Chapter 44: Revenge and protection

Mia had her hands folded across her chest, looking ahead over the sea. It was only a matter of time before they landed on the shore. Many thoughts clouded her mind, and she could barely navigate her way through them. Most times, she gave herself over to her thoughts; they were about everyone she had back at Wahala, and she wondered if they were okay, if they were fine. Could she even ask such a question, knowing that Elliot was king and would most likely remove anyone who stood in opposition?

She kept thinking about the things she could have done to change this. Xavier told her not to blame herself for the way things turned out, but she couldn’t help it.
