The next week went by pretty smoothly. I liked that I saw less of Tsubaki since she had been banned from the Alpha’s floor, though Jackson still wouldn’t budge on telling me who was in the Luna’s chamber. I caught him leaving a couple of times and every time I checked the door was always locked. In the house, everything was in perfect condition. Jen ran the housekeepers with an iron fist and our head cook, Margo, was amazing. The food was probably the best I have eaten in quite a long time. Her meals were on par or even better than some of the meals we had at Lunarflare. The dining rooms were packed and full of laughter and conversation at meal times. Jackson even started to come and eat with everyone. The jerk was kind of growing on me. The gardens outside were starting to take shape. We even had a head groundskeeper whose name was Spencer. They planted the fall and winter blooms but they haven’t come in yet. I was also very impressed that Spencer and his family kept the pack farm
“We’re here.” I opened my eyes at the sound of Jackson’s voice. I somehow managed to move in my sleep and was all over him. My head was on his chest, my legs tossed over his lap and my arms around his shoulders. I raised my head up quickly and looked out the window. The car was still moving but I could see the city. The buildings were tall and wonderful, there were people everywhere, walking down the street, yapping on phones, going in and out of shops. I could smell some food cooking from a nearby restaurant and it smelt amazing. We passed by a couple of buildings with guitar music drifting into the street and people were dancing in cowboy hats.In a matter of seconds, I was in Jackson’s lap with my face pressed against the window just taking in all the sights. Liam made a few more turns and I saw the mall. The building was huge. I had never seen a building take up that much ground before. The parking lot was packed as well, with shoppers coming and going. It took Liam a little whil
“You look perfect.” I smiled at Ayla as she stood in front of a mirror looking at herself in her beautiful blue dress. Her blonde hair was pulled back and curled just enough for them to bounce around her chin. “Jackson and I got you something.” I said and handed her the small wrapped box that Jackson and I got from the witch shop. Ayla, with shaking hands, took the box and smiled. Jackson looked in the door, he had been waiting outside while we were getting ready. “Thank you, I didn’t expect anyone to get me a gift.” She said, starting to open the paper on the box. “Of course, I was going to get something for my baby sister,” Jackson said as he took a step into the room and leaned against the wall with his arms folded across his chest. “Go on, open in.” He encouraged her. She smiled and opened the box after removing the paper. Her eyes widened when she saw the necklace with the clear jewel in the center. “It’s beautiful,” she exclaimed. She took the necklace out and handed it to me
The rest of the party went smoothly. Liam and Ayla vanished shortly after Liam returned to the party. I was happy for them. I already loved Ayla like my own sister and Liam and I have been friends all of our lives. Jensen was nowhere to be found, which was probably a good thing for now, because I was unsure of what Jackson might do to him, let alone Liam. Today was another busy day at the pack house. Since I had overslept, I was alone in the dining room picking at the food Margo had brought me. I was more amused by watching Jen and Margo rushing people around and barking orders, then I was hungry. I missed my mom and, in some ways, watching these two women reminded me of her. Tonight was the full moon so, of course, I was missing my family more today than ever. I was also really worried about Sage. Since she isn’t a werewolf, she isn’t able to communicate with our pack when they are shifted. My father always carried her and the Beta’s daughter always stayed in human form to keep her
It had been a long night. I didn’t want anything else but to shower and crawl into my bed once the party was over. I helped Ayla move her things to the Gamma’s quarters so that she could stay with Liam easily and called my father afterwards to check how their pack run went. I was happy to hear that it went well. I was startled awake at some point during the night. I don’t know if I heard something or if I was having a dream, but I woke up with Lasaya on alert. I crawled out of my bed. I knew that if there had been an attack, that the warriors on patrol would have alerted someone and, even though I didn’t have the ability to mind link, there would have been more noise in the house by now. I moved to my door and opened it. When I looked down the hall, I noticed the door to the Luna’s chamber was slightly ajar. I quietly slipped out of my room and started making my way toward the opened door when Jackson emerged. He looked at me with a shocked expression as he stood in the doorway.
It was a little chilly when we got back to Jackson’s room. I wasted no time crawling under his thick dark blankets and cuddling up next to his warm body. I felt instantly comforted when he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. Jackson kissed my forehead, causing me to look up at him. He looked a little nervous, so I kissed his nose and smiled when he did. “I didn’t know I was a royal Lycan.” He said, keeping his gaze on me. He signed but I continued to listen to him. I was interested in learning anything and everything that I could about his past. “I was young, I remember my parents putting me to bed.” He started, then tried pulling me closer. I brushed his hair, gently, with my fingertips. “My mom came and woke me up. She was holding Ayla, she was just a couple weeks old.” He continued, taking a deep breath. “My mom put this backpack on me, and I remember complaining because of how heavy it was.” Jackson started trailing his finge
Waking up in Jackson’s arms was somehow different this morning than it had been the last time I slept next to him. Since I marked him, I have been able to sense his emotions better than before. He seemed to be content as he slept next to me, then a little annoyed as he started to stir, which made me laugh. “Good morning, Alpha.” I whispered as I lifted my head to kiss his cheek. He answered by pulling his arms tightly around me and burying his face in the crook of my neck. I laughed a little and swatted him away. “Get up, we have a pack to run and it’s almost ten,” I urged. He rolled over to his back and groaned with his arm over his eyes. “Don’t make me open the curtains.” I threatened as I set up and looked down at the man sleeping next to me. He groaned again. “Not the curtains.” His voice was husky and he still sounded very sleepy. I leaned over him and placed both my hands on his cheeks. This caused him to move his arm, open his eyes and look at me. “Good morning, Luna.” He gr
I followed Liam and Ayla to the pack hospital. It wasn’t very big, but since werewolves healed quickly, the hospitals didn’t get much use, except if you had a witch doctor like Lunaflare pack did.Once we were inside, Abby led us to a back room where the morgue was. There were two rows of three beds all held bodies covered with sheets. “As I said before, Luna, I’ve checked over the bodies and found no marks of nesting.” She said, Her voice was friendly and welcoming. I tilted my head to the side, then looked back over at her. “It makes no sense. Rogue vampires don’t behave in this manner. I pulled the sheet back on the first vampire and Abby handed me a small flashlight. Ayla gagged a little and stepped out of the room. Abby pulled the entire sheet off her and I started looking over the body and saw nothing. “I don’t get it, I really don’t.” I said, then looked back over at Abby, who was still standing beside me.“Nor do I, Luna, it does seem off.” She added.I turned back to the bo
