He was gone.

I don’t know how I knew it. But I could just feel it in my bones that Kyren was no longer in our land.

I knew what she was planning to say. I didn’t want to see that pity in her eyes, “I am okay,” I was saying that a lot. It was getting hard to actually believe the words.

“I think I should return home,” I muttered, hiding the grimace on my face the minute I said home. The house had lost the sense of a home.
