Ambrose’s POV

“Allow me, lord Magfold, to make a statement..” Jane’s father interrupted. Something about the way he spoke so slowly made it clear that he was just about to do what I’ve always suspected for a while now.

“It is with great displeasure, and a heavy heart, that I stand here today to say that Jane here has acted quite out of character.” He started.

I sighed deeply in disgust because her behaviour shouldn’t even be a surprise to him, given how lenient he has always been with her.

Ambrose’s POV“Allow me, lord Magfold, to make a statement..” Jane’s father interrupted. “Everything she has admitted to doing, was done behind my back. I had no knowledge of any of these things and I’m only just hearing this confession here and now. The royal family has been an important part of my family, we go way back… and now seeing that my daughter has betrayed the trust we’ve worked all these years to build, breaks me.” Jane didn’t even budge. Her face remained on her frail toes as her father went on and on, dragging the time like it would be of any help to his daughter. “

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 63: Nail to the Head

Ambrose’s POV At the first light of dawn, Thor and two other guards readied the carriages for our trip to the council hall. Amanda and I stood at the entrance, watching them lead Jane, Kattie and Mary White into the first carriage with two guards to make sure neither of them did anything funny. “I’d really love to go with you, Ambrose..” Amanda sighed as my carriage came forward. “As much as I’d love for you to witness this, I also don’t think it’s a good idea to have you anywhere near Duncan at the moment. He’s quite unpredictable and I can’t take such chances..” I insisted. Her face fell but I knew I was doing the right thing by keeping her as far away as I could from the chaos that was bound to happen during the hearing today. “Well then, safe trip. And come back in one piece..” she said softly, leaning into me with a kiss on my cheek. “Claret and Nyra will take care of you, and I hear you have two new personal guards..” I added and she rolled her eyes. “We’re going to have

Amanda’s POVThe days that followed were a breeze. I felt much lighter than I’d felt in days since I came clean about Kattie’s presence in the estate. I expected that he’d be furious and turn the place inside out, but the calmness that he hit me with left me speechless, I almost didn’t believe he was being cool with her being in his territory. A soft knock on my door pulled me back from my train of thought and my head whipped towards the door. “Who’s there?” I asked, adjusting my dress. The door pushed open and Nyra walked in, holding a tray of a steaming bowl of soup and some water. “Good morning my lady, the healer instructed that you take this..” she said, placing the tray down in front of me. My eyes twitched and I gasped softly, “Claret is back?” I asked and Nyra nodded. “His majesty called her in to have a word with her regarding the poison accusation. I don’t know the details of how she’ll be working henceforth, but all I know is she’s back and she asked that you be given

Ambrose’s POV She shifted against the wall so she could use it as a support to keep her head up. I still couldn’t believe that the weak lady before me was actually Jane that walked around the castle with so much prowess. I walked closer to her, just so I could hear her voice that was barely louder than a whisper. Thor and the other guards stayed as quiet as possible so they could listen in on the conversation. “It all started when Amanda…”“You will refer to her as the Luna.” I cut in. “It all started when the Luna arrived here. I was jealous and I felt threatened by her because I never thought you’d bring home another woman after everything I put you through…” she let out a slow breath like even that was a difficulty. “And when you marked her before the pack and the moon goddess, I knew that things were getting real so I journeyed to the Moonstone pack.” She explained. I nodded, urging her to get to the part that actually mattered. She exhaled. “While digging up dirt on her, I

Ambrose’s POV I stayed quiet while I listened to Amanda tell me everything there is to know about the situation at hand and how Mary White, the alleged hero, has been found by Thor. “Thor knows about this?” I growled feeling a bit betrayed but her hands immediately covered my fists, causing all the anger to melt away. “He just found out a few days ago.” She smiled wryly. “And he didn’t want to keep it from you but I begged him and promised that it would benefit you in the end…. Please don’t reprimand him for this.” She muttered, her voice as soft as butter. I nodded, my brain already working on the perfect plan. Duncan had bitten more than he can chew and insulted me despite the fact that I am his king. It is time to deal with him for good.“Firstly, bring Kattie into the main castle. I won’t guarantee that she will escape punishment when all this is over but at least for now, she is in my good graces.” I explained.Amanda nodded. She didn’t say a word but I noticed the flicker of

Ambrose’s POVMy eyes trailed to Amanda’s face and I could see all the questions she had to ask about this strange woman that she had never seen before. “Amanda.” I exhaled as softly as my voice could manage. “If it’s not so urgent, let’s have this conversation later.” I suggested. She nodded, a frown disfiguring the features of her perfect face. “Of course, your majesty.” She replied and hearing her refer to me as your majesty pricked my heart. I watched her walk out the door as quickly as possible and then my eyes returned to the lady in front of me, my eyes narrowing in impatience.“Last time I was here, you were smitten with the old beta’s daughter. And now look at you staring at a feline from the Moonstone pack with so much love.” She sighed shaking her head in disappointment. “What happened to you? The mighty Alpha king?” I sucked my teeth immediately. “You and I both know what Jane put me through and you would be shocked to hear the things she has done after that.” “But I l

Amanda's POV I walked toward Duncan’s door, determined to meet him. There were so many things I needed to discuss, countless questions I had and I couldn’t simply stay back in my room and listen anymore. I was not going to allow him to get away with this without an actual explanation.“I'm sorry,

Amanda's POV “No! You belong to me!” Duncan yelled, his voice cutting through the air. His eyes were pale, lids barely open, a sign that he was still suffering from the weakness my rejection caused. I sat there, too stunned to speak and too weak to even move. How could the alpha king be my mate? W

Amanda's POV “What did you just say?” Duncan demanded, finally standing from the bed, hastily dressing as if the words I had just spoken had jolted him out of the spell Kattie had wrapped him in. Even Kattie froze, eyes wide in shock. Before, I had always clung to Duncan, never wanting to let him

Amanda's POV My mate was being coronated as the alpha of the pack today, and for reasons I couldn’t fully name, a cold unease gnawed at me. This should have been a day of pride and triumph. Duncan had worked for this, and I had stood by him, sacrificed and bled alongside him, to make him worthy o
