is the last thing she would allow
Judah saw Gray crying but decided not to say anything. Whatever emotions she was dealing with wasn't his business, and she would not talk to him about it anyway. But he felt a little sympathy for her, though. Gray has been taken away from everything she had known and thrown into the forest to be chased by animalistic men who couldn't wait to claim her. Judah couldn't blame her actions so far but couldn't tolerate any more of it. He was doing it for a cause, to ensure the survival of his pack and to have the crown, which was his birthright. "Do you want to go outside? I mean to have some fresh air," Judah tried to talk to her. Gray looked at him, irritated. She didn't know when he would take a hint. She wasn't in a conversing mood, and she thought that she had made that clear. Gray looked down into her half-empty mug of tea and sighed. "Leave me alone, please," she whispered. Judah saw that she wasn't trying to be disrespectful and that she really needed her space. He decided to
Gray never thought that she would ever hope Judah would help her in this situation. But if he forcefully makes her his, he'd better show up wherever he is when she needs him. The louder she got, the more pressure the wolf put on her neck, almost a warning to keep the noise down. She was tired and realized she hadn't eaten in days. Her energy was depleted despite desperate attempts to break free. By now, Gray had learned her lesson that fighting her destiny was hard. She knew that running and fighting back wouldn't help her right now. She needed to stop acting tough, and she needed someone to help her, and that was Judah, against her will mate. Right after she was about to lie down and accept what would happen, a large black wolf came out of nowhere, grabbing the other wolf by the back of its neck and throwing him away. The wolf stood up, and instead of running away, he challenged Judah, facing him straight.Judah stood over Gray, who was lying between all four paws, and nuzzled her
Meanwhile, at the Castle of Fenrir, King Heiydess has anticipated the return of his son, Judah. He has been looking forward to his daughter-in-law carrying his grandchildren. "Papa," he heard a call from his favourite adopted daughter, Faye. "Why did you get up from your bed? Are you okay? Does the castle doctor agree about this?" she said, worried. "Oh, that? No, my sweet darling. I'm looking forward to Judah's return. I want to meet my future daughter-in-law as soon as possible," he replied cheerfully. Faye was saddened by what the King said. She, too, wanted to see Judah back, but unlike the King, she didn't want him to be with someone as low as Haquihana, the breeder. "Oh, don't be sad, Faye. This is for the kingdom's sake," the kind said when he noticed Faye's reaction. She immediately changed her expression into a happy one and smiled at the King. "I know, Papa," she said. "It's just that I'm used to Judah being single," she lied. "Well, when he returns, he will no longer
Gray couldn't help but feel sorry for what she did to Judah. She had already labeled him a hungry wolf who only wanted to hump her and breed. And now, she realized Judah actually had helped her in a way she was too blind to notice. All she had done was run away, fight, and loathed him with her entire life. Was she wrong to judge the man? And she knew he didn't deserve that. Gray looked down at her empty bowl. The tears started to swell up, feeling guilty that she had overreacted. "I'm sorry," she started. "Joining this game against my will was not what I really wanted. I want to fall in love with someone who can see me, not just a breeding wolf, and make me feel like I'm their true mate. And I want to feel loved not because of my ability to carry multiple pups at one pregnancy but because I am me, a Haquihana. I want to fall in love with my terms, not this way. And most of all, I want to be free," she added, looking at Judah. "If I were with you, I'm unsure if I would learn to love
Gray sensed Judah was tense like she was going to escape or anything. There will be a time for that. She only wanted to relieve herself. The smell of the forest, especially after a heavy rain, tickled Gray's nose. The remnants of the humidity from the night before lingered on her skin. She shut her eyes and rolled her head back. Ah, she could hear everything. Her ears caught the cry of early birds overhead, the sirens of crickets still singing their songs after a long night, and she could hear the small fish jumping off a lake nearby. She stretched and painlessly slid into her wolf form. This was how she felt most comfortable and how she started every day. Her claws dug into the earth and shook her coat out. Gray relieved herself and began to pace. Usually, she does her business inside her room in her human form, but since she's not at her house, she does it with her wolf. She wanted to do some morning runs, but her new Alpha still needed to trust her. She could bet everything she
