Chapter 18

Margaret is shaking as she takes my hand and walks through the door to Alexander's bedroom. I inhale deeply trying to remember the scent that used to hang heavily in the air. The faint scent of vanilla that used to be so alluring to me now makes me feel sick to my stomach. His bedroom is decorated just as I remember. Large dark wood furniture engulfs the space of the bedroom. Dark burgundy blankets and pillows cover the massive four poster bed that is nestled in the center of the room. Curtains of the same color of burgundy hang heavily over the windows, blacking out any light that might shine through them. All in all the room is dark and depressing. I cannot remember what I used to find so enticing about it.

Dragging me to the center of the floor, Margaret releases my hand and stands awaiting directions from Alexander. I watch as her blonde hair curtains around her face as she keeps her eyes trained to the ground. Carefully I look from Margaret to Alexander and back to M
