Louis — POV…..

I woke to silence.

Not the peaceful kind—the heavy kind. The kind that presses against your chest and reminds you that something terrible almost happened.

For a moment, I didn’t move. My body felt… strange. Too light. Too heavy. My throat ached faintly, like a memory rather than pain itself. I lifted a hand slowly, carefully, afraid of what I might find.

My fingers brushed my neck.

Skin.

Whole. Smooth.

Just beneath my fingertips, I felt it—a thin ridge, barely raised. A scar.

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 043: Heat it is

Nyra's POV"No, this can’t be happening right now, I can’t have my heat”The word barely escaped my lips, another wave of heat crashed through my body and I gripped the edge of the table so tightly that the wood creaked beneath my fingers.Every breath became harder to take, it felt like my skin burned everytime i moved and my wolf paced frantically inside my mind. It's time.He said No.Stop fighting it.I'm an Alpha, what did you do, this isnt right. The thought echoed desperately through my mind, Alphas don't go into heat, they simply didn't.We were dominant wolves and our instincts were different. This wasn't supposed to happen.Another sharp cramp tore through my abdomen and a small gasp escaped me, any moment now and my scent would fill the room.I could feel my nipples hardening already, Across the table, Chief Garrick's face darkened with realization."This scent” he sniffed and groaned as he looked around for the source, I wished the ground could. So I could fall in.he

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 042: Alphas dont go into heat

Nyra's POVThe warmth from the fire should have been comforting.Instead, I felt strangely restless. The entire village had gathered around the long wooden tables outside the chief's hall. Lanterns swayed gently in the evening breeze, casting soft pools of light over their smiling faces. After everything we'd been through, it almost felt unreal. Caelum sat across from me, laughing at something Aria had said.I caught myself staring at him again.Instead of staring like a creep, why don’t you go and say hello to our mate My wolf growled Shut up He only grunted and I kept on staring at Caelum, before he could notice, I quickly lowered my eyes and took another bite of bread.Stop looking at him.My wolf gave an amused huff. You like looking at our mate.Be quiet. You keep pretending you don't.I ignored him.Chief Garrick waited patiently until everyone had begun eating before speaking again."So” His eyes settled on us. "You never answered my question.""Why have you come to Ash Ho

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 041: We shouldn’t trust him

Caelum's POVThe silence lingered long after the gates had closed. None of us moved.I stared at the village, my hand resting on the hilt of my sword."Did he" Aria began. "Just point at Nyra?" I finished. She nodded slowly. "I thought I imagined it."Nyra's face had gone pale. "I've never seen that man before.""You know him?" I asked. She shook her head immediately. "No, I swear I don't."I believed her and the confusion in her eyes was genuine.Still... The way the old man had looked at her made my instincts tense up.He hadn't looked surprised at all, he had looked certain as if he'd been waiting. "We've come this far," I said quietly."We can't turn back now."Neither of them argued.Together, we walked down the winding path toward the village. As we approached, I noticed how small it really was.The stone wall surrounding it was barely twice my height, patched in several places with rough timber where age had begun to wear it away.A wooden sign hung beside the entrance, faded

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 040: A strange village

Caelum's POVThe mountains seemed endless.Three days had passed since we left General Rowan's city, and every path looked the same, rocky trails winding through thick forests, towering cliffs that scraped the clouds, and rivers so cold they numbed our feet whenever we crossed them. The excitement of the journey had long disappeared. Now it was simply exhausting.I adjusted the strap of my pack and looked over my shoulder. "Still alive?"Aria groaned dramatically. "Barely."She flopped onto a large rock beside the trail."My legs are officially protesting."Nyra walked past without slowing. "You've complained every hour since sunrise.""Because we've been walking every hour since sunrise!"I laughed quietly. "You wanted adventure.""I wanted adventure," Aria corrected, "not to become adventure."Nyra rolled her eyes, though I noticed the corners of her lips twitch. It was the closest she'd come to smiling all morning."Come on," I said. "If we keep moving, we'll reach the next valley

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 039: Get the kids

Luna Aria's POVThe pack house had never felt so quiet.I sat beside the cradle near the bedroom window, gently rocking it with one hand while watching my daughter sleep. Her tiny fingers curled around a doll she was holding, her silver hair shimmering softly beneath the afternoon light. She was beautiful.A tiny miracle born into a world that seemed determined to return to war.I smiled and cooed at her "You have your brother's hair," I whispered."But your father's stubbornness" The baby stirred, letting out a sleepy little sound before settling again. The sight made my heart melt, behind me, footsteps approached and I knew it was Kaelen.Kaelen wrapped his arms around my shoulders from behind and kissed the top of my head."She's asleep?""For now."He leaned over the cradle. His large hand looked enormous beside our daughter's tiny one.Yet somehow she instinctively reached out and wrapped her little fingers around his thumb.Kaelen chuckled. "I think she already knows who spoils

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 038: A give and Take situation

Nyra’s POV“Run!”Caelum’s loud voice cut through the deafening chorus of snarls ftom the wolves. For a split second, none of us moved. The forest shook.Hundreds of wolves burst from between the trees, their glowing eyes reflecting beneath the moonlight like a sea of burning embers. They had formed a crescent formation around us, cutting off every obvious escape. My pulse quickened.“He planned this,” I whispered.Caelum glanced at me.“What?”“The first pack wasn’t meant to kill us.”Realisation struck all of us at once.“They were stalling,” Aria breathed.“They wanted to keep us here until the rest arrived”A deep howl echoed across the valley. Every rogue answered at once. The sound vibrated through my bones.I had heard wolves howl countless times before. This one was different, it was as chilling and sounded like it was an order and every rogue obeyed it.“We’re surrounded,” one of Rowan’s soldiers muttered. The older soldier stepped forward. “There.”He pointed toward a narro

(Aria’s POV) The night smelled of blood and smoke. The ground was churned with dirt and crimson where wolves had fallen, and the cries of the wounded carried into the trees like a haunting dirge. I could still hear the echo of Kaelen’s growl in my head, the way his voice had commanded not just me,
