Unlucky Omega

She caught her breath as soon as she stopped near that bridge. She looked back, making sure that she was already far away from the establishment that nearly ended her dignity. She never thought that there are people like them.

People who only wanted money in the world and nothing else. Those people are sure to be trash.

Hazel thought that today was her lucky day.

“Why am I so unlucky?” she murmured to herself, biting her lower lip.

Her eyes blurred and the heavy feeling on her chest kept on pumping her. Finding it hard to breathe, she clenched the railings of that long bridge. She didn’t notice that her feet would take her to this place.

A sidewalk beside the bridge.

Hazel raised her head and sniffed her nose. She wiped her eyes and looked down. Under the bridge was a long running river. Anyone who would like to jump down will surely drown and die.

The only thought that was running into her mind was to jump. Her heart started to beat faster and as she looked down. The chilly air coming from the passing cars and the surroundings tickled her down to her spine. At this point, her mind suddenly became blank.

Hazel gulped and stepped forward.

“Why is the world so cruel to me?” She mumbled, getting annoyed at herself.

Recalling the event that happened earlier, her eyes started to squint and the blood on her nerves rose once again.

She found that job online, which had good ratings because of legitimacy. It stated there that they are needing a part timer student, female and omega. Hazel thought this opportunity will really help her. School is hard these days and they have a lot of projects and homework.

As soon as she sent them an email, a reply was immediately sent back to her. They asked her to come as early as eight in the morning. It left a smile on her face. Forgetting her breakfast, she rushed out from her unpaid small apartment.

However, when she arrived, it turned out that they needed a female host, who would entertain alphas at night. The coffee shop was only an alibi. When they saw Hazel, they forced her to take that red pill for an interview and health examination.

She was lucky that she has fast and strong reflexes. It helped her to escape and run away.

Another day to call herself unlucky. The last job she applied for did not accept her because she refused to talk to that maniac alpha.

Tears rolled down on her cheeks. Questions about these experiences filled her mind. She only wanted to have a nice job to sustain her nice life. She is only a college student who wants to graduate and make herself proud.

“Why is it so hard if it's me? This is so unfair.” She thought.

In this cruel society, where Alphas reign, omegas are seen as weak and boring. Living as an omega is like trash trying to fit in. Only those powerful alphas have the right to everything. In this world, if you are an omega, you have no right to refuse an alpha.

The orphanage she grew up in threw her away because they believe that she is old enough to survive by herself. She just turned 18 that time. A mere 18 years old, who was supposed to be happy exploring the world and understanding herself.

Hazel had no choice at that time. If she does not move and find a job, she will die from hunger. She will die as a teenager who hasn't even reached anything in life.

She didn’t want that. She wanted achievements. She wanted to fight, but right now her hopes are slowly slipping away from her fingers day by day.

Everyday is always the same. There is nothing good in her life.

Hazel tightened her grip on the railings, stepping forward. Her eyes stopped crying, and the only thing she could hear was those imaginary voices from below. Those voices enticed her to come and jump.

Her feet moved closer, and closer until one of it was on the lower railings. After all the bullshit, she is now prepared. She raised her knee length purple dress and stepped up her left leg, maintaining her balance.

When it was time for her right leg to jump, a loud voice came to her senses.

“MAMAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!”

Hazel froze as soon as she felt those small hands wrapped around her right leg. Her bare skin felt cold. She had no choice but to step down. Shaking her legs, her eyes widened as soon as she saw a small child around her thigh.

“MAMAAA!!” The little boy screamed while crying.

Growing up in an orphanage and around kids, Hazel knew what to do in times like this. She carefully moves away from the dangerous railings along with the little boy clinging into her.

The crying little boy stopped crying and sniffled. He looked at the lady whom he kept on calling mama. “Mama,” his voice looks so pitiful.

Hazel looked around. There are none who look like someone losing a child.

“Where did this child come from?” She thought.

She crouched down and was about to ask the little boy when it stood and wrapped its arms around her neck. The little boy is crying as if he was scared of something.

Kids tend to do it a lot if they are in a dangerous situation. Maybe the reason why he thought that Hazel is his mom.

Hazel hugged the kid gently and patted his back. “Stop crying, you're safe now.” She whispered. “Where is your mom or your dad?” She asked.

The little kid stopped sniffing and replied. “I hate Papa! I want Mama!” You can feel the sadness from his small voice.

It melted Hazel’s eyes. Seeing a little child in distress, maybe the right move is to call the police and report it.

She was about to do it. Her hands already touched her phone from her purse, but then, a gun was already pointing at her head.

“Let the young master go if you don’t want to die at this moment,”

That deep cold voice delivered weakness in her spine. Men in black surrounded them, letting her hope fade away.
