Maya was dramatic. She was on the floor with her shirt halfway off, back arched, moaning like a performer on stage.

But the real show was watching the discomfort on Vanessa's face, and the stiff way she stood by the door. It was comical.

I could barely keep a straight face. She didn’t say a word, but she didn’t have to. Her entire body was recoiling. She didn’t want to see any part of this, and honestly, I didn’t blame her.

I watched her leave, quietly. I should have followed her. But Maya rolled on her side like she was paralyzed and needy.

She grabbed my hand and pressed it to her lower back. “Please,” she whispered. “Just... for a minute.”

I crouched beside the bed and started rubbing gently, just enough to make her shut up. My fingers moved automatically, not out of desire, but obligation.

Maya sighed like she’d found heaven. “That’s it... right there...”

She climbed onto the bed slowly. “Mmm,” she breathed, curling into the pillow, “don’t stop.”

Within minutes, she was out

VanessaI pulled a woolem dark shawl over my head and made my way toward Olga's quarters. The air carried an unusual chill, like a warning. My gut told me to turn back. I could lie, and say I was needed in the Alpha’s quarters.I’d thought of skipping this meeting because I hadn’t done what Olga asked me to. I couldn't do it. Skipping wouldn’t change anything. Olga always found out.Besides, this was the week of cleansing, the sacred tradition ...that had held my loyalty to her since I was thirteen. The perfect chances when I could’ve done what she asked had passed.

Olga always found out.Besides, this was the week of cleansing, the sacred tradition ...that had held my loyalty to her since I was thirteen. The perfect chances when I could’ve done what she asked had passed. Like when I delivered Maya four grapefruits, arranged on a fancy tray. The poison could have gone unnoticed. But I did nothing.Because no matter what lies Olga whispered in my ear, I couldn’t bring myself to harm a child. Especially one still in the womb. When I entered Olga’s chamber, the strong smell of pepper and smoked broth hit me first. She was sitting cross-legged on a mat, hunched over a steaming wooden bowl,

VanessaI stared at the ceiling, completely still.Alec was still between my thighs. His head rested against my lap. His breaths were warm, and unhurried. Every time he exhaled, it sent a wicked tingling that made my toes curl.I couldn’t believe this just happened.I couldn’t believe I just let this happen. My legs trembled. My core throbbed with an ache I didn’t have words for. I had never felt anything like that in my life. Alec hadn’t just touched me. He had devoured me. Worshipped me. Broken me open with his mouth and hands like I was a secret he’d waited too long to uncover.I should’ve screamed at him to leave the moment I felt that bond flare. But I didn’t. I wanted it. I begged for it in every moan. And now, I was lying here, dazed and spent while the man I wasn’t supposed to want breathed against my inner thigh. This was more than a mistake. It was a declaration. And it would come back to burn me. My chest ached from the guilt curling like smoke inside me.I reached down and

Vanessa I was going to be in trouble. Serious Alpha-grade trouble. And Goddess, it was going to be so worth it.From the second I walked away from Alec in the garden, I knew I’d poked the bear. Calling Zachary my boyfriend was the verbal equivalent of slapping him across the face. But the way Alec had stiffened with barely restrained rage had been delicious.I could still picture the look in his eyes. He hated that I’d dared to entertain someone else, even if it was just a joke. He hated that I had that kind of power over him, even if I wasn’t supposed to. And honestly? That kind of power was intoxicating. He was always playing control games with me, pushing me, pulling me, making me feel like I belonged to him while he still danced around Maya. So I gave him a taste of his own medicine.Still, I wasn’t blind. Alec wasn’t the kind of man who took things lightly. He wasn’t going to let this slide. I’d feel the heat soon. He'd make sure I paid for it. And weirdly, I was kind of looking

Vanessa I held the Hunter crest tighter in my hand and climbed the stairs to my room. Once inside, I sat on my bed and unfolded the cloth. The crest glinted under the light.Freedom. That was what it stood for. The right to rule ourselves. The right to protect our kind. It had been a symbol of pride for my family for generations. Now it was just a relic in my hands, mocking me.I looked around my plain room. I was a servant now, who cleaned up after women who spat at me. And here I was, holding a symbol of honor like I deserved it.How ironic. This crest used to hang in the great hall of our estate. Now I was shoving it under floorboards like a guilty secret. I lifted the loose board near my bedside, slid the crest beneath it, and closed it. One day, I’d pull it out again. When I was free. When I had a name again.I straightened my dress and stepped out.Upstairs was quiet. I lingered in the hallway, waiting for someone to summon me for anything. Then I heard a dramatic whimper.I
