2. Leaving Home

{Alessia}

Just as dawn broke, I felt a hand tap me softly, I woke up immediately since I was a light sleeper.

It was nana.

"Time to go hun." She said and handed me a bag.

I knew my way, my parents had taught me the path to the fairies glade as soon as I could talk, they told me to head there straight if trouble ever broke out.

Fortunately, for all sixteen years of my life, never once did I have to go there. Trouble had come, but it had always been trouble that we could handle.

I sensed that this trouble was bigger than any we had faced before and that was why my parents were sending me away.

I was going to be a big girl and handle leaving my parents real mature, but I did not want to leave without seeing them, I did not know when next I would see them again.

"Can I say goodbye?" I asked, I was determined not to cry though my heart was breaking.

"No," Nana said, I tried to hug her, but she didn't let me touch her. "We don't want your scent to linger here." She explained.

I couldn't even get a goodbye hug.

"Goodbye, Nana," I said and turned to follow the back path.

"Cole is already in the basement." She said and I turned to go, hiding the tears that were already falling from my eyes. "Be safe." Her voice broke and I knew that I was not the only one crying.

It was a very sad day indeed.

I walked as fast as my legs could carry me and I opened the latch on the basement door, it was very dark when I entered the basement and I couldn't see, thankfully the bracelet the fairies gifted me was a glow in the dark kind.

I made my way towards the underground caller with the help of the light for my bracelet.

"Cole," I called out softly when I had almost gotten to the door.

"I'm here." He answered.

He was sitting on the floor hugging his back to his chest, he cleaned his eyes and stood up immediately he saw me coming.

He must have also been crying as well.

"We have to go," I said trying to sound strong.

"I know." He said and he pushed the door open.

He didn't need a light, he could see in the dark since he was a hybrid but since my powers were still blocked by the bracelet, I was like a common human.

Oh, how I loathe that title.

I grabbed his hands and the both of us made it through the tunnel to the other side.

By the time we got out, it was light outside, the sun was not yet visible, but it was already bright outside, I was the last to come out of the tunnel and as I held on to the latch, I couldn't resist turning back one last time.

I would miss my home.

I slammed the latch close as soon as I heard voices from inside.

There was screaming and the sounds of many feet coming towards us.

Danger had come for me.

Cole and I ran and ran, we did not look back.

We traveled for many days and soon we became tired and hungry, we had exhausted both the supplies that Nana had packed for us. My bag felt light without the food and water, but it was still heavy to me because my body was becoming weak.

We kept walking though and I wondered if we had not lost our way, since we didn't seem to be getting anywhere, we were just crossing from forest to forest and glade to glade.

"Water." I smiled in relief as we came across a small stream.

"We're almost there, it says when we cross a small stream, we are to take the path beneath the trees and we would find the fairies' glade." Cole smiled weakly and announced.

"Great," I said. "But I meant water, for drinking smartass."

"Right." He smiled again. "Race you to the stream." He added and took off.

"No fair." I huffed and walked slowly to the stream

He would beat me anyway, he was stronger and faster than me right now.

"Why do I feel woozy," I asked as soon as I had two handfuls of water.

"I feel woozy too." He said and tried to get up.

We both passed out on the sand.

{Avalon}

"My child." I cried and tried to get out of his strong grip, but it was impossible.

"I just want to hug her goodbye." I pleaded but he was not budging.

"Dec please, I'll just only watch her leave, I promise not to touch her." Tears streamed down my face.

Declan had heard the news of a congregation of wolves and a coven of Witches joining forces to find our daughter, they did not know her, but the person they had described was exactly my daughter.

A Witch had seen a vision, something about the prophecy and those that were against would do anything to prevent it from being fulfilled. I did not understand it, but somehow my daughter was in the middle of it all and her life was in danger.

I sensed everything that happened the moment he touched me yesterday and I knew that this day would come, but it did not make it any easier.

I couldn't even hug her goodbye.

"Ava, please." He begged me but he didn't loosen his grip. "We have to keep her safe." He said and buried his nose in my hair, inhaling my scent.

"Let go of me," I demanded angrily and pushed him away from me, my eyes had turned fiery and my hair and started to glow.

"No." He shouted and caught my wrist before I could chant a spell.

The sparks distracted me and I could not complete the spell.

"I just wanted to see her." I crashed on his chest and my tears soaked his shirt.

"I know, I also wanted to." He said and hugged me tighter.

"Alpha, there's been a perimeter breach." A guard barged in and announced hurriedly.

"Get the men immediately," Declan ordered with a loud growl.

"S-sir, t-there's a Witch." He said shakily and I stood up immediately.

"I'm coming with you," I said and he nodded his head.

These were the people that wanted to hurt my baby, they were the reason why my baby was away from home and why she was not with me right now.

I couldn't have been more angrier.

I took to the skies immediately we got out, my eyes were fierce and fiery and my green hair was glowing.

I was in power mode, like my daughter, my Alessia used to call it.

The intruders were many and their scents were masked so I could barely tell who they were or where they came from.

A huge fight had broken out, but the intruders were gaining the upper hand, I caught sight of a group of witches chanting a spell to weaken our wolves and I flew towards them immediately.

Not many witches can fly and since they were still on the ground, I was sure that they were not witches of higher rank.

Meaning they were no match for me.

I secured our pack house to protect the Omegas and the children who couldn't fight then I removed their spell from the wolves.

They had already caused us to lose a lot of men and they seemed to be growing in number.

I attacked with all my strength defeating four of the witches but they were still coming, I had to descend from the sky when I began to grow weak.

I was using too much of my power as it was.

I picked up a spear and continued my attack when I reached the ground, I watched as Declan was tearing people limb by limb and snapping them in two like twigs.

I lost concentration for a second and as soon as I turned back, I was blasted away by a Witch.

I screamed in horror as I flew back and hit my body against a wall.

I tried to get up, my head was bleeding and my mouth as well.

"Ava," Declan yelled and started running towards me.

"Zeeda lelonia." I chanted and blew a green smoke towards him.

I had never had to use my magic on him before but I had to do it now. He turned back immediately, his eyes color green.

He still had to fight, he couldn't leave the battle for me, his people would be killed.

"Nana!" I yelled as I watched her get hit by a magic spark. She fell to the ground immediately and her eyes closed instantly.

I dragged myself to where she was and I held her in my arms, her mouth was bleeding but she was still alive.

"Nana!" I yelled again and a lot of power left me and cleared half of the intruder, they turned to ashes immediately.

Nana tried to talk, but no sound came out from her mouth, she spat out blood, and then she fell silent.

"No," I screamed and tears poured down my face.

Nana was dead.
