Chapter 2: The Morning After

Théo’s POV

I woke to a strange warmth on my chest, a scent that shouldn’t be there.

My eyes felt heavy, my head pounding. Last night’s drinks… the music… the heat… it all came back in flashes. My muscles ached, but beneath it all, my wolf was awake, screaming in delight.

“My mate! My mate!”

My wolf yipped, claws digging into my chest. Joy, fire, pride, all tangled into one overwhelming feeling. My entire body hummed with it. My wolf knew, even before I did. I had found her. My Omega. My mate.

I slowly opened my eyes, the light of morning piercing through the curtains. And then… I saw her.

An Omega. A maid. In my bed. My chest tightened. My hands curled into fists, my teeth ground together. My wolf whined and growled, confused. I should be happy. My mate is here. My wolf is overjoyed. But… my mind, my pride, burns with anger.

“What are you doing in my bed?” I asked, my voice sharp, low, and dangerous. My golden eyes locked onto hers, demanding answers. My heart raced, not from desire, but from disbelief and frustration. How could this happen? How did I end up in an Omega’s bed?

“You… you came to me first!” she shouted, panic and desperation in her voice. Her hands shook, and tears welled in her eyes.

I blinked, disbelief hitting me like a thunderclap. “That’s… that’s a lie,” I said, voice rising. “You tricked me. You… seduced me.”

Her knees hit the floor, sobbing, trembling. “No! Please! You don’t understand! I didn’t want this… it’s not my fault! I swear!”

I felt the tension in my chest tighten. My wolf growled at my hesitation, at the coldness in my tone. He did not like it. He wanted me to hold her, to protect her, to claim her. My wolf clawed at me from the inside, tugging, pulling, whining. But I was the Alpha’s son, and pride screamed louder than desire.

“How… how did I end up in an Omega’s bed?” I hissed, pacing. Every step was heavy, my claws scratching the floor. “Do you have any idea who I am? I am the Alpha’s son. The heir. I—” I clenched my fists so hard it hurt. “As the Alpha’s son, I’ll make sure you are banned from this pack!”

Her sobs grew louder. She fell forward, begging, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Please… I don’t want to leave! Just help me… please!”

My wolf roared inside me, furious at my harshness. He doesn’t like the way I am treating her. My wolf tugged at my chest, demanding I stop, demanding I call her back. My body shook as the tension split me, human pride against wolf instinct.

I stormed toward the door. I wanted her gone. I wanted to fix this with punishment, with coldness, with control. But as I reached for the handle, I felt something shift in my chest, a tug, sharp and strange. My wolf whimpered, alarmed. If I let her leave, I could lose her. He could leave me.

I froze. My pride warred with instinct. My wolf was clawing at me, desperate. My mate was there. My mate was mine. And yet… my Alpha pride refused to accept it.

I turned back to her. “Come here,” I commanded, voice cold but urgent. My wolf surged in relief as she hesitated, then obeyed. She stepped closer, trembling, her eyes wide and filled with tears.

“You better not tell anyone about this,” I said, my voice low, commanding, leaving no room for argument.

“I won’t… please,” she whispered, voice shaking. “Just… help me. I don’t want to leave the pack.”

My wolf growled in satisfaction at her words. He pressed against me, urging, desperate to claim her fully. I looked at her, my mind torn, my heart pounding. I exhaled slowly. Pride. Duty. Responsibility. Desire. Everything tangled together.

“I’ll talk to my father,” I said finally, my voice still cold. “Maybe… maybe you can come to our house. Continue working as a maid. Because that’s who you are, and that’s what you will continue to do.”

Her shoulders sagged with relief, tears still in her eyes. “Thank you…” she whispered.

My wolf purred, satisfied. But I stayed rigid. I could feel my mate near, my mate trembling, my mate terrified. My wolf wanted to hold her, claim her, protect her, but I… I would remain cold. I would remain harsh.

Because I was Théo, the Alpha’s son. My wolf might scream for her, but I would decide how, when, and under what terms she belonged to me.

And even if my wolf rejoiced, even if my instincts burned, I wasn’t ready to admit it yet.
