Gideon suddenly jumped off me, a grim expression on his face. My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach, thinking it was something I unknowingly did.

Before I could say anything, he raked his hand through his hair, rage and frustration burning through his eyes. “The prisoner. The rogue. Fuck! I need to leave.”

He let out a sharp sigh before continuing, “Make yourself comfortable while I am—”

“What happened to the rogue?” I cut him off sharply as I also jumped off the bed.

“Ethan just told me that he’s dead,” he said.

“What?!” I exclaimed, my eyes widening with complete shock. How could that be? “What... what happened?” I stammered.

“I don’t know. I am going to figure that out now. Remain in the room, I’ll come back to you as soon as I can, okay?” he said as he turned around to leave.

“I am coming with you,” I quickly said, following behind him.

“Daisy...” he tried to stop me, but I wasn’t having it.

“I am going, Gideon. Please do not try to stop me.”
