THE STARWEAVER PACK. I stared at the six feet deep grave I had dug. I had spent hours digging it, but I didn't care. I was weak, but the thought of whom I was about to bury kept me strong. This was arguably the best I've felt ever since I was born. A smirk escaped my lips as I shifted my gaze to the dead body, lying still. I closed my eyes and let myself relish the images of how he died. The way several claws dug into his body until he was lifeless. The struggle and fight he put up to it was bliss to my battered soul. "Are you done digging, omega?" A voice asked, jerking me off my thoughts. The shovel I had used almost fell off my hands. Thankfully, it didn't, as that would have attracted more punishments for me. "Yes, Luna." I bowed immediately. Luna Cara was one of the people that made my life horrible. Being born by a traitor to the pack and also being birthed as a twain under the cursed moon was enough to have me killed. My mother, an omega, was killed. My twin sister was said to have died with her. Several times, I also wish I suffered the same fate. Luna Cara got closer to me. She patted me on the back. That was a sign that I had done well, but I felt rather nervous and fearful. "How about we throw you down there with Tristan?" She asked, sounding very amused. Fear gripped my whole being. I started shivering. Luna Cara was taking walks around me, enjoying every bit of my misery. "It would not be so evil to let you die with the traitor, Tristan." "Forgive me, Luna." I begged, falling on my knees. Tristan had sold valuable pack information to a rival pack. Harrison, the alpha of the pack, found out and had Tristan beaten to death by the pack. I took no part in it, but I enjoyed every part of it, because Tristan made my life worse than a living hell. "There's nothing to forgive." Luna Cara said, bending over to meet me halfway. She released a very wicked laugh and even clapped her hands. "You should really stop feeding off her fear." Alpha Harrison's thick voice shook me a little bit. He was always in support of his mate and if she truly wants me buried alive, it'd happen. "See now terrified she is." She said, standing up to hug the alpha. The rest of the pack were behind him. "Blame me not for enjoying it." They locked lips and made disgustingly loud sounds. "Well, the daughter of a traitor should also suffer the same fate as her mother." Alpha Harrison said. I cowered in fear, shivering intensely. They always make threats but I'd never get used to them. "Please, alpha." I begged. "Just so you know," Luna Cara started, resting her leg on my knees, "you are not a member of this pack. You're a fucking slave." "Yes, Luna." I fought the tears trying hard to escape my eyes. Luna Cara laughed in an evil manner. She was having a lot of fun. "Okay bae, that's enough." Alpha Harrison said, pulling his mate to his side. She kept giggling. "I'm not sure if I enjoyed killing Tristan." Luna Cara giggled, "I was thinking I could make peace with the tempest in me by killing this one." I had nothing to do with Tristan's murder. I only watched and imagined myself being the one in charge. It was exhilarating and scary at the same time. "We will get rid of her, but not yet." Alpha Harrison muttered. "I have other plans for her." Alpha Harrison pulled me to my feet by my hair. My head ached for a few seconds and my scalp burnt, but it was nothing I wasn't used to already. "Well then, let's get to the burial nonsense." Luna Cara spat, sounding disgusted. "Traitors don't deserve burials, or what do you think, Nyx?" "They don't, Luna." I responded. A drop of tears escaped my eyes. I could not wait for all these to be over with. It was getting unbearable already. "Good." She giggled again. We went on with the funeral. Anytime a member of the pack is killed by someone in the pack, there are ritual processions that must be observed to avert evil. As the funeral went on, more tears escaped my eyes but I hid them well. Anyone seeing me cry would mean more punishments for me. I could not get punished any longer. I had tried to kill myself over the years, but nothing ever worked. Neither poison nor knives. I always came out alive. I wish I had just died alongside my twain. I was far useless than any slave ever in every pack I had come across. I could not shift, neither could my healing abilities kick in. The only good thing I had , that had proven otherwise bad over time, was my weird inability to die. I might have already taken too much poison, that I had already become immune. The funeral was over in a jiffy and the rituals were done. The pack went back inside and I followed behind, hoping that no one would decide to torture me again. "Nyx!" Luna Cara called in a very prolonged manner. "She would be the death of me." I muttered to myself before rushing to her presence. "Luna?" I responded, bowing my head. "Get me a glass of water." She ordered. I ran into the kitchen and got her what she desired. I felt dizzy from the living room all the way into the kitchen. I could feel life and consciousness, slipping out of me. I just have to give her this cup and get far away from her before whatever wants to happen would happen. As I got closer to her, I could hear her shouting, but her words were unclear. I could see her lips moving and her veins straining, but I surprisingly couldn't heat anything. I had almost gotten to her when my consciousness gave up on me. I fell to the ground, with her glass of water still in my hands. The glass broke as I fell and the water spilled out. Rather than having people surround me, I felt a kick to my stomach. Even in my unconscious state, I knew I was done for.Nyx's POV Kieran and I exchanged glances before stepping forward. The grass beneath our feet was soft, almost unreal, glowing faintly under the light of the full moon. The garden stretched endlessly, filled with flowers of colors I had never seen before. A gentle breeze carried the scent of fresh rain and something sweet, something calming. At the center of it all, the Moon Goddess sat on a stone bench, her silver hair flowing like liquid light, her eyes glowing with the same pale radiance as the moon above. She looked peaceful, almost too calm, as if she had been expecting us. “Have a seat,” she said again, her voice soft yet powerful, echoing in the still air. Kieran and I hesitated for a moment before moving closer. The moment we sat, the ground beneath us shifted slightly, as if the very earth recognized us. “I have waited a long time for this moment,” the Moon Goddess said, looking at us with something like pride in her eyes. “You have done what even I could not.” She
