Chapter 39

TRISTAN POV

The court was filled up by the time I made my way inside, my legs tired from all the running I had been doing. I found myself wondering if I was getting old. In days back, it was rare for me to get tired after runs like the ones I had just done.

But I found out that I was tired, my legs were threatening to give way beneath me, and my chest was burning in protest.

I looked around the court, smiling at Logan and ignoring the burning in my chest. The rest of the brothers were all seated in their positions according to the hierarchy. I looked at the empty throne that was my father's, knowing that he always arrived at the court last.

Anybody that entered after him was turned back, if not punished. I sat next to Wilfred, one of my brothers who I couldn't place his hierarchical status. From where he sat, I could tell he was next to me, but he wasn't popular amongst the wolves. If not, I would've known him at least.
