The taste, the texture, his smell, was a pure drug for her. She was so overwhelmed by all this. So much so that she forgot where she was and all the disagreements from the past that she had had with him. His hands were slipping on her back while he was pulling her close. Selene felt a fire that soon would start to consume her. She was aware that he was enjoying the moment as well. Small moans were coming out, but she could not tell for sure if it was from her or him. Emotions were rushing inside her at the same time as the movement of his finger, while he gently went up to grab the back of her neck. The silk dress with his fingers was such a duo that soon she felt shivers that she was unable to stop. He slowly stopped the kiss and leaned his forehead on hers, hardly breathing. After a few seconds, he straightened up and looked at her, deep into her eyes,

" What was this?" he asked softly.

She was looking numb at him, unable to say anything, still feeling his soft lips on her, like he had left a stamp. Even though she was saying nothing, he came closer and took her in his arms again, covering her with his smell, a smell she knew that she would always remember. Fresh and virile. The kind of smell for which marriages were invented. He leaned back on her lips, gently caressing them with his lips and slowly asking,

" Are you still cold?"

The only thing she was able to do was nod her head no. But it wasn't cold, she was feeling. She could bet that this was pure desire in the roughest form. The fact that he was staying so close to her and gently biting her lips while his hands were wandering freely on her back wasn't helping. At some point, somehow, the fog started to rise from her mind, leaving her with a judgment more clear. She managed to mumble between his small kisses,

" It is dangerous. Someone could see us..." She did not continue, and even her stomach started hurting her as she was saying those words, she knew it was just a pleasure for the moment. The fact that she was at the engagement party smooching out with the fiancé, somehow made her sick. And who! The last man on earth, whom she thought she would have something for.

He stopped, but she could see that that was the last thing he would have wanted to do. With his hands at his back, he put a step behind him like he was trying hard not to touch her. They both remained in one place, looking at the other with a hunger in their eyes that, if someone had seen them, they would have run for their life. They both realized what they were doing the moment they heard the big applause from the inside, a sign that something was happening. He was the first to break the moment, clearing his throat,

" I am sorry, he mumbled, I should have never..."

Selene would have found that funny if it wasn't like he had hit her with a rock in her stomach. She almost bends over from the pain. She took a very proud stand at his words,

" Don't worry," she said, trying to keep her voice clear and not let him see how hard he had hurt her. " I understand that you wanted a moment to clear your mind, and I was within your reach. Is as simple as that."

He looked at her, dumbfounded.

" That is nothing like what I wanted to say," he replied with an angry voice, a sign that she just got on his nerves."

She pointed to the place where they were before she continued,

" And how do you call what we have done when there is a girl who awaits you inside just to place the ring on her finger?"

He swallowed nervously and arranged his hair with one hand, another sign of nervousness. She thought, for a minute, that he would not answer her because he was looking so intensely at her, but she was wrong. He took a deep breath before he could answer,

" I don't know," he said simply. " If you were of my kind, I would understand, but this..." and he made a gesture with the hand between them and continued, " but you're not... so I don't know"

Selene felt like she had received a punch in the stomach at his statement and blasted at him, taking him unexpectedly, by surprise,

" You say," she started saying, clenching her teeth, "that because I am simply human, what you had maybe felt is not so great if you had felt for a she-wolf?"

Raph became a little red in the cheeks, as Selene could see at the garden lights, which pissed her off even more.

"You little son of a bitch! You think that only because you are a werewolf, who has no damn powers, you think you are better than the rest of us?"

Now it was his turn to be pissed off when she mentioned his lack of powers,

" At least I know who I am!"

The moment he let those words out of his mouth, he realized he had made a mistake. Selene became white like the paper. He leaned his hand towards her, into a silent excuse, but she backed up one step, just to not let him touch her again.

" I am sorry," he whispered, " I didn't mean..."

Selene was feeling the tears behind her eyes, but she would never give the satisfaction to this cocky rooster to see tears coming from her eyes because of him.

" You made your point. Just leave. You have a girl to ask in marriage." She looked at him right in his eyes, in a small attempt to make him suffer the way he had made her, " You deserve each other..." and with that, she turned from him and started walking alone on the paths, but not far from the castle because she was exhausted and did not want to have another encounter like this one. She could hear that he did not move to go inside as she was expecting; he waited a bit longer to do that, but eventually, he turned and left.

