The representative met her in the back room of a restaurant that did not appear on any map most humans could find.

His name was Corvin, and he had served her grandfather for thirty years before he had started serving her in secret. He was a thin man with sharp eyes and a way of folding his hands that made Ivy feel, every single time, like a child being called into a headmaster's office.

"You transferred it," he said. Not a question.

"I did."

"A billion dollars. To save a man who does not know your name is on the account that funds half the West Coast." Corvin set down his water glass with exact precision. "Miss Callaway. Forgive me. How long do you intend to keep doing this?"

"As long as it takes."

"Takes for what."

Ivy looked at her hands in her lap. "For him to need me the way I need him."

Corvin's expression did not change, which was somehow worse than if it had. "Your grandfather built Nightclaw from nothing. He gave you everything, the training, the bloodline, the throne waiting for you the moment you're ready to sit in it. And you are spending it on a man who dismissed you in a hallway."

"You don't understand."

"I understand perfectly. That's the problem." He leaned forward slightly. "Darien Blackwell told you a pack only needs one Alpha. And instead of showing him what a second one looks like, you disappeared inside a patch and a title. Omega. You. The strongest Alpha born into Nightclaw in three generations."

"He's under enormous pressure right now," Ivy said. "The pack. The investors. He only needs—"

"He needs you to keep saving him without ever having to know it," Corvin said quietly. "That's not support, Miss Callaway. That's a woman disappearing so a man never has to feel small."

Ivy said nothing. There was nothing to say, because some small, buried part of her suspected he was right, and she was not ready to let that part speak any louder than a whisper.

"Just transfer the money," she said. "Keep my name off every document. That's all I'm asking."

Corvin studied her for a long moment. Then he nodded once, the way a man nods when he has decided arguing further is a waste of good breath.

"As you wish."

Across the city, Darien's office had not slept in two days.

His advisers sat slumped around the table, ties loosened, coffee cups multiplying like weeds. Every call had ended the same way. Polite regret. Careful excuses. No one wanted to bet a billion dollars on a pack that had just lost three major investments in a single quarter, no matter how strong its Alpha's reputation had once been.

"We're out of options," his CFO said, rubbing his eyes. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I don't know what else to tell you."

Darien stood at the window, watching the city lights below, and for the first time in years he let himself imagine what it would feel like to lose. Not a fight. Not a skirmish with a rival pack. Everything. The house his father had built. The territory his grandfather had bled for. Everything, gone, because the numbers hadn't worked in his favor this one time.

The door opened without a knock.

"Alpha." Sophie Bennett stood in the doorway, breathless, her heels still in one hand as though she had run the last stretch of hallway in her stockings. "I found someone."

The room went still.

"What?"

"An investor. Willing to move a billion dollars tonight." She crossed the room quickly, setting her heels down, smoothing her hair with trembling fingers. "I've been calling contacts all day. One of them came through. The transfer is already in motion."

Darien stared at her. For a long moment he could not make himself believe it, could not let himself hope, because hope was a dangerous thing to feel with midnight this close.

"Confirm it," he said.

His CFO's phone buzzed. He read the screen, and his face changed slowly, disbelief giving way to something close to shock.

"It's real," he said. "It's already in the account."

The room erupted. Someone laughed, sharp and stunned. Someone else put both hands over his face. Darien stood frozen for a second longer, and then he crossed the room in three strides and pulled Sophie into his arms, lifting her half off the floor, something he had not done to anyone in longer than he could remember.

"You saved us," he said.

Sophie's arms wound around his neck. Over his shoulder, her smile was not the relieved smile of someone who had just pulled off a miracle. It was something quieter. Something satisfied.

She had not made a single call. She had simply been the first to overhear the transfer notification when it landed on a shared server two hours earlier, an account she was not supposed to have access to but had, because she made it her business to have access to everything that touched Darien's office. She did not know who the money belonged to. She only knew that whoever it was wanted their name kept off the paperwork.

That suited her perfectly.

"I would do anything for you," she murmured against his shoulder. "You know that."

Darien held on a moment longer than he needed to. "I don't know what I would have done without you."

Ivy arrived at the office an hour later, carrying a small thermos of the tea Darien liked when he'd been working too long, the way she had done a hundred times before.

She saw them through the glass before either of them saw her.

