🌒 Chapter Twenty-Seven: Preparations

The morning dawned cold and bright, the sky clear for the first time in weeks.

Raven stood on the training field, the scent of frost and pine sharp in her lungs. She watched her warriors spar, drills flowing like a dance, each movement precise.

They needed to be ready.

In two days, the council would arrive.

Loki shifted beside her, brushing dirt off his hands. “They’re improving. We’re ready for a fight if it comes.”

“We shouldn’t need to fight,” Raven muttered, though Shadow disagreed, pacing inside her.

They will challenge us. Her wolf’s voice was a low growl.

Raven’s eyes flickered gold before settling back to amber, her jaw tightening.

Behind her, Ragnar approached, the storm swirling quietly around him, contained but ready. His eyes were calm, the gray of a coming rain, but there was tension in his shoulders.

He wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. “You’re thinking too loud again.”