She could only sit where she arrived and listen to his steps returning to the ballroom. She was so confused about all that had happened that she needed a few minutes more to compose herself and try to reason. Tears were still there, trying to come out, but she was refusing to let them come down and maybe be spotted by who knows who in a weak moment. Her time for crying will be alone, at home. After he insulted her, all the moment of the kiss was gone, but now, she was looking back, retrospectively, and trying to remember when was the last time she had shared such a hot moment with a guy. But it was impossible for her to remember because she didn't have such a moment. She did have a few kisses from some guys after she left home, but none even close to this one. She was sincerely blown away. She did not know that a kiss could be so...intense. The fact that he threw away freely those words was hurting even more. Sometimes, words can hurt more than a slap on the face. And now she realized that. Confused and broken-hearted, she decided to go inside. She knew she shouldn't have come, but the mistake had been made and could no longer turn back now. The damage has been done. Even if she was very angry about what he had said, she tasted his lips. The moment she had done that, she was lost...

She raised her head and decided to go back inside, make a little presence, and leave. This was already too much. While she was heading towards the ballroom, she could see that a few women in the garden were admiring her dress. That made her feel worse if that was possible because before HE decided to insult her, she was feeling really good and confident, now she wanted only to be as far from there as possible.

She entered, and she went straight to her parents. Her mother raised an eyebrow when she saw her,

" Are you ok, honey?" she asked with a worried voice.

Selene didn't even want to imagine how she was looking, kissed, and left. She was proud of herself that she kept her tears inside because then her mother would have had a panic attack.

" I am ok, Mom," she whispered. Only imagining telling her mother exactly what happened made her blush like a nun in the face of a p**n magazine. But her mother's gaze was fast taken away after she understood that her daughter was ok, somewhere over Selene's shoulder. And she realized that everybody was having their eyes pointed somewhere on the stage. ' Oh no...' she whispered to herself and returned slowly. There, on the stage, it was the man with whom he had shared the most wonderful kiss, just a few minutes ago, proposing to another girl. Her heart sank, and she felt how she would easily dive into despair.

Everything around her was a feeling like soon disappear and she would fade away. In a moment of panic, she felt she would crumple down and make a fool of herself. Only this thought gave her a bit of strength, and she decided to leave that room as soon as possible.

While everybody was holding their breath, looking at the glorious moment, she turned away and headed to the door, with nobody to see her. Everybody was too occupied. She could not decide if she would just leave home or wait for her parents; she just needed to go out. After she got in the hallway, she grabbed her long dress and started to run towards the exit, not caring if anybody would see her as long as she would be far away from that scene.

The hallway was empty, assuming that everybody was at the engagement scene. She was trying to block her mind from that particular picture, and she was so into running towards the exit when she saw the door that she just didn't expect to bump into something the moment she was out, and she inhaled the smell of the night, and something else...

At first, she thought she bumped into a wall, but a pair of hands grabbed her arms quite gently to stop her from her crazy run. She was ashamed now that she had almost knocked someone off his feet, but when she raised her eyes, she was breathless. The most beautiful pair of golden eyes was looking at her on the most beautiful and perfect face of a man. She was speechless. She heard her thoughts fly away, leaving her with an empty head and amazed.

He was looking at her, amused but with a light in his eyes that she could not define. He looked behind her and after back at her, showing a smile on his voluptuous lips, making him look even more handsome if that was possible,

" Who is chasing you, little lady? Could it be an army sent straight from hell?"

His question surprised her a little bit. She was expecting him just to apologize and move on, like a real gentleman would do, so she replied,

" Only my demons, sir," she ended with a small bow.

And he did something surprisingly again, he laughed. He started to laugh quite hard, making Selene look right and left and check if there was someone who could have heard him. He finished his laugh, and he took her hand in his, for a small kiss, saying over the hand,

"I would surely meet you again, the little lady with demons..." and he left like he was never there.

Selene was blinking a few times, trying to convince herself that this was not a dream.

