LOGINBOOK 3 of The Shadow Wolf series. BOOK 1&2 Forced To Be His Bride. Fated To Be His Mate. Her Redemption. When I was thirteen I was bitten by a strange wolf who turned into a man with no past, no present, and no name. Although he was a rogue who knew nothing of his life before we met, he became someone so important to me that my love for him even outshone that of my own mate. However, he only sees me as his savior and his charge granted to him by my father, the alpha of Emerald Moon. But I refuse to continue letting him see me as that. Even if it takes my whole life, I will make him love me as much as I love him.

I sit quietly, staring at the babbling brook in front of me as it sweeps easily across smooth pebbles and sparkling rocks. Even though I know that my father will go ballistic that I’m out here alone in the middle of the forest, I still snuck out to try to clear my mind after my shitty day of training.
As the daughter of an alpha, a great one at that, there was a lot expected of me and though I was able to live up to those expectations, I was still not accepted by the youth of my pack.
Pulling my knees closer against my chest, I close my eyes and let the faces of all those who taunted me appear. Even if I know they shouldn’t bother me, I just can’t get their voices out of my head.
“You’re only that cocky because you're the daughter of an alpha.”
“I bet all of your scores were given because of your backer.”
“You’re just a freak with a powerful daddy.”
“A woman will never be accepted as alpha.”
“Stop being delirious.”
Again and again, their voices and faces swirl in my mind, making me believe that they’re right.
‘Don’t let them get to you.’ Mahogany, my wolf, whispers. ‘They’re just jealous because you’re the strongest in the class.’
I don’t bother responding to her words as I open my eyes and take in the brook in front of me. Maybe she was right, maybe she wasn’t; I truly didn’t have any way of knowing. Even I sometimes wondered if the students and teachers went easy on me because my parents are the alpha and luna of Emerald Moon. Maybe I was really a fake with a superiority complex. Since I was young, I was always the strongest in my classes, but what if everyone was actually going easy on me?
Sighing, I stand up and wipe the dirt and dead leaves from my ass before turning and heading back to Emerald Moon.
Above, the sun is beginning to set, and I knew that my parents would be expecting me soon.
As I walk slowly, I listen to the sounds of the forest around me. Small creatures scurry about while the limbs above me sway, filling the air with a peaceful melody that calms my heart almost anyway, but all of that is ruined as the sound of branches cracking reaches me.
Stopping, I go on alert, extending my senses until I feel something dark and sinister pressing against me.
‘What is that?’ Mahogany asks as a shiver races through me, ‘I’ve never felt something like that before.’
‘I don’t know.’ I admit, keeping my attention turned in the direction of the thing. ‘But whatever it is, it isn’t good.’
Never in my life have I felt something like this, and even though I knew that I possessed immense strength due to my lineage, I couldn’t help but feel like it was much stronger than me. And with that worry, two thoughts immediately hit me.
To flee or to fight.
As they appear, a loud snarl rips through the trees, and whatever it is that I’m sensing begins to move, rushing straight for me.
Realizing that my only choice was to fight, I begin to shift, and once I’m in my wolf form, a large mutated wolf rips through the foliage and rushes straight for me. It’s like nothing I’ve seen before, from its glowing red eyes to its saliva covered muzzle. Even its body looks distorted, with missing fur and bones sticking out.
‘What the hell?’ Mahogany growls as the wolf slams into us, and we begin to engage in battle. ‘What is this thing?’
‘I don’t know.’ I admit snapping and clawing at the creature while it tries to find somewhere to bite down on me. ‘But it’s strong.’
If I were being honest, this thing was stronger than even my father, and that was terrifying given the fact that he was one of the strongest alpha’s to exist in centuries.
Ignoring the fear that is slowly growing in me, I continue to fight, tearing and biting where I can, until the thing finally manages to snap its jaw around my shoulder.
Letting out a howl of agony, I pull with all my might until I’m free and then scurry back while it spits out the meat that it managed to rip from me.
‘Fuck.’ I growl, bracing myself for another attack. ‘It may be too strong for me.’
‘Then should we run?’
Mahogany doesn’t need to ask twice before I’m turning and moving, weaving my way through the trees while the wolf follows me with immense speed.
Faster. I hiss inwardly, feeling my lungs and muscles screaming at me. Move faster, Serenity!
Just ahead, I could make out the pack house and those who milled about. If I just managed to get past the territory line, then...
The rest of my thoughts get lost as the wolf slams into me, tackling me to the ground and pinning me there.
With wide eyes, I watch while it opens its muzzle and prepares to attack, but then stops.
For a moment, it doesn’t move as a strange look appears in its bloody red eye, and before I can figure out what is happening, it collapses on top of me.
As we both lay there, the sounds of shouting began to echo, but I could hardly hear them as I watched the beast slowly shift from a terrifying wolf to a handsome man with long, crimson-colored hair and a bushy beard.
When the nearby guards finally pull him off of me, I get to see that his body is suffering from extreme malnourishment and astrophe.
“Princess!” One of the guards gasps, helping me onto my paws. “What happened? Who is he?”
Shaking my head, I continue to examine the man while shifting back into my human form.
“I don’t know.” I admit feeling like something was off. “That question will have to wait until he wakes up.”
Everything after that is a blur of motion as the guards work to carry the man toward the packhouse while I follow silently.
“What’s happening?” My father roars, appearing at the top of the steps. “What’s with all the noise? Serenity,” he continues spotting me and taking in my condition. “Who did this?”
“That’s…” I begin, but stop as the man the guards are carrying begins to stir.
“Help,” he whispers, his face contorting. “Please help me!”
Instantly, he is thrashing like something is attempting to get him, causing the guards to fight him to the ground where they can better control him.
