Eryn- 6

"Impossible," I hear Abel mutter under his breath. Then I hear him in my mind, 'How?'

"How, indeed," I say out loud.

Suddenly, Abel turns and dismisses us from the Elders' council. We briskly walk into the mansion where he lets my hand go in the middle of the den. He looks flustered as he runs his hands through his blond hair. I am in amazement myself.

"I thought you could only find one soulmate? You lost yours and Asher is mine, how is this possible?" I ask, trying to prompt a response from him.

"I don't know," he dismisses my question as he reaches for a book on the shelf of the wall. I sit on a dark burgundy couch as I watch him thumb through the book. He finishes the book and throws it on the nearby desk as he reaches for another.

I am lost in thought, is this really happening? Could I have been mistaken? Was Asher truly my soulmate or had I made the wrong assumption? No, he was it! He had to have been! He was in lust for me, which is normal for a male in the sire-bond. Is Abel? Or will he be? I can't answer that now, I just don't know what to expect anymore.

"Here," Abel announces and comes over the couch that I am sitting with a book in his hands. He hands me the book and opens it to a page. I take a moment to read what it is that he is pointing to and can immediately feel his magnetic pull on me as he sits beside me. I want to look into his eyes, try to see what he is feeling, but I know that he wants me to read this passage, so I focus on the words and read.

"In times of great turmoil, when the brink of war is on the horizon. Two wolves from two packs will be born, who will one day unite the packs and bring peace. One a broken-hearted male and one a she-wolf, a slave to a system that requires change."

I nearly drop the book as I finish the short passage, but Abel reaches over to grab it.

"Eryn," he calls softly. I look over at him and he continues, "Do you know what this means?" I glance back down at the book before looking into those eyes and shaking my head. "You and I were fated to meet. This is our destiny! I am the broken-hearted male, who lost my Luna nearly a decade ago. And you," he cradles my face in his palm. "You are the slave to a system that requires change. The system of your pack, your Alpha, who is a tyrant. Two wolves, one black, one white who will unite the two packs in peace." His voice is delicate and I can't help but find hope and love in his words.

We don't say anything, we just continue peering into each others eyes. Then slowly, as if in slow motion, we lean in and our lips meet. It is a soft kiss, that ignites something deep inside of me as euphoria washes over me. His lips are sweet with honey and his breath on my face is warm. I am lost in this kiss, as I have never felt anything quite like this before.

"Abel, we need to talk," Nyko is at the doorway of the den. He doesn't look apologetic in the least for interrupting our kiss.

Abel closes his eyes then clenches his jaw before addressing Nyko. "What is it, Nyko?" he sounds exasperated but waits for a response.

"Abel, what was in the letter that was delivered earlier?"

"Why does it matter?"

"Because there are Brinshire wolves walking the perimeter. They seem to be gathering at the border," Nyko announces.

Abel quickly pulls the letter from his pocket and reads it again. I hear him mutter a few curse words under his breath before addressing anyone. "They can't have you back. Especially now," he is whispering to me, then hands me the letter before he raises himself to council with Nyko.

As I read the letter, I understand why the Brinshire wolves are assembling at the border. If I am not returned by dusk, they will attack. The realization hits me, "Abel," I call to him as I turn toward them. "I have to go back! I cannot let you go to war, for me!"

They are in discussion as I announce my proclamation. They both look at me with shock in their eyes. "No, you cannot go back. Your place is here, Luna," Nyko states. He turns to Abel and they exchange glances just before Nyko hurries out of the door.

"What did he just call me?" I ask astonished.

"He called you your rightful name. You are my true soul-mate and I am the Alpha, therefore, you are my Luna."

Luna?! I ask myself as I stare off into space. I never thought, in a million years that I would ever be a Luna. Even when I had realized that I was Asher's, I had refused the idea, but now I am to be Abel's Luna, of the Winchester wolves! I look up into Abel's eyes again and feel the calm serenity in them wash over me again. I don't think I will ever get tired of this feeling.

"Eryn, you cannot go back to Asher. I cannot allow it, especially now. You are my fated love. I knew it the moment I first saw you, I knew there was something about you. Something that I had to protect, something that I cannot live without. Something that our packs have needed for so long." He takes my hands in his and whispers, "Peace!"