Sophie was still in his arms. Not falling, not being caught, simply held, her face pressed into his shoulder, his hand moving slowly across her back the way a man comforts someone he has decided matters. Darien was smiling, the wide, unguarded smile Ivy had not seen aimed at her in longer than she wanted to count.

She heard his voice through the door, muffled but clear enough.

"Sophie, I don't know what I would have done without you."

Ivy stood very still in the hallway. The thermos was warm in her hands. Somewhere behind her ribs, something that had been holding steady for three years began, very quietly, to crack.

She did not go in. She could not have gone in, not then, not with her throat closing the way it was. She turned instead, and pressed her back against the cool wall beside the door, and let herself breathe until the shape of a scream reorganized itself into something smaller and colder.

She touched her stomach. It was barely a curve yet, invisible to anyone who did not know to look.

"You have no idea what I've done for you," she whispered.

Then she turned and walked away before either of them could see her standing there, still holding the tea, still wearing his ring, still, for one more night, pretending to be a woman who needed saving.

"Explain it to me," Ivy said. "Clearly. I want to hear you say it out loud."Darien ran a hand through his hair, and for the first time in longer than she could remember, he looked genuinely rattled. "There's nothing to explain. Sophie asked me to come over to go over paperwork. It's late because the funding is complicated. That's all this is.""With wine. And a gift bag.""A thank you gift. She saved the pack, Ivy.""So did I."The words left her before she could stop them, and for one dizzying second she almost told him everything, the calls to Corvin, the billion dollars, the patch at her neck that hid an entire bloodline. But Sophie was watching her too closely, her eyes bright and calculating even through the tears gathering at their edges, and something in Ivy refused to hand this woman one more thing to use against her."What do you mean, you saved the pack?" Darien asked, frowning."Nothing," Ivy said. "Forget it."Sophie chose that moment to sniffle, delicately, dabbing at he

  • The Alpha Rejected His Hidden Luna    The Third Anniversary

Ivy woke before dawn with a single thought sitting quietly in her chest."Today, I save my marriage."It was their third anniversary. She had decided, somewhere in the sleepless hours after overhearing Sophie in that restaurant, that she would not let one conversation undo three years. Maybe Sophie was scheming. Maybe she was dangerous. But Darien was still hers, still the man who had once looked at her like she was the only steady thing in a moving world, and Ivy was not ready to let that memory go without a fight. She spent the morning in the kitchen, making his favorite meal from scratch, the one his mother used to make before she passed, the recipe Ivy had spent a full year learning to get exactly right. She hung soft lights along the terrace. She wrapped the small box again, the one with the photograph inside, and set it at the center of the table like a promise.Today, she would tell him about the baby. She checked the clock. It Seven in the evening. Darien was late, but Darien w

  • The Alpha Rejected His Hidden Luna    The Woman Who Saved His Pack

By morning, the news had already spread through every level of Moonshadow Pack. They had been saved. A billion dollars, delivered overnight, and the name attached to the miracle was Sophie Bennett. Darien called an assembly in the great hall before noon, and when he stood at the front of the room and told the pack who had rescued them, the applause that followed was loud enough to rattle the windows.Ivy stood near the back, half hidden behind a pillar, and watched Sophie accept the applause with a bowed head and a hand pressed modestly to her chest, as though the attention embarrassed her.It did not embarrass her. Ivy could see that from across the room. Sophie's eyes moved over the crowd the way a queen's eyes move over a coronation, counting the bows, counting the faces that now looked at her differently."I only did what anyone would have done," Sophie said, and the pack cheered louder.Ivy slipped out before the assembly ended. That evening, Darien found her in the kitchen, slic

  • The Alpha Rejected His Hidden Luna    The Billion Dollar Crisis

The numbers on the screen did not change no matter how many times Darien looked at them.Moonshadow Pack was bleeding money. Three major investments had collapsed in the same quarter, and the creditors calling his office were no longer polite about it. Darien Blackwell stood at the head of the conference table with his palms flat against the glass, staring down at a spreadsheet that read like a death sentence written in red."Say it again," he said. "Slower."His chief financial officer did not look up from his tablet. "Without one billion dollars in new funding by midnight, we lose the northern territories. The distilleries. Half our shipping contracts. Possibly the pack house itself.""Midnight," Darien repeated."Midnight."The room stayed silent except for the tapping of someone's pen. Darien had built Moonshadow into something that mattered. He had bled for it, clawed for it, taken it from a pack barely worth the name and turned it into one of the strongest on the coast. And now