“Who the hell is he?” My father growls, starting to come down the stairs, while my brother, Alec, follows. “Someone better fucking tell me what is going on.”
My father’s aura explodes from his body as he speaks, pressing into everyone's skin, causing them to cower while the man continues to fight.
“Dad!” I gasp, moving toward him. “Try to calm down.”
“Calm down?” He repeats, his eyes flashing. “My daughters hurt, and there is a random fucking freak on the ground screaming like he is being attacked. How am I supposed…”
“The most important thing is calming this man down!” I argue, stepping between him and the man. “We can question him then.”
[Serenity’s POV]My grandmother stares at me, shock coloring her features, but deep in her eyes that are the same color as mine, the same color as my mom's, I can see a bit of pride over the choice that I am making.“Is that your final decision?” She asks, eyeing me. “Do you plan on letting the time of the wolves disappear forever if it means saving your mother?”“I am,” I tell her. “I won’t let my mother die, and I won’t let this cycle continue.”“Then I won’t stop you from doing what you want, sweetheart.” She smiles, moving forward and touching my cheek. However, where I expect a warm, comforting touch, I find nothing but cold tendrils erupting and slowly beginning to flow into me.“This,” I gasp, my eyes widening. “What are you…”“I’m making sure that you don’t decide to go against your decision, sweetie.” She responds, her eyes now dark, endless tunnels slowly sucking me in. “You’ll need a strong determination to watch your world crash and burn. I’m only giving that to you.”“But
[Serenity’s POV]I’m drifting. My body is light and weighs almost nothing. I feel like I’m floating in a warm darkness that is slowly disrupted by a light that grows brighter by the minute until it is almost blinding.“What?” I hiss, blocking my eyes from the bright light. “What is…”“Serenity.”The voice is soft and comforting, and I feel like I’ve heard it somewhere before. I’m not quite sure where it was, maybe in a distant memory or even a dream, but I’m certain that I know it.“Sweetheart, you have to stop them.” It continues when I don’t speak. “Otherwise, I fear that our race will soon be ending.”“Who are you?” I ask, blinking in an attempt to be able to see the one speaking. “Why do you know these things?”As I speak, the light in front of me begins to fade; slowly but surely, I can soon see the one speaking, and she looks almost like my mother, but completely different.“Grandma?” I whisper, remembering the stories I’ve heard of her from my mother. They were few, but enough
[William’s POV]“That’s enough! We can discuss all of this later. For now, we need to get moving. Serenity is waiting for us to save her, and if you want to stay and talk, I’ll go without you!”Maverick’s voice rings out into the night as I take Denali in. Fuck, she looks rough, and I was certain if Rosco was in his right mind, he would be ripping Jose into a million pieces, but since he wasn’t here, wasn’t that honor left to me?It would be, but Maverick was right; we didn’t have time to be standing around here. We needed to go to where Serenity was. Although, I was certain that Ellie and Ezekial wouldn’t make it easy. Now it makes sense. I think, remembering the wolves who attacked me on the road on my way back here. They were set all around the backgrounds to make sure that no one got in and no one got out, but they messed with the wrong fucking one. And I guess I needed to thank them for doing that since it made me call on my elites.Fate is on my side. I think, feeling a wave of
[Maverick’s POV]I watch silently as the two sisters exchange words while everything in me screams to get moving. I know that there is a chance that they may never see each other again, and because of that, they should say what they want, but every moment Serenity wasn’t with me was torture. However, even then I don’t say anything, nor do I attempt to move.I have to hold comfort in knowing that they won’t kill Serenity. Since it was her blood that Ellie and Ezekial were after, I knew that she wouldn’t be killed, but that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t be tortured.Please. I whisper silently, my prayer going out into the darkness around me. Please be safe.As I speak, I find myself searching for Serenity even though I know deep down that I won’t be able to connect with her. There was no way that Ellie would allow something like that since it would mean that it would be easier to find her, but even then I search.Serenity. I whisper, my heart squeezing painfully. Where are you?Closing
[Elise’s POV]I stare at Jose, wondering what exactly it was that he was trying to say. It was like a foreign language to me.Mindlink? What was that?“Let me explain.” He says when I give him a questioning look. “Mindlink is how wolves communicate with one another from long distances.”Frowning, I try to process what he’s telling me. Of course, it sounds absolutely ridiculous, but given the circumstances, I was willing to believe that there actually was such a thing. But how did you go about doing it? What was the trick?“Okay,” I say slowly, deciding that it was better to just be told than try to make sense of it. “And how exactly will we be able to do it?”For a moment, he doesn’t speak. Instead, he exchanges a glance with Denali and Maverick, who watch on silently.“She already has a pack.” Denali says quietly, giving me a look. “Even if they abandoned her.”“Then she doesn’t need that pack.” Maverick huffs. “I say that she has full reason to swear her loyalty to Jose in this situ
[Maverick’s POV]Pain shoots through me as smoke threatens to suffocate me. There’s fire all around me and debris from the explosion that took place. A beam lies across me, holding me in place as I fight to break free. And as I search the area, I don’t see anybody who is capable of helping.Shit. I think, drawing on all the strength I have. What the hell even happened?Last I remembered I was fighting two of Ezekial’s wolves, and then there was a loud boom and then blackness. From what I could see, I was certain that a bomb had been planted and it went off during the fighting. But why?Wasn’t the one who set it off aware that their own was still in the building? Did that mean that they didn’t give a shit who was taken out by it?Or…Panic begins to flare up in me as I continue to fight the beam on top of me, struggling with all my might to budge even an inch, and once I do that, I wriggle some more.“Get off me.” I hiss, clawing at the floor for leverage. “Get the hell off of me.”Wit
