Chapter 14

Stop.

(Seraphine’s POV)

The door creaked open. I lowered my legs and readjusted my nightdress. Valefar slunk into my bedroom and I somehow convinced myself to look him in the face.

“Sera,”

I cringed. I hated the slimy voice he used to taint my name. “Master Valefar,” I moved away from him as he sat on the end of my bed. His clothes were dishevelled, his hair a blonde mess. Despite it all, I found myself concerned for him. “Are you alright?” It should have been him asking me that, and yet there I was, being as pathetic as usual.

“Yes, yes, I was just…” The words died on his tongue. That was unusual for Valefar. He always had a snarky comment or witty remark to throw out. “I was testing something.”

I remained silent.

“I suppose you want to know who I’ve chosen as your mate?” He beamed, switching back to his normal self, acting as though this was a gift to me.

I stared at him. “Are you going to kill him if I talk to him?”

Valefar chuckled. “I have no plans to kill myself,

  • The Alpha's Celestial Hellhound   Woman of the forest

Chapter 18Woman of the forest (Seraphine’s POV) Kenton led the way while remaining in his wolf form. Renrik walked behind me in his human form, leaving a fair distance between us. I could feel his one good eye on me. Watching me as though I was a prisoner about to make a break for it. On top of that, the silence was stifling. I had to say something. Anything, just to get conversation flowing. I glanced over my shoulder. “Will your eye get better?” Then immediately regretted asking. It was an awful topic to choose; especially if his eye wasn’t going to heal. “Would you not love me if I only had one eye?” Renrik snarled. “I was just trying to make conversation,” I admitted. “If you must know, I don’t care about looks. It’s the person on the inside that matters. Who said I was going to fall in love with you, anyway?”Renrik’s gaze dropped to his marching feet. “The Moon Goddess weaved it into the stars. You are my Fated Mate. We will fall in love.” ‘Will’ fall in love. When Ambe

  • The Alpha's Celestial Hellhound   Like father, like son

Chapter 17Like father, like son(Seraphine’s POV)Once Renrik left, I collapsed beside the fire. I knew Alphas held an immeasurable amount of power and had a natural aura of dominance, but feeling it for myself was surreal. There were no Alphas in Hell. Valefar killed them all or simply didn’t capture them. ‘Standing up’ to Renrik had left me drained.I tried to catch my breath and let my heart return to its normal rhythm, but a shiver shot down my spine. Someone was nearby. Someone was watching me. While my body went stiff, I tried not to let on that I was very aware of the shadow creeping up on me. “Hey-”I pounced. I couldn’t shift into my wolf form without Valefar’s permission, but I could use the iron cuffs on my arms to whack someone around the head. That was exactly what I did and quickly regretted it as Kent whimpered and backed away, rubbing his red cheek that I’d just walloped. “Ow, ow, ow. How can someone so small pack such a punch?” “Kent?! I thought you were on patr

  • The Alpha's Celestial Hellhound   The Surface

Chapter 16The Surface(Seraphine’s POV)I awoke to the sound of birdsong and to the scents of a lush forest filling my nostrils. It was a stark contrast to the screaming of tortured souls and the odour of rotten meat that I was accustomed to. I had lived with those things for so long that I barely noticed them; it was only in their absence that I truly understood how dreadful my mornings were. My body felt groggy and heavy as I moved it, dodging the low branches and the thorny bushes that had assumedly kept me hidden. I knew I was on the Surface, but it was so strikingly bright. I only saw the world through its gritty nightlife in the cities or at isolated crossroads at twilight. Deals with demons were rarely made at the break of dawn. The dappled sunlight warmed my arms and I twisted them to watch how the light and shadows danced across my skin. I looked around me, catching sight of two squirrels chasing each other up a tree. I saw a bird swoop down into the forest’s debris and pl

