Chapter Two

I made it to my room and walked in, sighing as I felt the cool breeze from the open archway, the green stained glass window making my room a kaleidoscope of colour that complimented the colourful stone, my emerald bed frame glinting from the sun. I took off my robe and left it over the footboard of the bed before laying down on my unmade bed and sighed as I picked up my phone from the bedside table, sighing as I saw the texts from Silas.

I wasn’t fully ignoring him, I was texting him often, I just wasn’t telling him exactly what was going on because it wasn’t something I could fully explain to him. Because of the mate bond, it was very difficult and it hurt to hide things from him. I sighed and set my phone down, closing my eyes and bringing my blanket over me, tucking it under my chin as I lay on my side and look out the window.

I turned as my door opened and Blaze walked in, smirking as he saw me in bed and burrowed under my blankets. I watched him warily, noting the mischief in his eyes and the way he oozes sensuality. I envied that of him, wanting to do the same just so I could affect him that way as well. He always made me feel off-balance and like a blushing fool.

“Well well little mouse, don’t you look all cozy in there. Going to let me in to play?” he purred as he stalked towards the bed, looking sensual and predatory as his voice made my skin tingle and my insides churn. Feeling a surge of annoyance I decided to have some tense fun of my own. I looked at him with a small smirk and lifted the blanket a little for him to lay down.

“Come lay with me Balze. I want to feel your skin against mine.” I said softly, my voice a little breathy as my body got excited at the implication of pushing boundaries with Blaze. His red eyes glowed and his jaw clenched as my words registered with him, his chest rumbling in a deep purr like sound as he stalked towards the bed, climbing under the thick covers with me and immediately pulling me to him, our chests flush against one another as we lay facing each other.

“And you call me a tease little mouse. What is it that you are doing now?” His voice was a husky whisper as his warm hands traced all over my bare back, the dress completely exposing my entire back with the ties at my neck. His bare chest was warm under my hands and my stomach tightened from his proximity, his nostrils flaring and his eyes darkening as he scented my arousal.

“You started this between us first Blaze, I’m only giving you a taste of your own medicine.” I whispered, licking my lips as I stared at him, my breathing uneven from the dangerous game we were playing. His eyes flicked to my lips before going back to my face. His fingers played along the back of my dress, exploring the hem that sat just above my ass. My breath hitched from his touch and I could feel the power behind my gaze, knowing my emerald eyes must be glowing.

“I may have started it, yes, but now you are taking it to the very edge, playing with fire, little mouse. Can we stop before we’re consumed?” he asked as he untied the ties at my neck, the halter straps falling down my chest and exposing the tops of my breast to him. He growled deep in his throat and traced his fingers over the mounds of my breast, the fabric slipping down slightly with each pass of his fingers.

I gasped and dug my nails into his bareback, sighing with how pleasurable his touch felt, tingles erupting all over my skin. My eyes flutter closed and I licked my lips sighing as he leant forward and lightly skimmed his nose along my neck, my core hot and tight as my arousal flared. He took a deep breath as he inhaled my scent, his tongue flicking out and licking the hollow of my throat, searing the skin in the most pleasurable way as I clung to him. The buzzing of my phone was like cold water being poured on me, making me gasp and pull away from Blaze. I stared at him wide-eyed before taking a deep breath and picking up my phone, answering it without looking.

“Hello?”

“Kara. You’ll finally talk to me now without getting everyone else to give me your messages.” Silas’s voice was deep and angry over the line, making me sigh and run my hand through my hair.

“Silas, I haven’t been ignoring you maliciously. I’ve just had a lot going on and I’m not sure how to process it. Much less burden you with it. Don’t be angry with me mate, I need you to understand why I’ve been so distant.” I sigh and bite my lip as I look at Blaze. For a moment he looks angry and frustrated before sighing silently and laying back on my bed with his hands behind his head, watching me as I talk.

“Well I don’t understand Kara, you’re not talking to me, you’re only texting and I have no idea what's going on. I knew healing you would take time, but not over two weeks.” He huffed angrily. I sighed and flopped back on the bed, glaring up at the gold gauzy canopy.

“Silas please, there’s enough going on here that I don’t need this too. I will be home on Monday and then you will have all the answers you want. I just...it’s not a conversation that can be had over the phone or text.” I looked over at Blaze and smiled softly at him as he started to play with my hair, running his fingers through it slowly. I adjusted myself on the bed, the fabric rustling as I moved.

“What are you doing?” Silas asked curiously.

“I’m laying in bed, why?”

“With who?” he bit out, a bit of a growl in his voice.

“Why would I be in bed with anyone, you’re not here so who else would it be?” I scoffed and looked at Blaze, a playful grin on his face, causing me to roll my eyes.

“I felt it, you’re strong arousal. Who are you with?”

“Silas, I told you, I’m in bed. What would I be doing alone in bed that you would feel my arousal?” I said slowly, purposely not looking at Blaze as I spoke. He was quiet for a moment before he spoke again, his voice a little deeper.

“Continue, I wanna hear you come undone. I’ll even join you.” I blushed bright red and glanced over at Blaze, a predatory and hungry smirk on his face as he could hear the entire conversation. I bit my lip and shivered lightly as he nodded and mouthed ‘do it’.

“Silas I can’t now. I ran out of time. I have to be somewhere right away and I should really wash the smell of this off my skin. Even though I didn’t get far it’s still a noticeable scent to dragons.” He growled over the line and I rolled my eyes slightly.

“Fine. Will you call me tonight?” he asked, his voice hopeful.

“If I have the time. Most likely It’ll just be texts till I’m home again. Please be patient with me  my dear.” I said softly as I sat up, bringing my knees up and resting my chest against them. He sighs and I hear some movement before he talks again.

“Fine, I understand my love. I will see you on Monday.” he sighed again as did I before saying goodbye and hanging up. I groaned and tossed the phone on the bedside table and flopped back onto the bed with a groan and let my legs flop down as well.

Blaze turned on his side to face me, his head resting on his hand and a grin on his face as he reached over and traced the fabric of my dress along my chest, my boobs dangerously close to spilling out and being on full display. I blushed bright red before grinning at him a little mischievously and quickly moving, hiking my dress up and straddling him. His eyes widened in surprise before his hands moved to my hips and I smirked at him as I retied the ties of my halter dress.

“You’ve started us on a very dangerous game path Blaze. We’re playing with fire and you know it.” I said as I looked down at him, my hands coming to rest against his bare chest, feeling his heart rapidly beating under my hands.

“I’m a dragon, little mouse, I love playing with fire.” He purred as he gripped my hips and rolled so I was under him, gasping as he leant down and ran his nose along mine, causing my breath to hitch and my cheeks to flush.
