Lara's POV

"Lara."

Alpha Lucien's voice came from somewhere down the corridor, getting closer. And I could tell from the way Raina's whole body went completely still instantly, that she had heard it too.

What happened next was fast. So fast that even lying there with blood at the corner of my mouth and pain sitting heavy across every part of my body, I almost missed the full sequence of it.

She grabbed the small iron scissors from the edge of the sink and without a single second of hesitation,

Author's POVVale walked down the corridor with his hand firmly tucked inside Beta Draven's, the way he had done since he was old enough to walk and decided that Beta Draven's hand was the right size for holding. LOL.He was six now … all sharp eyes and quick mouth, with his mother's quiet confidence already showing up in the way he carried himself and something else in his face that Beta Draven had learned not to look at too directly, because it reminded him of things best left unspoken for now."Uncle Draven, I finished my homework." Vale announced this like it was a formal declaration and not a small fact just like every other person would think. "You have to spend the whole weekend with me and mummy now.""Oh yeah?" Beta Draven looked down at him with an amused expression. "Is that the deal? I am pretty sure I spend every weekend with you guys anyway."Vale considered this for a moment, the way he considered everything. And then he tilted his head slightly, while

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 21 — The bond just vanished.

Lara's POV"Are you sure about that, Lara?" My dad asked, sitting close to the hospital bed where I was still propped up against the pillows. The labour was behind me now, and my body was beginning to remember what it felt like to breathe without fighting for every breath. We will be discharged soon. But before any of that, there were things that needed to be settled first."You really want to sever the blood bond between your child and his father." He said it slowly, not as a challenge …I guess he was just making sure he had heard me right and that I had heard myself.I looked down at my son; Vale, lying against my chest, his small face impossibly peaceful for someone who had just arrived in the world after that kind of entrance. Golden. Quiet now. Mine. And then Lucien's voice came back, the way it always did without asking permission. Clear, certain and cold, the way it had been that morning outside Dr. Asher's office when I had stood in the corridor and pressed my hand over my mou

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 20 — The bond between Alpha Lucien and the newborn.

Author's POVOn the baby coming out, the room shifted from controlled urgency into something quieter. The nurses worked quickly and carefully, lifting the baby, cleaning him up with practiced hands, and then carrying him to the prepared cot on the other side of the room while his newborn cry filled the space — small and insistent."Congratulations, Princess Lara. It's a beautiful baby boy."Lara's chest was still heaving from the labour, her hair damp and her hands trembling slightly against the bed, but her eyes went straight to the cot. To him.And then the room went completely still. The golden rays appeared without warning … starting at the baby's chest and spreading outward across his small body in pulses, the way sunrise moves across water, slow and inevitable and impossible to look away from. Not a trick of the light. Not a reflection from the equipment either. It was just him, glowing, like he had brought something with him from wherever he had come from and hadn't let go of i

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 19 — Lara awakened her inner wolf.

Author's POVA FEW MONTHS LATER…The nurse rushed out of the delivery room with her gloves already stained with blood, moving fast down the corridor to where Alpha Darius Rowan and his Luna had been sitting for the past several hours. Waiting. Neither of them had spoken much in the last thirty minutes. There was nothing left to say that wasn't already sitting heavy in the space between them.Alpha Darius Rowan was not a man who showed fear easily. He had led the Moonshade clan for decades, had navigated battles, alliances and losses that would have broken lesser Alphas. But sitting in that corridor with his wife's hand in his and the sounds from behind that closed door reaching them no matter how much they tried not to hear … that was a different kind of hard."Alpha Rowan," the nurse said, and the way she said it … rushed, barely holding the panic in her voice, made his Luna grip his arm before the sentence even finished. "She's going through a very difficult labour without an inner

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 18 — I command you to find Lara, at all cost.

Alpha Lucien's POVI was helplessly looking all moody with my glass of alcohol where I sat, placing the cup right on the table in front of me after each sip like the act of setting it down gave me something to do with my hands."Still no word from Lara?" I spoke soberly to Beta Remy."Not yet, my Alpha," he replied.I looked up with a level of anger I wouldn't quite know how to define if someone asked me to. The image that kept coming back … the one I couldn't seem to get rid of no matter how much I drank — was the border. The moment I arrived to find not an enemy attack but an organised convoy of elite guards bowing to the woman I had just expelled from my clan. Bowing to her. And then one of them … the one I had clocked as a high-ranking official from whatever clan they belonged to, judging by his bearing and his attire … had taken her hand and kissed it. Like she was royalty. Like she had always been royalty and it was simply a fact that the rest of the world was finally catching u

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 17 — Welcomed at home.

Alpha Lucien's POVI got there and nothing made sense at first.I mean, the border was supposed to be under threat as that was what Remy had said, that was why I had moved as fast as I had, leaving Raina mid-sentence and not looking back once. Hopping to see the huge pack that had breached our perimeter and Lara was headed straight into it. That was all I had been thinking about on the way over, the only thing pushing my legs faster than they normally moved. But there was no attack. No threat. Not even enemy wolves pushing through our border with hostile intent.Rather there were guards. Dozens of them, uniformed and assembled in a formation that was too precise and too deliberate, to be anything other than official. Obviously, they were not Wildfang guards because I didn't recognise the colours, the crests, or the ranks. At least, there was no way I wouldn't have recognized guards from my pack. But the highlight of everything happening right here was the fact that Lara was in the mid

Author's POV"Well, that's it." Alpha Darius Rowan said, his eyes moving over the paper in his hands for what must have been the third or fourth time, like he needed to keep reading it to believe it. "Every detail fits. And so, it means that my long lost daughter, the princes

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 15 — This is goodbye, Lucien.

Alpha Lucien's POVSomething was wrong.I had performed the expulsion ritual before. Not often … it was not something any Alpha used lightly, but I had done it. I knew what it was supposed to look like. The pain was real, the severing was real, but a person without an inner wolf should not be react

  • The Alpha Regrets; He Wants His Luna Back.   Chapter 14 —Performing the expulsion ritual.

Lara's POV"Don't be ridiculous." Lucien's voice came out low and tight, each word bitten off carefully, his jaw working around them like the sentence was costing him something he hadn't expected to spend. Almost in gritted teeth. His eyes were on my face with an intensity that would have unsettled

Lara's POVBut just then, Raina's voice cut in softly, measured and perfectly timed, the way hers always was when she needed to redirect a room."Lara, you must be mistaken. There is nothing going on between Lucien and I.""Shut up." Queen mother's voice came out flat and immediate, cutting Raina o
