**ARIA'S POV**

We got back to Ironfang.

He dragged me up the stairs without slowing down, his grip iron around my, bruising it purple.

Each step jarred through my body, my legs struggling to keep up.

I didn't cry no matter how hard the tears tried to force themselves through. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry.

I forced myself to keep my footing, to stay upright, to not stumble even though my legs trembled with exhaustion and fear.

"Keep up," he said flatly, not even looking back at me.

I did.

We reached his chambers and he released me so suddenly I stumbled forward. I caught myself before I could fall, planting my feet and straightening my spine.

The door shut behind us with a heavy finality that made my stomach clench.

Then nothing.

Caelan didn't move. Didn't speak. He didn't even come closer.

He just stood there, staring at me with an intensity that made my skin prickle.

The silence pressed in from all sides, heavy and deliberate, crawling over my

**ARIA'S POV** I stood frozen in the middle of Caelan's chambers, my heart hammering against my ribs. What now? The question circled in my mind as I stared at the closed door. I took a hesitant step towards it, then stopped. Wait. It wasn’t Caelan’s deep, commanding tone that usually filled these halls. This voice was lighter. Sharper. Female. At first, I thought I must have been imagining it. My mind playing tricks after everything that had happened. Exhaustion could do strange things to a person's perception. Maybe I was hearing servants in the hallway. But then the voice came again, louder, edged with irritation. “I know you’re in there!” My pulse jumped violently. That was real. And it was meant for me. Before I could decide what to do, a heavy knock slammed against the door. Not hesitant. Not polite. Not the careful, apologetic tap of a servant afraid to disturb their Alpha's property. A knock that assumed authority. That expected to be answered. That demanded resp

**ARIA'S POV**My feet hurt. That was the first thought that came when Caelan walked me out of the building. Not relief that I was alive. Not gratitude that he'd come for me. Just the immediate, blinding awareness that my feet were torn and bleeding. I'd lost my shoes somewhere during the kidnapping. Or maybe they'd taken them. I couldn't remember anymore."Walk," he said the moment I began to slow down.I obeyed, and kept moving. But he should have just brought a horse with him or even shifted and carried me back. Was he so inconsiderate? I'd just been kidnapped, beaten, tied up for hours. My wrists were still bleeding from the ropes. And he wanted me to walk.My body screamed for me to sit down on the ground right there. My legs couldn't move any further, muscles trembling with exhaustion that went bone-deep. He didn't stop. He didn't even look back at me. Just kept walking with that steady, relentless pace that said he couldn't care less.I followed because what choice did I have

**CAELAN'S POV**The forest moved around me in patterns I'd recognized from years ago. The scent of pine resin sharp in the cold air, mixing with damp earth and decaying leaves beneath my feet. This was my territory, mapped in my bones from countless patrols, countless hunts. The scent from the letter pulled me forward with certainty, leading exactly where I'd calculated it would. The old ruins.I hadn't been there in years, not since the last pack wars that had forced me to navigate every corner of my territory. The structure had been abandoned even then, stone walls crumbling under time's weight. Moss grew thick between ancient stones, and ivy had claimed the eastern wall entirely, choking what remained of carved symbols I could no longer read.My wolf pressed against my skin, wanting to surge forward and tear apart anything between me and what had been taken. My jaw ached from clenching, teeth grinding together as I forced control over instinct that demanded blood.I wasn't here f

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 44

**ARIA'S POV**I woke to darkness and the smell of damp stone. My head throbbed with a dull, persistent ache that made thinking feel like wading through thick mud. My wrists burned from rope that one of them had tied around them, tight enough that the fibers bit into skin with every small movement. For a moment I couldn't remember where I was or how I'd gotten here. Then memory crashed back in fragments that felt too sharp, too real. The forest. Caelan shifting into that massive wolf with golden eyes. Rough hands grabbing me. My screams cutting off as something struck the back of my head. The world going black.I forced my eyes to focus despite the pounding in my skull that seemed determined to split it open.Walls surrounded me, rough and old. Stone that looked like it had been placed by hands that had turned to dust centuries ago. It was abandoned to the forest and forgotten by everyone except, apparently, these wolves who needed a place to hide their crimes.Moonlight filtered thro

**CAELAN'S POV**Fifty marks. They wanted fifty marks for her return. It didn't make sense.Fifty marks was nothing. Less than what a decent horse would cost. Less than I'd paid for her at auction. A pittance that any Alpha could produce without straining their coffers even slightly. That was too cheap.Something was wrong. They were planning something that had nothing to do with money.I read the letter again, searching for hidden meanings in the brief, calculated words. They didn't specify a location for the exchange. They didn't even threaten what would happen if I refused.Just a price. Absurdly low. Insultingly low. What they truly wanted was to see how I'd react. That's what this was about. They wanted to test whether I'd scramble to pay immediately, proving she was worth more than I claimed. Or whether I'd refuse, confirming she meant nothing and could be disposed of without consequence. Or whether I'd negotiate, showing weakness they could exploit.Every possible response gave

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 42

**CAELAN'S POV** I stopped before the fortress gates came into view, my paws sinking into the soft earth. Blood dried along my fur, still warm in places where it hadn't crusted over yet. The kill from the hunt meant nothing now. I shifted. The transformation tore through me sharp and brutal, bones snapping back into place with sounds that echoed too loud in the quiet forest. My human form stood in the cold air, steam rising from overheated skin. My eyes burned gold, the wolf too close to the surface to fully recede. The guard who'd kept my clothes tied to his feet stepped forward and handed them to me. I put them on. Black shirt and trousers. "Not a word," I said, turning to them. They all watched me with expressions that ranged from confusion to dawning horror as they started piecing together my instructions. "If anyone asks, the hunt was successful. A guard died to rogue animals. That's the only story anyone tells." I paused, letting the words sink in, making sur
