“Look who is finally back, for a moment there, I thought you left us.”
I opened my eyes and the walls were all white, my eyes were still foggy.
“How did I get here? Where am I?” I asked, confused trying to sit up when the sharp pain in my stomach brought me back down.
“Take it easy, I just stitched you up, you will have to stay in bed for a few days.”
“What happened? Who are you?"I asked, trying to remember how I ended up here in the first place.
“I am Doctor Grace, it looks like you were stabbed several times. It's a miracle you are still alive you lost so much blood.” she said, putting a drip to my left hand.
It then started coming all back to me bit by bit. I remember being locked up in the basement as usual when Ella, Alpha Marcus’s mate came down there. She was furious at me and blamed me for Damian not spending enough time with her. She stabbed me and I fought back and hit her on the head and she lost consciousness. Then I took that as my window to try and run away because before Damian got back. I made it past the gate when one of the men guarding it spotted me and immediately called for backup and informed The alpha. I remember him and his boys coming after me, I remember Alpha Damian getting to me, and then I remember him lying down in a pool of blood. I bit him with all my might and then used a heavy stone to hit him in his head. I then ran for my life as fast as i could possibly ran. I don't know if he died or survived. Which means the pack must be in the hunt for me. I however don't know how I ended up here. How his men let me go especially after i had badly injured their Alpha. It then dawned on me I was not safe here.
“I have to go, I have to get out of here please.” I said , trying to sit up again. But the pain was excruciating. My body has received beatings over the years but right now it is at its maximum.
“Ma'am, you have lost a lot of blood. You are in memorial hospital. You were found passed out on the side of the road with a note saying ‘HELP’ your baby seems to be fine, but you have to stay in bed for a few days.”
“Baby?am pregnant?” i asked touching my stomach instinctively. This couldn't be possibly happening to me. How could I be pregnant by that monster?
“You are six weeks pregnant Ma'am congratulations.” The doctor said smiling and I immediately started tearing up, still clutching my stomach.
“It's okay, you will be fine, the baby too Will be fine, you just need to regain your strength and we need to get you vitamins. You can also hear the heartbeat,” she said, applying some cold gel in my belly.
Before I could process everything she was saying she gestured for me to look at the screen.
“That's the heartbeat,”she said smiling but then abruptly stopped, and out of instinct I immediately asked her to touch her arm.
“Is everything okay?” She looked back at me and smiled.
“Looks like you are actually having twins mama!”
It was not the answer i was expecting at all, at first i thought she had seen some extraordinary weird stuff, considering i had already smelled her, she was human. And then i thought maybe she was going to say that something was wrong with the baby which would have come as a relief but instead she said i was pregnant with twins.
How was I supposed to take care of two kids when I had a whole pack trying to kill me.
I had nowhere to go, no one to turn to. Maybe my parents will take me back and help me if they found out I was pregnant.
“Do you have anyone we could call for you?”the doctors asked, smiling softly.
“No.” I said avoiding eye contact. I didn't want her to feel sorry for me.
“That's okay, just rest I will be back to check on you.”
As soon as the doctor left my room, I quickly woke up trying not to apply pressure to my wounds. I quickly collected my small belongings and snuck out of the hospital taking with me all the pain medication they left on my tray.
My wolf was back and was the one thing keeping me strong.
I snuck through the woods trying to withstand all the pain I was feeling. It started raining which made things worse when my bandages got all soaked up and the pain multiplied, maybe i should have just stayed at the hospital like that nice doctor had advised.
When I finally got to my father's house, I quickly walked up to the front door and knocked with all the strength I had left in me. But no one came, I tried ringing the bell several times but still no one came. I was about to turn and walk away when the door hinges creaked and my step mother opened the door.
My clothes were now soaked wet and full of blood from the open wound.
“Please help me.” I said to her as tears streamed down my face.
“What are you doing here Vanessa? Do you want to get us all killed?" she furiously asked at the top of her voice as her daughter joined her at the doorway.
“ I am pregnant and I don't have anywhere else to go, please.” I said looking at my step sister hoping she will convince her mother for me.
She looked up at me from head to toe in disgust trenches in both rain water and blood then said without blinking.
“Am sorry Nessa, we can't help you. You are a wanted fugitive. If they found out we even talked to you they would kill us. Besides, you should have thought about your baby before nearly killing the Alpha.”
A wave of disappointments, shock and anger went through me before terror took over. Alpha Damian was not dead, he would kill me with his bare hands if he ever found me.
“Why don't you go back and beg for forgiveness Vanessa, before it's too late.” My mother said, “You might think I hate you, but I don't. I love ii and that's why i can't help you. When you are a mother you will understand Nessa.” she closed the door on my face. My step sister mumbled i am sorry and they went back inside leaving me drenched in their front door.
I wanted to scream and cry but what good would that do me. I needed somewhere safe to stay before they found me. And now that I was bleeding they could find me easily by following my blood scent.
Stay strong Vanessa. My wolf Eden whispered to me as I tried to walk faster into the woods.
“I see her,” I heard a voice shouting. “She is running into the forest that way.” adrenaline took over, they had found me. The crescent pack found me.
Please give me strength, don't let me die like this Eden. I whispered to my wolf.
