When I was injured, Alpha Kenny Havon had his arm around the newly arrived she-wolf, Leah Sterlace. He was flirting with her. All it took was Leah saying she wanted to look at the stars, and he abandoned me to take her out on a date across the plains. "Leah isn't like you. Don't bully her. "And I'm staying with Leah tonight. The marking ceremony tomorrow can be postponed." This was already the ninety-ninth time Kenny unilaterally canceled our marking ceremony. I nodded. Since he was always busy, maybe this marking wasn't really necessary anymore.

Kenny welcomed me home with a bouquet of 999 roses. It was something I had wanted from him back when I still cared. But now, it was too late.Because I no longer needed it.I didn't need the flowers or Kenny anymore.I looped my arm through Lucas' right in front of Kenny. I even stood on my tiptoes and gently kissed Lucas on the lips. The light in Kenny's eyes dimmed, yet he still chose to deceive himself."It's okay, Ella. I know you're just upset with me."He tightened his grip around the roses and let the thorns pierce his palms."I'll show you that I genuinely regret what I did. I'll atone for everything!"Blood seeped from his hands, but even as his second-in-command dragged him away, I didn't respond with a single word."I'm sorry. I used you as a shield just now."I apologized to Lucas, but he was smiling."Ella, I never would've minded as long as it's you."In fact, I wish everything had been real."I understood what he meant, but my thoughts were still a bit tan

When I returned home at night, I saw Kenny in the bushes downstairs. He seemed drunk. When he spotted me, he staggered to his feet and tried to approach me.I instinctively backed away.Kenny froze. He then looked at me with a solemn expression."Even you look down on me now, huh?""No, I just don't want to have anything to do with you anymore."After saying that, I tried to walk past him.He suddenly grabbed my arm tightly. I felt a warm liquid dripping onto my hand.He spoke through choked sobs."Ella, I was wrong."I treated you the way I did because other werewolves kept saying everything I had was all thanks to you, including my status and reputation."I was the Alpha. I just couldn't accept it. I couldn't accept that they never acknowledged my ability. They only ever credited everything to you!"I've always loved you. I never once planned to marry another she-wolf!"He sobbed uncontrollably, but all I felt was a deep, chilling cold.So that was the real reason. He

One day, Lucas was sparring with the pack's warriors at the training grounds.I stood nearby while recording data as usual. After the training session ended, Lucas suddenly looked in my direction. Then, with steady steps, he walked straight toward me.My heart raced without me realizing it.Before I could figure out what he was about to do, he took my hand and led me to the center of the training grounds. At last, Lucas gave me the public acknowledgment I had yearned for but never received in seven long years.Sunlight shone on us as the warriors erupted into applause. For the first time, I stood tall and truly felt the honor that should have been mine all along.Silently, I mouthed a thank-you to Lucas. He simply smiled and said, "This is what you've always deserved."Tears welled in my eyes.I lowered my gaze to hide it, but in doing so, I caught sight of someone with bloodshot eyes staring at us from beyond the training grounds. It was Kenny. The next second, he charged

When Kenny called again using a friend's phone, he sounded clearly worn out."Ella, I concede. You win."Come back. I promise I'll mark you immediately and make you Luna."Are you happy now?"For a moment, I honestly wondered if something was wrong with his head.Hadn't I made myself very clear?I almost laughed out of anger. "Kenny, all I've ever said was to break up."Do you understand what that means? I'll say it one last time. We're already broken up. Stop bothering me!"Lucas was standing beside me. Having noticed I was in a bad mood, he asked if I was feeling alright.Kenny overheard him and instantly threw a fit."Who are you with right now?"Why is there another werewolf's voice? Aha! I get it now! This is why you wanted to break up with me! You betrayed me!"I didn't bother explaining. I hung up.Friends sent me updates from time to time.I heard that Kenny fired his new Beta without even meeting him once.Leah hid at home because of the public backlash. She was

Early the next morning, I went to the patrol unit to hand over my duties.Ever since Kenny became Alpha, I had served as his Beta."You're leaving? Does Kenny know?" Joey Canberra looked shocked."He'll know once I'm gone."After saying goodbye to Joey, I headed to the training grounds. While th

"Kenny."I forced myself to look up. My voice broke from the pain.Kenny Havon turned around. His golden pupils looked especially cold in the moonlight. The she-wolf in his arms, Leah Sterlace, was giggling. She was tracing circles on his chest with her fingers."Ella, you couldn't even handle a
