Lisa’s POV

"Since we're already talking," Ronan said, his voice a little softer than usual, "I might as well bring this up."

He stood paced to the bar showcase, pouring himself a drink.

Wait… could wolves even get drunk?

“I know what you're thinking. Don't try taking any of my drinks. They're too strong for a human.” He said, like he could read my mind, before continuing with what he really wanted to say; "We're only married by contract, yes. It's not something the entire world knows yet. But next month... we'll be getting married. For real. The preparations start soon."

My eyebrows shot up. "Excuse me?"

“You heard me. I’m not one for rigmarole, so I need to know—are you ready?”

I blinked. Then laughed. A dry, slightly overwhelmed kind of laugh. "Not by a longshot. You can't just spring that on me."

He didn’t even flinch. Just stared at me like he already expected that answer.