She gave me her last strength and I started running as fast as I could while holding on to my open wound. I didn't get far though, I tripped on one of the traps set and I fell face front to the ground hitting my head. But the pain from the trap cutting my leg hurt more. I didn't even realise my head was bleeding. I saw several figures approaching and then I saw stars, total stars right before I passed out, I heard one of them say.
“We found her.”
JordanThe moment she slips out of my arms, the bed feels cold. The sheets still hold her warmth, her scent gods, her scent and my whole body reacts to it like I’ve been starved for years and only just tasted what I was meant to have all along.I lie back on the pillows, breathing her in.Vanessa, my mate. The bond is new raw, bright, pulsing like a second heartbeat under my skin. I can feel her in the shower across the room. Not just the sound of running water, but her emotions, her softness, her contentment. She’s humming under her breath, and somehow even that is intimate. It takes everything in me not to get up and go to her instantly. But I’m frozen in awe for a moment.Because I never thought I would feel this way. So undone. So possessed. So connected.I’m the Alpha. The hybrid. The strongest damn creature in this territory. Yet one small woman with no rank just unraveled me com
VanessaHis lips are still on mine when I realize I’m not breathing.Or maybe I’m breathing too fast, too shallow like my body can’t keep up with what Jordan just awakened inside me. My hands are still fisted in his shirt, my body pressed flush against his, and when he finally pulls back, only a fraction, only enough for air to slip between us, his eyes are no longer just Jordan’s eyes. They are glowing, silver around the edges, storm dark in the center. The look of a hybrid Alpha barely holding himself together. And all of that intensity, all of that hunger is focused entirely on me.“Vanessa,” he breathes in, and my name sounds like something sacred on his tongue. “If you keep looking at me like that” His voice drops into something rougher. “I won’t let you go tonight.”I swallow hard. “Maybe I don’t want to be let go.”Something in him snaps at my r
JordanHer words hit me like a shifting earthquake silent, invisible, but enough to crack something deep inside my chest.I didn’t move on my own. Something controlled me. I didn’t choose him. I wasn’t betraying you.I stood there under the steaming water, staring at her as the last of those words faded into the air between us. For a long moment, the only sounds were the pounding spray, our uneven breaths, and the thundering of my own heart.I didn’t trust my voice at first. I didn’t trust myself at all.She looked wrecked, her eyes wide, trembling, cheeks flushed with heat and shame and fear she didn’t know how to name. And fuck, it gutted me because I knew she wasn’t lying. Vanessa had never been able to hide her emotions from me. Even before she remembered anything, her body always spoke louder than her words. But what she told me, It twisted everything I thought I understood. Finally, I found my voice.“What do you mean something controlled you?” I asked quietly, stepping closer.
Vanessa The moment we crossed the border back into Jordan’s territory, everything shifted. The air changed, the atmosphere shifted and the silence hardened. No one spoke to me.Not Kade, not the patrol warriors walking ahead and behind us, not even the omegas who rushed forward when they saw the state we were all in. Their eyes found Jordan, taking in the blood on his arms, the fury still carved into every tense line of his body. And then, they glanced at me. Not with relief. Not with concern. With disappointment and accusations and betrayal. Whispers followed me like a second shadow.“She protected him.”“She got in the Alpha’s way.”“She chose Damian over us.”“What if she is still tied to him?”I wanted to scream that none of that was true, I wanted to shout that I had no idea what came over me.But I had no voice. Not right then.I was still trembling from the inside out.Jordan didn’t look at me once on the entire walk home.He walked ahead of me, his muscles tight, his jaw cl
Jordan The moment I saw Damian’s hand on her, something inside me snapped. It wasn’t just anger. It wasn’t jealousy. It was instinct, pure, violent, territorial instinct. My vision tunneled. All I could see was Vanessa’s arm, caught in his grip. Her scent was tangled with fear and defiance, and every cell in my body roared to life, demanding blood.Kade said something beside me, maybe my name, maybe a warning but the sound drowned beneath the thunder pounding in my skull. My wolf surged forward, claws ripping at my skin from the inside. My vampire side flared hot, sharpening every sense into lethal clarity.Damian met my gaze and he smiled that smug face. I didn’t remember choosing to shift. I didn’t remember stepping forward. I didn’t remember anything except the moment my hybrid form tore through the forest with one purpose. Destroy him."Step away from her," I growled, but even I barely recognized my own voice deep, distorted, vibrating with the force of two beasts fighting for
DamianThe night was silent after she ran. For a long while, I just stood there, watching the spot where her scent still lingered wild, sweet, and painfully familiar. My wolf prowled beneath my skin, restless and angry that I’d let her go without forcing her to stay. But I knew she’d come back. They always did.The bond between us wasn’t something that could simply be broken by choice. She could pretend all she wanted, wrap herself in Jordan’s arms, whisper his name l instead of mine but her soul still remembered. The blood oath we shared wasn’t something the Moon Goddess could erase. When I finally heard the faint crunch of leaves, I smiled to myself.Right on time. She emerged from the darkness again, hood pulled low, steps hesitant but determined. My chest burned with a strange mix of pride and fury, she looked like a queen even when she was walking into the lion’s den.“Vanessa,” I said softly, spreading my arms. “You came back.”Her eyes flashed with something fierce. “I came t
