“That’s impossible,” I cried. “How would he be dead? Who would kill him in imprison?”

“Do not speak like a dunce,” Xavier said. “You know how badly people don’t want the truth out. You know how they’ll fight to keep their secrets. This just confirms our suspicions of someone in the council being involved.”

“What do we—” I didn’t finish that statement.

Lloyd dashed outside, walking briskly.

At first, Xavier and I were stunned at the sudden action before we scrambled to follow.
