Chapter 3

Author: LL
Today, other wolf packs paid us a visit.

I was still responsible for most of the work during the handover period.

I led the visiting werewolves to the lounge to rest.

Those who followed behind me and immediately spotted Kenny at the dining table. He was feeding meat to Leah by hand.

"Wow, we heard that the Alpha of the southern territory already completed the marking ceremony with his second-in-command, Ella. I wasn't expecting them to be this close!"

"Exactly! He's an Alpha, yet he's still so attentive to his Luna!"

That's right.

For seven years, I took care of everything for him and tried my best to look after him.

Meanwhile, he was taking care of another she-wolf.

The two of them soon overheard the praises.

Leah looked behind her and saw me. She immediately put on a pitiful act.

"Ella, look at Kenny! He keeps forcing me to eat beef. I'm getting fat from all the feeding!"

Kenny didn't even look at me. He gently wiped the blood from the corner of her lips.

"Be good. Finish this, then take your medicine."

The chatter stopped abruptly.

I met the visitors' awkward gazes and kept smiling as I led them toward the training grounds.

After everything was arranged, Kenny appeared behind me at some point without my noticing.

His gaze was cold. "I heard you booked a flight. Where are you going?"

Before I could figure out how to answer, he suddenly grabbed my hand and gasped.

"Ella, where's the wolf fang?"

I knew exactly why he asked.

For seven full years, I never took off the wolf fang he gave me.

A flicker of unease crossed Kenny's eyes as he stared straight at me. "Speak!"

I was just about to tell him the truth when Leah suddenly screamed and started crying. "Ahh! It hurts so bad, Kenny!"

All the werewolves looked over. Leah had fallen next to a training post. She had a fresh cut on her palm.

Kenny shoved me aside and ran over to pull her into his arms.

"How could you be so careless?"

Leah's eyes filled with tears as she pressed her face against his chest.

She then glanced at me with sadness and fear in her eyes.

"I have no idea. I'm sure Ella must have checked the training grounds last night. I really don't understand why there would be a blade on the post.

"Hmph. Kenny, it hurts."

Kenny looked at the bloodstained blade embedded in the wooden post. He was clearly furious.

The next second, he roared at me, "Ella, you've gone too far. I'm extremely disappointed in you!

"Get over here and apologize to Leah right now!"

Ignoring the looks of contempt from the other werewolves, I walked up to them.

"It wasn't me."

"Who else could it be? The entire pack knows how controlling you are. You're the one who personally inspects the training grounds!"

After yelling at me, he grabbed a stone sculpture of a pair of wolves and smashed it onto the ground.

He then pressed my hand down onto the scattered shards.

My palm immediately turned bloody as countless shards pierced through my flesh.

"This is her punishment! No one is allowed to help her clean it!

"Reflect on what you did. Come apologize when you finally realize your mistake!"

With that, Kenny picked Leah up and walked away without looking back.

My eyes filled with tears, and my vision blurred.

Tears fell one by one onto the shards.

My hand hurt, but my heart ached even more. It almost felt like I couldn't breathe.

The two wolves on the stone sculpture were shattered beyond recognition.

Kenny had carved the stone sculpture for me himself.

Back then, he only had eyes for me.

He'd said, "Ella, I've already sworn before the Moon Goddess. Let's be together for life, okay?"

Yet now, he was the one who broke that oath.

I gathered up the broken pieces and threw them into the trash, along with the memories and the last traces of my reluctance to let go.

When I returned to the training grounds, I saw Kenny standing tall and radiant on the platform. He walked down to take Leah's hand as they accepted the cheers together.

Kenny had experienced many glorious moments like this.

Three days ago, I accidentally overheard Joey ask him, "Ella's been your second-in-command for so many years. She's given everything she has. You're partners and mates. Why don't you bring her up to accept the cheers with you?"

Kenny's tone had been full of disdain. "I got where I am because of my own capabilities.

"Honestly speaking, she's not qualified to be my Luna. You know it. She's getting older, and I don't think I love her anymore."

My gaze returned to the platform. Leah was standing beside Kenny and smiling brightly.

Sunlight fell over the two of them. They did look good together.

That was when my phone buzzed. I received a message that the handover procedures were complete.

Finally, I could leave this place and leave Kenny for good.

I'll atone for everything!"Blood seeped from his hands, but even as his second-in-command dragged him away, I didn't respond with a single word."I'm sorry. I used you as a shield just now."I apologized to Lucas, but he was smiling."Ella, I never would've minded as long as it's you."In fact, I wish everything had been real."I understood what he meant, but my thoughts were still a bit tan

When Kenny called again using a friend's phone, he sounded clearly worn out."Ella, I concede. You win."Come back. I promise I'll mark you immediately and make you Luna."Are you happy now?"For a moment, I honestly wondered if something was wrong with his head.Hadn't I made myself very clear?I almost laughed out of anger. "Kenny, all I've ever said was to break up."Do you understand what that means? I'll say it one last time. We're already broken up. Stop bothering me!"Lucas was standing beside me. Having noticed I was in a bad mood, he asked if I was feeling alright.Kenny overheard him and instantly threw a fit."Who are you with right now?"Why is there another werewolf's voice? Aha!
