Chapter 4

Vivian's journey to Gael continued, not in a carriage with the guards but with a werewolf who claimed to be Alpha Styx's advisor and forced her to walk to the palace with him. Someone she couldn't help but be scared of.

"You must hate Alpha Styx a lot?" Karl commented, his lips curling into a smile. This was the first time he would see a lady, choosing to rather die than to marry his Alpha. Alpha Styx was ruthless, but the ladies still couldn't help but fall at his feet which was why he found Vivian's behavior... interesting.

Vivian let out a sigh and responded; "I don't hate him, I'm scared of spending the rest of my life with a bedridden man"

"Bedridden?" Karl asked, confused.

"Yes! According to the rumors I have heard so far, Alpha Styx is one of the weak werewolves. He has been bedridden for years now and he also..." Vivian stopped for a while, she gazed around to see if no one was there. "Stinks!"

"Oh?!" Karl mumbled quietly, he bit his lips to stop himself from laughing. How he wished Alpha Styx or even Theo was here.

Vivian stopped walking and gasped in shock. She took a few steps from Karl, glaring at him; "You aren't Alpha Styx's advisor are you?"

"Why do you think so?" questioned Karl, who had also stopped walking.

"You don't even know that Alpha Styx's is bedridden, how can you not know that!" She yelled, reaching a conclusion without allowing Karl to defend himself.

Karl's lips broke into a smile, he wasn't wrong after all. She was really going to change the palace with her childish attitude.

"Who knows..." Karl smirked, taking a step closer to her while she took a step back out of fear. "I might be sent here to kill you...you know? Cut off your limbs..."

Vivian couldn't hide her fear, she could hear the last beating of her heart against her ribcage and that was scaring the shit out of her. She shouldn't have said a thing, she should have kept shut and quietly followed him. At least she wouldn't have an idea about what he wanted to do to her and she would be safe. She would be safe from getting killed?!

"Then, I'll pluck out your two eyes and enjoy seeing you groan in pain. You'll ..."

"I'm sorry!" Vivian pleaded, those were the only words she could think of even though she knew too well that wouldn't help her to escape her death but surprisingly...it did.

Karl chuckled lightly, seeing how scared she was. He took a step back, creating a distance between the two of them. "You really believe he's bedridden?"

Vivian let out a huge breath, happy that he didn't hurt her. She stared into his brown eyes, as if she could see what was going on in his mind. She removed her gaze from him and kept walking towards the palace.

Karl followed her, waiting for her to give him a reply but it seems that she chose to ignore him.

Few minutes passed and they were close to reaching the palace. Vivian knew too well that if she hadn't tried to escape then she would have reached the palace and she won't have to walk all the way to the palace. Her legs were hurting badly but she chose to keep walking, afraid that if she stopped then Karl would have the chance to hurt her or even kill her. She still doesn't trust him, she just wants to run far away from him and reach the palace safely.

She stopped walking, recalling he had asked her a question. She found it strange when he asked her, could it be that the rumors were wrong and they were wrong; "Isn't he bedridden then?"

Karl smiled and responded; "You are his wife, you'll know soon enough if that's true or not"

"Bride,"

"Huh?" Karl furrowed his brows confused.

"We never got married, he didn't show up. So, I'm still his bride and that's what I'll always be"

~~~~~
'Silence!'
Styx was on his throne, his eyes were cold and held no emotions in them whatsoever. The council members stood in front of him, glaring at the man that has no respect for them. He even dared to disobey their orders?!
"What are you planning on doing with the girl, Styx?" one of the oldest werewolves, Leo, asked, staring right into Styx's eyes as if he was trying to see right into his mind to figure out what he was thinking. He tried to use his powers on Styx but once again, Styx was immune to his powers.
A long deafening silence took over, their attention was on Styx, waiting for him to give an answer but it seems to be ignoring them once again.
"It's a question, Styx. A question I need and answer to"
Styx's lips curled into an evil grin and answered; "Nothing,"
"Nothing?"
"I'm planning on making her my bride till her last breath. She's human after all and humans are weak and vulnerable. She should die in a few years." He replied bluntly.
"Styx!" Leo yelled, fuming with anger.
"Alpha Styx, " Styx corrected, adding to Leo's anger.
"Ahh!" Leo chuckled lightly, that was the only thing he could do. He felt bad for the human girl that was to be his wife. He couldn't help but be afraid that he'll destroy her just like he did to his mother. Regretting his decision of asking him to marry the human girl in the first place.
Leo turned to look at the other council members and he could see the fear in their eyes. It turns out, he was the only one stupid enough to question Styx...Alpha Styx's decisions. They probably saw him as a fool, he was really a fool.
~~~~~

Karl and Vivian finally reached the palace. Vivian stood in front of the palace gate, admiring the castle that would be her home for the next three months.

"This is..."

"Beautiful?" Karl completed her sentence, walking through the palace gate with Vivian tailing behind him.

"Huge"

Karl's lips curled into a smile. The guards bow their heads as a sign of respect for the king's advisor. Curious about the woman he brought to the palace, they couldn't help but think that she must be important for the king's advisor to escort her.

Karl nodded his head in response. They both walked through the corridor, leading to the courtroom. Theo had mind linked him earlier before entering the palace about Styx's meeting with the council members, asking him to bring Vivian along, hoping that would calm Leo's anger a bit.

The corridor was silent, too silent and that made Vivian curious. It felt like this part of the palace was deserted, there was not even a single maid walking around and she found that extremely strange.

Back in the courtroom, the atmosphere was tense. Leo was angry and Styx wasn't ready to give in to his demands. He went out of his way and accepted the marriage but that doesn't mean he's going to get married to an ordinary human. To him, marriage is nothing but a burden, a burden he wasn't ready to carry.

"You'll ruin her life, Styx"

"I didn't. Her life was already ruined, the second she agreed to the marriage" he responded bluntly, with no ounce of emotion in his eyes.

Leo let out a sigh, it was impossible arguing with someone like Styx. "So, she'll be in your palace doing nothing? You should just have allowed her to stay back at her kingdom," Leo snapped at Styx.

With a smirk on his face, Styx responded; "I'll put her to a much better use, Leo. She'll be my favorite toy, my favorite sex toy"