Nyx's POV Kieran’s fire burned bright, and I felt power rushing through my body. The surrounding sea roared like it knew a storm was coming. Calypso and Lyraxys stood tall, their eyes full of anger, ready to tear us apart. Everything went still for a moment. Then, the fight started.Calypso rushed at Kieran, moving like lightning, her hands were covered in swirling water. The water stretched out like long snakes, aiming for his throat, his heart, his legs, anywhere to take him down, but Kieran was faster. With one burst of fire, he burned the water away. He dodged her attack, twisted his body, and punched her hard in the jaw. Flames burst from his fist as it connected, sending her flying backward. She slammed into a wall of water with a loud crash. Lyraxys ran at me, as her face got twisted with rage. She moved quickly, but I was quicker. She swung a spear of ice at my head, but I ducked just in time. I felt the air shift as it passed inches above me. Before she could attack
Nyx's POV All through the flight, Kieran held my hand, and I rested my head gently on his shoulder. It was the only way I could feel whole, the only way I could feel even a little normal. I gripped his hand tightly, and he held mine with the same intensity, as if he, too, needed this to stay steady. Every once in a while, he pressed a soft kiss against my forehead, a silent reassurance that he was there, that I wasn’t alone. The journey felt longer than it actually was. My thoughts raced, my heartfelt heavy with everything that had happened. The weight of loss, the burden of what lay ahead all pressed down on me. But Kieran’s presence kept me grounded. His warmth, his steady breathing, the quiet strength in his grip were the only things keeping me from completely falling apart. When we finally landed, the pilots maneuvered the helicopters carefully, setting them down in a clearing near the coastline. The roaring sound of the blades slowly faded, replaced by the rhythmic crash of
Nyx's POV My heart broke as I watched my twin collapse to the ground. My world crumbled as I watched Lyraxys hold Akira's heart. Trent had first stabbed her before Lyraxys took her life away. The world stopped.No. No. No. This wasn’t happening. This couldn’t be real. I walked over to her side slowly. Calypso and Lyraxys were not there any longer. No one was bothering me.My knees hit the ground before I even realized I had fallen. My hands trembled as I reached out, my fingers barely brushing against Akira’s still body. Her eyes, once fierce and full of life, were empty now. I couldn’t breathe. My chest felt like it was caving in, like something was crushing me from the inside out. The world blurred around me, but I didn’t care. All I could see was Akira. My twin. My other half. Dead. Gone. Unalived.A choked sob ripped from my throat, and suddenly, the world trembled. The sky darkened, thick clouds swirling violently above us. The ground beneath me cracked, deep fissures
Akira's POV I stood, ready to fight, when a severed head flew through the air, rolling until it stopped at Calypso’s feet. She looked down, and for the first time, I saw fear on her face. “Argh!!” she screamed. I let out a small, satisfied smirk, stepping forward with my arms crossed, my stance casual, but my heart pounding with anticipation. “Hey, bitches,” I said smoothly. Lyraxys’ voice shook with pain as she stared at the head. “You… you killed him.” I tilted my head, pretending to think. Then, I chuckled. “Yeah, and it was kinda easy.” “I will make you witness the wrath of a goddess!” Calypso shrieked, her rage exploding as she shot toward me, slamming me into the ground. It was another level of pain, but I refused to show weakness. Kieran shifted back into his human form, and red flames flickered around him like a second skin. Nyx moved beside me, gripping my hand tightly. We stood together, ready to fight like Twain. Calypso’s scream sent a shockwave throug
Akira's POV I had diverted from the battle with the goddesses when I saw Neptune. It was like I was drawn to him. I could not keep myself away from him. I have to end this whole battle once and for all. “Son of a bitch.” I growled, standing close to him.“Hello love.” Neptune chuckled. “Want some dick? We could leave this place, and head somewhere we'd be able to have fun without stress from all around.”“You'd have better luck touching the sun than you would have trying to seduce me.” I hissed at him, feeling very angry. “I like it when you argue,” he giggled. “It's cute. It maybe even turns me on in fact.” “You're sick in the head!” I growled, and I'll make sure that sickness ends today."Akira, I'd really hate to kill you today. I never planned any of that." Neptune shook his head. “Use you as a sex slave? Hell yeah! But waste such a tight and sweet honeycomb you've got down there over a stupid fight? I'm not really interested in doing that.” He shook his head, looking at me li