Six months later, the first snow came to the valley. It arrived quietly during the night, covering the rooftops, the forest paths, and the mountains in a layer of white that made the world look almost untouched, as though the centuries of fear and bloodshed had never happened and the land had been waiting for this particular morning to begin again.Selene woke before sunrise. For a moment she remained still, listening. There was no alarm. No footsteps outside the door.No distant cry from the guards. No summons from the council.Only the soft crackling of the fire and the steady breathing of the man sleeping beside her.She smiled.Raphael had one arm around her waist, his face half-hidden beneath the blanket, and even in sleep he looked more peaceful than she had ever seen him.The hard lines that had once seemed permanently carved into his face had softened over the past months. He was still the Alpha.Still stubborn.Still infuriatingly protective.Still capable of silencing an enti

For several seconds after the door opened, the world seemed to forget how to move. The chamber had become a place between realities, caught somewhere between the ruined mountain and the ancient moonlit forest beyond the silver threshold. The stone floor was splitting beneath their feet, veins of white light racing through the cracks as though the mountain itself had developed a pulse, while above them the enormous doorway stretched from floor to ceiling, its edges shimmering like liquid moonlight.Beyond it stood the wolves.Thousands of them. They filled the ancient forest on the other side, their eyes reflecting silver, gold, amber, and blue beneath a sky where an impossibly large moon hung low over the treetops. Some were enormous, some lean and young, some scarred, some almost translucent, and among them stood wolves that looked so old they seemed to have been carved from the night itself. They were waiting. Not for Selene to command them. For someone to choose. Then the first wolf

They reached the mountain before the second moonrise. The entrance was hidden behind a wall of stone that looked no different from the surrounding cliffs, but when Claudius placed his hand against it, the ancient symbols beneath his palm awakened in a slow succession, one after another, until the entire rock face was covered in silver lines. The mountain opened.A narrow passage descended into darkness.Raphael looked at Claudius."How far?""Far enough.""That's reassuring."Claudius ignored him and stepped inside.Selene followed, Raphael immediately beside her.The air changed as they descended. It became colder, but not naturally cold. The temperature seemed to disappear altogether, leaving behind something heavier, something that pressed against Selene's skin and made her magic restless. The child reacted almost immediately.Selene stopped.Raphael stopped with her."What is it?"She shook her head."Something's here."Claudius turned."I know."They continued. The passage eventua

The battle ended just before dawn. Not because the enemy had been defeated completely, but because the first light appeared over the mountains and forced the remaining attackers to retreat into the forest. The ruins were almost unrecognizable.Stone walls had collapsed. The courtyard was torn apart. The ancient symbols beneath the monastery had burned themselves into the ground. And everywhere Selene looked, there were signs that something impossible had happened.Wolves.Not one or two.Dozens.Some were still struggling to return to human form, standing naked and bewildered beneath blankets the others had thrown over them. Some were crying. Others were laughing. A few simply stood in silence, touching their own faces as though they had forgotten what it meant to feel themselves completely.Raphael stood among them.He had returned to human form, but the transformation had left traces behind. His hair was disordered, his skin marked with scratches, and his eyes still carried the faint

They left before sunrise. There was no ceremony to the departure, no time for explanations or goodbyes, because the moment Claudius realized the Severing Circle had been activated, he understood that remaining in one place was no longer an option. The enemy had found them once, and whatever had allowed them to locate Selene would only become easier to trace now that Raphael's wolf had awakened and the ancient connection between them had begun responding to the child. They rode hard through the morning mist, following an old mountain trail that Claudius claimed had been forgotten for generations.Selene rode beside Raphael.Neither spoke much. There was too much between them now.He knew about the child. He knew about the secret she had kept from him.He knew that she had been afraid of losing him, and although he had told her that he would not leave, Selene still hadn't entirely allowed herself to believe it.Raphael understood that.He didn't press her.Instead, he stayed close enough

The circle beneath their feet did not disappear. It remained carved into the earth, glowing faintly beneath the morning mist, its ancient symbols shifting whenever Selene moved.Nobody approached it.Even Claudius seemed reluctant to step across its edge.Raphael stood beside Selene, one hand still wrapped around hers."What is it?" he asked.Claudius did not answer immediately. He crouched near the outer edge without touching the symbols."I've seen drawings of this.""Where?""In the oldest records."Raphael looked down."That's the same symbol from the temple."Claudius nodded."The Severing Circle."Selene felt a chill."The ritual that broke the wolves?""Part of it."Raphael's expression hardened."Then why is it here?"Claudius finally looked at Selene."Because the severing was never permanent."The words settled heavily over them.Selene looked at the silver line beneath her boots."Then what is this?"Claudius stood."A door.""To where?""I don't know."Raphael's eyes narrow