Chapter 15No(Seraphine’s POV)“No?” Renrik’s eyebrows rose. “What do you mean ‘no’? Kent,” he suddenly snarled at his companion. “Why haven’t you taken her yet?”“She wouldn’t come!” Kent squeaked as the swirling fire behind him started to fluctuate. Renrik’s one-eyed blue stare switched back to me. I could tell he tried to soften his features. I knew he was making an effort not to snap at me, to shout or scare me. “Seraphine,” his voice was as gentle as his deep, dark tone could muster. Like the rich soil of the Earth itself was whispering to me. “If you were worried about me, look, I’m fine. We can go now, together.”My eyes scanned up and down his body. The Alpha was covered in scratches and blood - both werewolf and demon. The hand not covering his bloodied eye was plastered in blisters and burns. There was no way he was ‘fine’, especially when his body swayed as he stepped towards me. I rushed to steady him and Kent grabbed the other side. “Thank you,” I murmured. “I will for

  • The Alpha's Celestial Hellhound   The Hellion Ring

Chapter 13The Hellion Ring(Renrik’s POV)The Vault was a menacing, metallic prison beneath the Veilrend village. Warding runes covered the wall, from floor to ceiling, and the ancient rituals merged with modern technology to keep the artefacts in the Vault safe. Its entire existence was a well-known secret. People knew that we had wealth, knowledge and power, but no-one knew how to access it. Apart from the Alpha of the pack. The Alpha had the luxury of choosing who got to know where the Vault was and how to access it. Signing a contract magically bound those who were told to secrecy. It was all a fucked up, elaborate sys

Chapter 12Sinful UnionCONTENT WARNING: This chapter contains mature content. (Diana’s POV)The mattress of Valefar’s bed was like a slab of hot stone, but it didn’t matter. Valefar kneeled between my legs and I wrapped them around his waist. He broke from my lips to kiss down my neck, over my collar bone, between my breasts. My fingers gripped his hair while my other hand made quick work of his buttons. I could feel his smile against my skin, making me tingle, making me wet. I pushed the shirt off his shoulders and he shook it down his arms, exposing his chiseled body; the work of an artistic incubus.I pulled off my low-cut top, thinking Valefar might admire my choice of lacey, black bra, but there wasn’t a moment to even see it. In an instant, my bra and I were pinned against his chest. The hooks were undone with practiced dexterity, and the undergarment I had painstakingly picked out was tossed into the fireplace. A disappointed whine slipped past my lips as embers devoured my

  • The Alpha's Celestial Hellhound   Diana

Chapter 11Diana(Diana’s POV)I stared at Seraphine lying in the pool of Jeremy’s blood. White hair strewn around her, tears and plasma maring her gentle features; she looked like a wounded Goddess and I hated her all the more for it. What made me hate her beyond redemption though, was the way Valefar looked at her. I had never seen such an expression on his face. The realm had shaken when Seraphine raised her voice and sparks of light crackled around her. Valefar was scared of Sera, but there was something else in those intense, amethyst eyes of his. Delight. Arousal. That was new. My master had never looked at Seraphine as though she was anything more than a fancy gun with his finger hovering over the trigger. Ever since she turned eighteen, it was like she was reborn anew in the eyes of everyone. It disgusted me. “Diana,” Valefar’s voice stole my attention. “Bring Sera back to her room. I’ll select a mate without her.” “Of course, Master,” I bowed my head to him and started t

  • The Alpha's Celestial Hellhound   Jeremy

Chapter 10JeremyFeeling cold in Hell wasn’t possible, yet I chilled when I stepped outside with so much skin exposed. Diana and Valefar turned to me as my high heels clicked against the marble steps. Diana was mortified by my bikini-esque costume, but Valefar looked ecstatic. “Sera! Who knew you’d scrub up so well?” Valefar rubbed his hands together before skipping over to me. “You look gorgeous,”“She looks nervous,” Diana pointed out. “I look like a hooker,” I helpfully added, slightly shocked that the word even made it past my lips.“Ah, well,” Valefar waved away my concern. “You’re not a hooker,” his voice was silky and sincere, right up until he added, “you’re not getting paid for it, after all!”I tried to conceal my sigh, but didn’t do a very good job. “My Hellhounds are all lined up for us. This way, this way,” Valefar snaked an arm around my waist and guided me towards the West Wing gardens. He was imbued with the aura of a sketchy car salesman. As usual, this was pure b
