Chapter 7

Kyren’s Pov

“Thank you for inviting us, but I am sorry we have to leave now,” Dominic said, smiling softly at Noah.

I didn’t bother to hear what he had to say, I was already walking out of the hall. “Alpha king, we still haven’t talked about the expansion…”

“Don’t hope on it,” I hissed, storming out.

Dominic was already on my heels, the second I walked out. He didn’t say a thing, but I could feel his anger, “You messed this up, Kyren,” he grumbled.

I kept my eyes fixed on the car ahead, my mind counting in seconds, holding back from reaching into the anger and storming back there to fucking break his head in.

He lied, fucking stared me in the eye and lied. And the rest of the pack, they had been so far up his ass to see the kind of man they called a leader.

“Kyren…”

“Dominic, I am at my last strain of resolve, don’t fucking push it,” I snapped, slamming the car door behind me.

He sighed, stepping into the car as he closed the door behind him, “You are losing focus, why are you so distraught about her? She is just a girl... a married woman to be precise,” he growled.

That was the million-dollar question.

I have seen women. A thousand and one of them and yet, there was something about her that made me want to literally kill everyone.

“He hurt her, you know I don’t support that,” I growled.

He sighed, “I do, but I also know that you wouldn’t jump into it without at least looking back to be sure that you have all the facts correct,”

My glare deepened, “What are you trying to say?” I snapped. “Do you think she would lie about such a thing?”

He looked shocked at my word, “she wouldn’t lie, I know that… I know that she was only lying to cover his ass, but here is the thing, you have just exposed her husband without concrete evidence, and now, you can’t even take her away... don’t you think that you have put her in more danger than she should have been in?”

Fuck! I didn’t fucking think of this.

All I knew was that I saw the mark on her cheeks and my brain short-circuited.

“Driver…”

“No…”

“What the fuck are you doing?” I hissed at Dominic, tonight, he was really pushing my buttons, trying to see how hard he could push.

And I was very close to snapping, friends, or not. I was close to snapping.

“What do you plan to do? Go back in there and take another man’s wife? Do you think this is how it would work? Because newsflash Kyren, you will only be putting her in more danger,” he yelled. “If Noah is spooked, there is no telling what he might do. He can even take her to work in those same shops we are trying to destroy,”

He wasn’t wrong. Truth was, I wasn’t thinking about anything. All that was on my mind was that I needed to get her to safety.

“So, what should we do?” I asked.

“We wait…” I wanted to argue, wanted to tell him that waiting would hurt…waiting could kill her.

“If my sources are correct, Noah is going to mess up sooner than you think, and all we have to do is use the right authority and the right means to get him. That is the only way you can secure her safety,” he said.

“Sources?”

He smirked, “Well, I had to do something… his secretary, the girl that Noah was cosy with, she is well… how do I put this nicely?” he paused, his fingers tapping his chin as if he was thinking for the right word to use. “She is dick happy… show her what she wants and she will tell you everything,”

I grimaced, irritated by what I had just heard.

“Plus, Noah has been sleeping with her for a little over three weeks,” he added.

That bastard. How could he have something that good and still fumble it?

“Please don’t tell me…”

He looked at me with an offended look on his face, “Do you really think that I would allow her anywhere near my jewels,” he glared. “She felt me over my pants and was fucking salivating like a bitch on heat,”

If the mood were different, I would have laughed at his words.

“Good, I guess she can give us everything that we want to know,” I said, trying to reel my mind back from the anger that hadn’t quite died.

“We can, but I think Noah knows just how loose-mouthed she is, and I am afraid to say that she doesn’t know much. Not in what we would want anyway,” he said.

Damn.

My mind wandered back to her, as much as I wouldn’t want to, I couldn’t stop thinking about the way she looked sad the minute her eyes had flickered to my side. I wanted nothing more than to hold her in my arms, kissing away the pain.

Kissing? The idea tore through me like a damn wild beast.

I knew there was no need to try to pretend, not when I had her in my arms, the minute that I held her, grabbed her tight to my chest as we danced. I had felt that tug, the one nerve in my body that I never knew existed.

I thought that part had died. But somehow, feeling her touch, everything was brought back to life.

“I guess we have to meet with Noah again,” I grumbled, hating that I had to return to see him. But if this was the only way to see her, I would have to endure the excruciating pain of listening to his voice.

“You won’t, but I will… I can’t have you losing control again,” he said.

“I won’t,” I snapped, angry at the fact that he was trying to undermine me. “We will return… get back on track as we had planned,”

He smiled, “Just in one day, you have offended an alpha and somehow found yourself infatuated with his wife… this should be interesting,” he chuckled.

I ignored his words, turning my head to face the window. Infatuation, was that what this really was? I mean, I can’t deny that there was a curiosity that I felt in my bones towards her.

Fuck it.

My first attraction had to be a fucking married woman.

The moon goddess must be having a great laugh.
